like your attitude bro. your not gear-obsessed, unlike many others, and you go for what you know you will need, and contented with it. i'll be having a 50d soon, but the 24-70, it will be a long time before i could own one. its a little pricey..
ya i watched the video because of lensprotogo and for some strange reason i am in the market for a 40-50d thats why i was looking for more info about the company
i see everything went ok for you so i will def rent a 50d for a week before i spend 1500 bucks on a camera and lens
Glad you like it, I am wanting one of these lenses, a buddy of mine has one, and loves it, but he lives so far away, I have not been able to hold it in my hands.
Yes, weight is heavy on it, but it's built like a tank, and I guess u just have to be careful your tripod is tightened down, or the thing can flip forward and hit your lens on the tripod leg.
Glad u r enjoying it - it's one of the best lenses Canon makes.
yeah its awesome man. no complaints.... well maybe being that it is my only lens at the moment, it is a little on the heavy side. When i mount it on my my crappy tripod it feels like everything is just going to break loose and fall to the floor because of the weight. .... lol. Oh well, its a beautiful lens! I can always get a new tripod.
I AM SOOOO JELOUS RIGHT NOW, dude you are soooo lucky, that lens and the 24-105 have been haunting me and a friend of mine for about a year now, We are finally starting up a Wedding Photography business and the 24-70 is on the PRIORITY list now as it is a MUST HAVE to go along with my 70-200, The sigma is amazingly crap compared to the canon (THE SIGMA IS GREAT, but against the canon it is SCUM!!!!)
Do you think this lens is wide enoughat 24mm? I have a 50D and am looking for a new walk around lens and am deciding between the 24-70mm and the 17-40mm.
Well for awhile I was shooting with just a 50mm 1.4, and I wanted a lens that was wider. To compare 24mm to 50mm, i'd say its a pretty big difference. And I'm plenty happy with it. I used to have a 17-85mm and the 17mm was great, but the 24mm has been just fine for me so far. I have yet to be in a situation where I needed less than 24mm.
The lens is nice. Little heavy, but that would be the only downside, but I have gotten used to it. I was looking for the perfect general purpose lens and this lens was what was narrowed down to me. This or the 24-105L. I heard more good things about the 24-70 so I went with it. Plus IS isn't that important with just a range of 24-70. And you get the shallow DOF if that's what you like. Then you can always buy a 70-200 to compliment it. Great lens.
Yeah it's a great camera. Like I said if you don't need 15mp then you might as well just go with the 40D, they're practically the same camera. I myself just wanted a larger camera that felt better in my hand and a faster burst rate. So the 40D was perfect. I might have lost 2MP in my "upgrade" but 10MP is more than enough for the average photographer. So no regrets from me.

how are you enjoying your new lens ? , it's an amazing lens, you pay big $ for something that can use f2.8 throughout the entire zoom range.

17-40mm f4.0 L
24-70mm f2.8 L (as soon as it arrives :D )
70-300mm f4-5.6 (which is a little bit disappointing compared to the L lenses)

eh saved up for a month or two. Plus I sold my previous 450D, 50mm, and 17-85mm. But its an awesome combination. I have yet to regret it.
