2 to 1, water to rice. Boil lightly salted water. Add a bit of butter if desired. Add the rice. Bring back to a boil. Reduce heat to minimum and cover. Don't peek for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Perfect rice.

I was taught to boil the water then add the rice and set the rice to a simmer on low for 20 minutes.
