  • Some people ask us why do we run....they don't understand.

In january of the past year I suffered a problem in the left knee (still suffering it some times) I stopped running until June, and the 15 th of July, when I was cycling to recover the muscle,I fell down my bike and broke my leg. In december, almost one year after I stopped,I came back to training in a static bike, over two weeks later running...Now I'm getting ready to return to athletics.

They don't understand, its not about win.

  • "Badly hurt in a fatal car accident" ???

  • Inspirational vid, I am getting back into running and this vid will be in my mind as I hit my wall. My wall will be pushed further every time I run

  • I Love Running this video always get me pumped to race!

  • this is beautiful, as is your attitude to life.

  • Runner4Life

  • You are like Terry Fox.

  • i run because of most of what you said

  • sweet story bro.

  • I run because it's the only thing that makes me feel powerful and confident

  • RUNNERS PRIDE!!

  • why does everyone not want you to lie down at the finish???? im so tired i like cant stand but they make me walk around wtf

  • @RunningCentral If you lie down right away after a race your heart can't take it and you could have a heart attack. So be happy they make you walk around:)

  • nice

  • I love this video, so awesome and I am glad that I am a Runner as well

  • i love run, but my legs not

  • two minutes into this, i got up and went for a run. thank you.

  • What an incredible story. Simply amazing to say the least. I can relate completely. Running XC with my college is an amazing experience. I just finished up my first season with the team and loved every bit of it. Running helps you escape any stress in life. During your run you feel completely free, like everything is right. Running isn't just a hobby or past time... it's a way of life <3 :)

  • Wow. That's really motivating. Our team when through something like that. Our number 3 man got leg fractures and our number 5 man quit the team due to personal issues, and we plummeted. Unfortunately we don't have a story of winning anything after that. But we all worked harder for the sake of our other teammates, and we did run the best race in our teams history, and got 5th in Districts despite everyone telling us we couldn't do better than 9th.

  • I hate cross country running, but I LOVE being Part of the team. You should never run alone, you do much better when there's someone pushing you to keep up with them, someone encouraging you to keep going... CrossCountry is hard on the body and mind, but made much easier with teammates.

  • I'm not knocking the creator of the video. He's obviously worked very hard on his running and this video. I do disagree when he said that the only way to improve is to run longer or harder. Form is critically important in running. So you can also improve by running with better form.

  • yes yes

  • Inspiring!

  • man i wish i had some nice places to run at. guess that doesn't really matter. i just need to stop bein a lazy ass

  • Oh God, now I really want to run but can't since I'm injured.

  • @DIRECTVable Oh my god me too... Right before the district meet I tore the ligaments in my foot... coach was...errr... not the happiest with me then..lol

  • @JamesA9422 Oh man, haha I got injured right in the middle of the season, I just hope I'm all better by Track season. Hope you get better.

  • @DIRECTVable Aww that sucks... you'll get better in time for Track though. It doesn't take too long. Thanks and good luck with the running though!

  • great clip,

whose Quote is at the last seconds of the clip?

  • Salisbury Steak

  • bro <3

  • nice this is so inspirational

  • Finally! I hate it when people call me a "jogger" I RUN DAMNIT!

  • @sgtliam10 I DONT 'PLAY' TRACK AND 'PLAY' CROSS COUNTRY, BECAUSE IT ISNT A GAME

  • 1:57, those look like some nice Saucony's Kill Kennys

  • if world record for 3k was 12 mins, i would have broke it loads of time.

  • congrats man. i ran cross country til i broke my leg and it cant heal fml i would do anything to have it back in my life. cross country is self mutilation, and no one even cares about it. no one from school comes to cheer u on, its just about u and ur buddies going through the exact same thing next to ,

  • Run happy =)

  • 0:19----> to get inside

  • AMEN!!!

  • You life sounds like a movie, and it really touched me. Thanks for this, really a good inspiration for a 16 year old as me.

  • the only day our team gets off is christmas...

  • wait, why did you become the assistant coach? did u graduate, or get injuered?

