  • After doing this with my school I have never listened to this song the same again.

  • i'm one of the singers in this- we slowed it down because of the location we were singing in. if we had gone any faster the HUGE auditorium area we were singing in, with people walking randomly about, would have blurred our words too much.

I loved singing this version and still 3 years later I think it sounds awesome.

    Go Dragons!

  • I personally don't like this version, but I won't say bad stuff about it. I just don't think it's fast enough. It's a little bit too boring. And seeing as this is a show choir, it should be acapella. Not many show choirs have directors conduct them. Also, since my choir does this, it's funnier when you add little jokes into the song, to make it enjoyable for the audience.

  • For people who know nothing about music, the actual title of the song is "Deck the Halls in 7/8"...

It would be quite an absurd statement to say "I think it's in 4/4 instead of 7/8". You clearly are not musically inclined, and are only saying "4/4" because it's the only time signature you've ever heard of.

Don't spout knowledge you don't actaully have.

  • HUMMMM there not talking in english right ......or are they..(wonders)

  • haha

  • Fantastico

  • this is my favorite performance of 7/8 so far. everything else ive heard is way too unbalanced. Good blend!

  • My chorus is doing this too.

    ^^

We hated it at first, but now we actually enjoy it's epicness.

  • sounds good but it should be almost 2x as fast

  • just a question isn't 7/8 technically the same thing as 3/4?

    hahaha light musical humor

  • no.

A 7/8 time signature implies 7 eighth note beats per measure, while a 3/4 time signature implies 3 quarter beats (or 6 eighth notes) per measure.

  • okay when i said light musical humor i suppose I should have said light math humor

  • I read this and burst out laughing.

  • Stanleh trying to sound like an expert - If you think this is in 4/4, you need a lesson in asymmetrical rhythm. Note how the conductor is beating a three pattern that is not symmetrical. How do you get 4/4 out of that? This is my new school now and if you are going to crack on them, you had better know what you are talking about. It is obvious you don't.

  • Stanleh, time signature and tempo are two different things. 4/4 can be taken at any tempo the conductor sees fit, as can 7/8 or any other time signature. The time signature is set and is not up to interpretation by the conductor.

At the same time, you've made an error, not commited a crime against man. The misconception is not necessarily your fault and todwfish and DULD954 are both out of line.

  • omg that sounds really good im singing this in choir and i dont know how were gonna do it!

  • It coulda been faster. But, it was really done nicely. When u do a GOOD song & it u do it FAST - ppl want more! So maybe I'm just thinking the director mighta wanted to slow it down so ppl could enjoy such good voices!

I'm very impressed cuz when I did this in high school, we didn't sound that good! I thought we did at the time, but I compare now and here I see that everyone had it together.

Good unity! Great balance! Excellent sound!

  • you all did a great job, but by slowing it down, you can no longer say that you have sung it in 7/8.

    very good otherwise.

  • That's such an idiotic comment. It's still in 7/8. They may have changed the speed, but not the time signature.
