I bought this game a week or so after it came out in the US, and I STILL play it! Yes, the game could've been a little better, but hell, it's still a great game to this day!
is this good? i played all the good ps2 rpgs. i dont feel like replaying them after i beat them so i need something new. but most modern rpgs kinda suck. does this suck? its cheap at the store
@SSZLegacy Honestly the game could use some tweaks, but it's not bad by any means. Though, im not sure why you're wasting your effort telling people not to buy a game that costs like 5-10 dollars nowadays.

Cross Edge has turn based system, although a bit more complicated than in Pokemon, so it's time for you to ''evolve'' to the next level of JRPG games, lol. Pokemon is just a simplified JRPG game intended for the younger audience, so it appeals westerners quite a bit because it's not SUPER Japanese.

True that graphics are the least important of the three factors, but if a game's story and game play are nothing special, then wouldn't you at least like it to be easy on the eyes? I don't think that they are too important, but I still hope that companies will strive to improve graphics so they don't get left in the dust with limited character animation which could potentially limit game play. On a side note, this game looks pretty fun and I hope to buy this when I get a PS3.
This game is so tight for I still have this game, beat the game with all the char, and still trying to learn all the tough skills. I wish theres gonna be a Cross Edge 2 then ill be very happy :D

Honestly I have no idea why IGN gave this game a bad review, its not that bad of a game for it to get a 3 out of 10. Personally, this game should have gotten a 7 out of 10 at the least. The story is cool, the soundtrack is EPIC, and the way they were able to collect characters for "Darkstalkers" "Mana Kehima 2" and "Disgaea" was very unique. My only problem with this game is that its super slow, and battles will take a while but its totally worth it. Ignore IGN buy this game!! PS: GO ETNA!!
i am so confused with what the Skill slots mean. i kno what they do..like the skill and the weapon have to have the same in order to eqiup them...but i dont get what Normal, Burst, and Down mean..like does it have any effect in the battlesystem? and what does the icon next to it mean..sometimes it has a green, red, blue, or yellow light icon..with a roman numeral...i dont get it...someone please help me
Lesser graphics speak nothing about how "lazy" a development team are, but more about what the publisher wants and how much they are willing to invest in a project. And I'm afraid a project like this just does not get a Crysis 2 graphical budget. All things considered I'd say they did well with what they had. And as people have said graphics are only a very small part of what contributes to a good game.

I'm still trying to understand why this was released on a Blu-ray disc. Looks like a good game, but that's the kind of game you expect to see on the Playstation Store, or at least on the PSP. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game is bad because it has bad graphics... I just don't understand it...
It's actually not complicated, it just looks complicated. It is actually just slow and boring...
The fanservice is probably the only thing I'd say that is a slight saving grace. I hear Agarest is much much better than Cross Edge so I might check that out. Feel free to play this but I'd just skip over it and save yourself some money.

I'm in the same boat as you (owning all 3 systems) and I agree with you except for one thing. People in most cases don't buy the other consoles out of loyalty to another company, they do it b/c they can't afford it and therefore jealousy arises when the console they can't afford comes out with a great game or a better version of a game that was on the console they own.

@balsano Its got its ups and downs. I think IGN pretty much frowns on all RPGs that arent Final Fantasy or Zelda. I would avoid it unless youre a big fan of customisation, collecting, unlocking things etc. Its very repetitive so its more of a casual game but if youre the kind of person who likes distributing stat points and synthing items it /is/ addictive. Boss battles are fun but be warned; lots of random encounters and battles arent quick despite being similar to Ar tonelico/atelier etc.

Honestly I have no idea why IGN gave this game a bad review, its not that bad of a game for it to get a 3 out of 10. Personally, this game should have gotten a 7 out of 10 at the least. The story is cool, the soundtrack is EPIC, and the way they were able to collect characters for "Darkstalkers" "Mana Kehima 2" and "Disgaea" was very unique. My only problem with this game is that its super slow, and battles will take a while but its totally worth it. Ignore IGN buy this game!! PS: GO ETNA!!

i am so confused with what the Skill slots mean. i kno what they do..like the skill and the weapon have to have the same in order to eqiup them...but i dont get what Normal, Burst, and Down mean..like does it have any effect in the battlesystem? and what does the icon next to it mean..sometimes it has a green, red, blue, or yellow light icon..with a roman numeral...i dont get it...someone please help me

I hate that this seems to be one of the only companies willing to use 2d sprites, to the extent that fighting games as well.
2d sprites look great and move beautifully but everyone wants everything in 3d now
have nothing against 3d its just a bit aggravating that i can only get 2d on handhelds and downloads.

And I'm afraid a project like this just does not get a Crysis 2 graphical budget. All things considered I'd say they did well with what they had. I'm still trying to understand why this was released on a Blu-ray disc. Looks like a good game, but that's the kind of game you expect to see on the Playstation Store, or at least on the PSP. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game is bad because it has bad graphics... I just don't understand it...

The fanservice is probably the only thing I'd say that is a slight saving grace. I hear Agarest is much much better than Cross Edge so I might check that out. Feel free to play this but I'd just skip over it and save yourself some money.

i have ps3, 360, and wii. I get to play every game that comes out regardless of exclusitivity. You fan boys out there miss out on some really good games just because you want to stick with one system out of some misguided sense of loyalty to a company that doesnt give two shits about you. I get to play mass effect, lost odyssey, metal gear 4, uncharted, legend of zelda, and super smash bros. all being a fanboy accomplishes is limiting your own fun. I'm in the same boat as you (owning all 3 systems) and I agree with you except for one thing. People in most cases don't buy the other consoles out of loyalty to another company, they do it b/c they can't afford it and therefore jealousy arises when the console they can't afford comes out with a great game or a better version of a game that was on the console they own.

@balsano Its got its ups and downs. I think IGN pretty much frowns on all RPGs that arent Final Fantasy or Zelda. I would avoid it unless youre a big fan of customisation, collecting, unlocking things etc. Its very repetitive so its more of a casual game but if youre the kind of person who likes distributing stat points and synthing items it /is/ addictive. Boss battles are fun but be warned; lots of random encounters and battles arent quick despite being similar to Ar tonelico/atelier etc.

technicly your talking on the internet so no its not the land of the "free" and theres barley any diffrence between the xbox and PS3 just a slight varation in the depth of the colours which you can probably change... however PS3 does have blu ray etc but that does'nt mean much... and i have both of these consoles and play both online so can say both there net connections are perfectly fine... and im with

Ok, they launch this on x360 and it don't sell nothing, because it isn't like the best sellers (Disgaea for example) of NIS... Even I, that love NIS games, didn't like that, it's horrible!
I really hope that NIS do not use the low sellings of this shit as reason to don't publish any other game... I have only x360 and really wait Disgaea 3 for my console someday :(
