If all things were theoretically equal your suggestion would be valid,but it isn't. Markets don't really sell the best products globally. Tariffs, trade barriers, politics, and other factors skew product availability and opinion. I say keep the union and quit paying senators 174k a year to work a few days a week.

Screw those lazy UAW workers who make crap!!! If U.S. automakers didn't pay their workers an average of $29.25 per hour (plus huge pensions and benefits) to make gas-guzzling junk cars, then they wouldn't need the bailout from us taxpayers. Most Americans don't make anywhere near $29.25 per hour--so why should we hand over our hard-earned money to UAW workers? I was fooled into buying 5 pieces of American crap, but never again. My current Toyota has over 260,xxx miles.
