Guys I really need some help, I managed to get my Bettas to breed and lay eggs for the first time ever. However, for months and months now I have had serious problems with getting them to eat. They are growing DAMN slowly (much slower than the guppies born after them and who are now mature). Only two have survived and are growing very slowly. If you have any ideas please message me! Thanks
You try changing out 35% to 45% of the water? Weekly! I haven't breed any betta before but I have with guppies, what I learned is that not changing the water will stunt their growth. Guppie fry releases a chemical and some how stunts the growth of the other fry in the same tank.
@goibee check your ph levels. also are you water changing the breeding tank? try adding a ferw drops off stress coat. how big is your tank? are you leaving the parent in the tank while they grow? you should research these things

If they won't eat it than starve them for a couple days so that he'll be hungry. It won't hurt them, since they can go without food for much longer.

A 10 gallon might be a bit much for them. in the wild they live in puddles and in captivity breeders keep them in tanks smaller then a half gallons. so they dont have a lot of muscle built up(a small mirror outside the tank should help. but take it away after an hour or so of play fighting with his reflection). So unless ur going to breed them I would suggest keeping them in a 1gallon fish bowl with gravel and at least 1 plant.They shouldnt need a heater unless its under 62 degre
@BloodxLover I always thought you have to keep the temp in the 78-82 degree range. These guys are tropical fish from a warm climate so how can you let the temp get under 70's into the 60's? And I don't think they live in "puddles" but in rice fields which are football field sized.
@TenaciousBrii If you get another,make sure you get plants.Bettas need plants to feel safe & shade.Also, use natural colored gravel like brown.Unnatural colors like red,blue,green,etc.cause stress.Keep the tank covered & temp at least 78 degress to make it humid.If they gulp cold air, they can get respiratory illness & die.If you have a filter,make sure it doesn't cause too much current.They need calm water.Also,feed a varied diet.Imagine eating same thing everyday.Good luck & God bless you.

@Amarix89 I just got a fish from Walmart. They usually, and surprisingly, have more albino's than Petsmart or Petco. I just got a BEAUTIFUL albino betta, with purple and red on it. But unfortunately when I got it, the container was filled with old flakes (their food) and feces. Whenever I put it in my mom's rather large vase, it only took him 30 minutes to relax in his new home. THAT'S pretty sad.
love the bettas , they are all soo beautifull. and the music!!! well , lets just say that I stayed the whole 6 or 7 minutes watching. that was smart.. cause i wouldn't have stayed longer than 3 mins if not for the music... love them both!!

These were probably dyed, and dyed fishes dont have a good chance of living like 35% because a needle like a pencil comparing to the size of humans was put on them probably.
@Nathandawnspear1 These bettas are NOT DYED. They are carefully bred for their color and fins. Due to their short time to maturity many generations can be bred in a relatively short amount of time. They also have very large amounts of eggs(up to 300!) so even a rare combination of color and finnage can be produced in just a few tries. Inbreeding also doesn't cause as many problems as you'd normally see. Dying/tattooing fish is a horrible practice that I would never do anything to continue.

Okay so 00:07. I bought a Dragon Scale betta who looks like that but with different colors. Is it male or female and can you breed a Halfmoon betta with a dragon scale
@DiamondAsheaka There were a couple and that's because Veiltails aren't really shown a whole lot anymore. breeders breed more of the other kinds and less and less of the veils.
@DiamondAsheaka It's because a lot of people think they're not as pretty to look at as some of the others. I personally like double tails plakats and crowntails. Veils to me are okay if I can find ones that have the shorter tail or interesting colors but they have a hard time swimming with the longer tails.
Respond to this video... Mostly just bad genetics though. They're over bred... which is why on any one fish you can have like 3-5 different colors... and I don't like that. I like the solid or 2-color ones.

Ive been stalking aquabid for a year now. the betta's their just beautiful. i love all bettas but those ones are just. i want a properly bred betta so much. i even have a 15 gallon tank lying in wait for the day when i can own one. ive spent the past year growing the plants and keep the ghost shrimp happy. unfortunately i dont have a credit card, so ill have to keep watching for now... one day. i did manage to score a copper double tail half moon at petco for 4 dollars

Go to any gas station or grocery store and buy a prepaid Visa Gift Card. Works just like any CC would. Could also go to a bank and set up an E-Banking account or w/e their free account is and dump whatever amount of money you need to use in there.
