  • @57dogsbody ...Fact ?...clarify...where you there ?

  • This is a rave with way better music, clothes and dancing! Send me back in time now! Lovely fancy footwork.

  • Always found the "soul shuffle" the most impressive to see done well. It takes a lot of practice at first and you really have to be fit (as well all know). I was never light enough on my feet to maintain it for long - plus I didn't take anything to assist me either. Seen some spectacular "shufflers" in the past - epsecially to tunes like: Creative Source - Don't be afraid to take my love; Brainstorm - Loving is really my game. Pity that only a few good dancers of the many are caught on film

  • @RitmoNo1 l just went to dance ,listern to the music ,meet great people ,and l can say hand on heart l never took pills to dance the way l did ,only a few people did ,most could dance all night without any form of pills and the like ,,l am not the only one who feels that we should all be put in the same class as them who did

  • @scarthogirl Amen to that! A natural high kept me going as well - I was there at the end of the night too!

  • @RitmoNo1 nice one my friend

  • Thank God for Blueys, Dex,'s, Green and clears, Black bombers and all the other lovely colours that kept us going all night long all those year ago. Best times of my life..Keep the faith from one of Dobie Gray's people... The in crowd!!

  • That 1st time the cameras came Id gone upto the Mecca 1st like alot of times and we heard the cameras were coming. We had a load of green n clears off one of Colins mates, Id got a big bag of speckly blues and we all tried to out dance each other. • Sad news to report that Willie Mitchell passed away yesterday a a hospital here in Memphis at the age of 81. He had suffered a broken hip last September followed by a cardiac arrest in December. He will be missed.

  • @titanfan458 wow that is sad news

  • @titanfan458 that is sad news . Willie RIP

  • Absolute classic Willie Mitchell. All the stick he got at the time of release about ripping 'Satisfaction' but an amazing track

  • great times at the casino, never to be forgotten.keep the faith,

  • The driving beat along with The champion by Willie Mitchell are both absolute classic old scholl NS stompers

  • I heard this so many times this years after an absence of twenty yrs the knees are knackered but I keep on going

  • This track is "That driving beat" by Willie Mitchell and this is the original and ,as far as I know ,only version

  • Hi Hoopoe ... nunkiesteve was asking what track was the guys in the video dancing to... which was Frankie crocker .. I just replaced it with Wille Mitchelll .. hope this clears it up .... Ktf

  • Ah I see. :)

  • KTF, Greetings from Memphis. I have to watch this at least once a week for a pick-me-up. It is killer! Smokin' hot footwork. The tune is a great fit for the vid - i wouldn't have known except for reading some of the older posts and catching the title-ing right at the start. I know the song had to come out before '86 - I've got it on a Willie Mitchell Best of album from around '77, I think. It sounds way earlier than that - like early '70s or even late '60s. Anybody got a firm fix on this?NC

  • Hi Titanfan .... I thought I had lost my copy of Willie Mitchell but just found it ... The release date was 1965 a good year for music and it is the B side to " everythings gonna be alright " hope this clears everything up ... Ktf..

  • Many thanks, KTF72! I thought it was from way back - has that sound alot like Sam the Sham's Wooly Bully. I wonder who played sax on it-could have been James Mitchell (Willie's brother) or more likely Wayne Jackson of the Mar-Keys(Memphis Horns). Anyway, monster tune and classic video!

  • Hi KTF 72, This single wasn't released until 1986 so what record were these guys dancing to? Or am I mistaken??

  • Frankie loveman Crocker - ton of dynamite .. was the original track .... Ive redone the the vid with this as it was .. just do a search if you want to listen to it ..

I tried putting in the link to it but youtube wont let me ...

    Ktf

  • P Funk is the man! ktf

  • allways loved this tune!

  • Rock and roll meets MC Hammer!

  • can anybody tell me the b side to Judy Street .What.

  • now why do i get the impression that this is a windup lol!! The b-side is you turn me on

  • just think wigan use to be the centre of the world. fuckin hell that's a scary thought

  • @criztafer and heres me thinking people only went to Wigan to find the fxxxing pier!!

  • @criztafer was too

  • @criztafer it was too for me ..................

