Even though I disagree with Milehigh587 source,wikipedia(non-reliable)­, he does have some truth. Europe does not have much of a military. The EU, as I've stated, is not a military alliance, just an economic one. Germany has a limited army still(which is the most populated country and has the biggest economy of all the EU countries),Spain doesn't, France's war history is horrible, we ALREADY have bases in Germany, and the rest of Europe is not in ANY shape to fight any war right now.

It jumped in 2 weeks, it won't stay there. The dollar hasn't lost more than a few cents. The only reason the Euro jumped is because the U.S. feds lowered the rates to .75%, and if Europe wants to fend off this global crisis, they'll do so as well. Also, as far as the EU's forces, the EU is not a military alliance. And Europe's military spending only makes up 26% of the World's Military Budget, the U.S.A. makes up 51% ALONE. Don't even get me started on the military technological gap.

Germany is near economic collapse along with the rest of the world due to our credit problem.

Think: if you order a piece of clothes for US$10 in the US, you pay US$10 on EU VAT and taxes and customs fee (which, of course, also excludes VAT that needs to be paid on top of it). Anything is 2-3x cheaper in the US than it is in the EU.