  • gosh i miss those days

  • Wish I could of been there in the day,but a little before my time. My inspiration came from a lot of people from Widnes who went to the Casino and taught me the dance moves and lead me on to KTF til this day. Thx to Al Kinsella my true inspiration. Cheers Bud.

  • YEAH move your feet, I just love It!!!!

  • i was looking for my brother amongst the dancing ,his name was dave goodall.(a,k.a. RED)from telford shropshire.he was a regular way back when and didnt i know about it.class posting.

  • this is were i got my insperation from wen learning to dance to northern

with bein so young i never got chance to got to wigan but wish i did

    KTF !

  • P Funk has got the moves and is also my dad :) Bit weird watching my dad dance like that! I will have to get him to teach me!

  • Just heard off your Dad ... bet he was shocked seeing him self on youtube .. Ktf..

  • Mesmerising. Not in usual spot front left that night; number of regulars absent - didn't want cameras in. Jethro best dancer (placing 3rd behind Caesar

'74); remember him in full length top-coat, green & white striped shirt and cords with umpteen pleats and a yard wide spinning around in the Beachcomber - hope your'e Okeh wherever you are. Sandy may have won a dancing competition but his moves were choreographed in the gym, not heartfelt on the floor - Northern Dancers do it on their feet...

  • Jethro...old mate of mine from '74 onwards...love of MkII Jags understandable....but Grandfather clocks was a bit odd!

Real name wasn't Jethro...Jeff Jones....killer dancer and top guy....from way back... Catacombs, Torch, Function at the Junction....I hear he's in L.A. now...gotta be better than Wolverhampton or Telford....easy to wind up about his appearance on ToTp with....I think either Wigan's Ovation or Wigan's Chosen Few...wind up for years from that..still one of the BEST. Jack...Ktf SKF

  • don cha just love this, I can't thank u enuff for this.

  • P

FUNK can move for a white boy. Shiiitttt I can move like that at 331/3 speed! hahaha. They' re having fun.

  • @billeybop Dave (P-Funk) could "move for a boy" of any colour...As could many of the dancers at Wigan,Blackpool,Stoke,Cleethorpes ect ect ect .

  • Loved it! Full of energy and enthusiasm

  • WOW ....they can sure dance !!

  • I met Junior walker in London at the now defunct Astoria theatre... He said to me "Get out of my dressing room".... Classic...

  • I met Junior Walker and dya know what he said to me? He said "I wish you would stop fkin quoting me all the time"

    :0)

  • Do you notice that everyone here is having a great time posting thier comments on good music and musing on days gone by and then along come Eddie Hittor (not his real name) Eddie is that chap who has nothing to say but still says it...

  • Bill ...if your not happy with his comments I`ll delete them ...

  • I adore this Willie Mitchell sound. Can anyone point me in the right direction of similar tunes from this era ? Mighty appreciated.

  • Hi Walesfan1... check out The Champion- Willie Mitchell ... just as good and probably better than this track ...

  • Thank you Mr keepingthefaith72. I just purchased a Willie Mitchell best of, so I know of the Champion etc, but I'm looking for other artists with similar tempos, e.g. Footsie , Wigans finest etc. My mate and myself are going to do a Northern soul bash here in sunny South Wales, he's the expert in the soul department, but I was hoping to find some manic stomping tunes. If only I could dance like the guys in the Willie Mitchell clip. Keep up the good work pal.

  • check out Frankie (loveman) crocker - Ton of Dynamite or Velvet satins -Nothing can compare to you ... for stompers ..

  • You are the main man ! That frankie Crocker track is just up my street, I liked it so much I just bought the track on Northern soul 70's floorshakers from amazon for approx 4 quid, worth the money just for that track alone. If I need any more help, I know who to ask, YOU !! Thanks again fella. Top Bloke !!!!!

  • go on h.m.v site and buy willie mitchells cd m8, fuckin brill

    good luck

  • get junior walkers greatest hits.

  • Johnny soul .. do you remember Takis on the corner portland st /Oxford road

  • no sorry ktf72. went to the jigsaw, wheel, and stax club in town.

  • I used to go to Takis and top of the town at around the same time as the wheel .. used to see lots of wheel goers on piccadilly train station late on ..