  • i get lazy to run at 6am -_____-

  • it's 105 degrees outside, this guy ran in 112. I can do it

  • just awesome

  • So true!

  • I found this video 2 years ago, and every time-before a big race, I hop on the computer to watch this. Today, in a few hours, I'm going to race in the state finals cross country. Thank you you so much for this video. I'll post my result after the race.

  • @wazes2011 I came back from the finals a few hours ago and was rather pleased with my self. Out of the top 200 runners of my state in my age group-U15 boys. I ran as hard as I could have and finished in 7th place. It was a 3km cross country race and I ran it in 9:22- a new PB. Once again, its because of your inspiration that made me more determined and successful in my love for running. THANKYOU :D

  • @wazes2011 9:22? i could just be a dumbass, but isn't the world record 12 something?

  • Runners are a different breed of athletes, I mean our sport is other sports' punishment. Love the video and good luck coaching.

  • Brillant video,i run because its like a high for me and like meditation. If i ever feel down,i run harder and i love it because it makes me want to run further to see how i can push myself,i push through the pain and feel at peace when i get back. You understand running,i believe running is good because it teach you not to quit and not give up just like in life.Thank you for the video

  • excellent video. this encompasses why I run, and I'm sure why lots of others do. congratulations on your conference and keep running.

  • I feel exactly as you. I only wish I had a forest to run in.

  • well done video friend...I am a 10k and duathlon person myself...well done

  • great video. ehat was your best 5k time?

  • Awesome video :)

  • i totally understand everything you just said. maybe i don't know how you feel about your teammates getting in that crash, as that never happened to me, but everything else is very well said and so amazingly true. i also run in every kind of weather, all year long, everyday, taking only sunday as a day off once in a while. i am the only one on my team that does that and i inspire the other runners, even some of the guys! job very well done on this. stride on! :)

  • 1:55 i have and love those shoes

  • awesome video nice job

  • 7-15 miles a day for the past 8 years? damn, that is dedication. I wish I had that. I'm lucky if I run twice a week.

  • When I ran all my thoughts are tamped down into a deeper site of knowing, and all my fears wither away.

  • dude i tell you the truth, i hate running because honestly im terrible at it, but watching your video was truly inspiring, and i take my hats off to you and every other runner here on how much heart you put into your passion! cheers!

  • I just wanna say: thank you! I didn't intended to run to day but I paused your video, went outside and now 1.5hours later I'm back. Guess what, It was the best run I'd ever had! Thanks for inspiring others and make me feel united with people all over the world who share the same passion: running! :).

  • i run because i love it

  • I run so im not fat like everyone else in america lol not really

  • ive done a couple 50k's this past month. honestly i never met a distance runner that gets winded or tired, we only stop running when our muscles stop working. i personally never been winded, but ive caught amazing cramps i had to run through

  • 29 people are out of shape losers who can't even run the mile in gym. 893 people left those 29 to eat their dust.

  • are you alive ,uploader? :D

  • dude this made me want to run so i did and its 12 16 am and theres 2 inches of snow on the ground!

  • Why don't you run into Burger King and get a job?

  • fuck the 28 people that hit dislike losers! i bet they work at mc donalds!! god as a runner myselfe i cant beleive people have the nerve to do that.

  • This video is alright but if you want real inspiration, read "once a runner" and then you will find the dedication and struggles it takes to be a runner.

  • @Michaellanaser Just curious which edition did you read (publication year?) ? Thanx!

  • The only reason I run is that I can do it alone. I guess I might be a sociopath or just antisocial.

  • 28 people are fat as shit

  • @Svartljus don't you think fat people would be watching this for inspiration?

  • @Svartljus make that 31 now! :/

  • @Svartljus now its 31 people! its an epidemic!

  • @Svartljus 32 at last count

  • Thank you so much for this! It's SO inspiring.

  • nobody understands why you love running at school but its because of the high you get when you come in first place!

  • i run to get away from my problems

  • Yeah, distance runners are better!!!

  • You have just enlightened the millions of megabites packed inside the corners of my brain, in an astounsihing five minutes and fifty seven seconds. Brother, you are legend. I'm running for the rest of my life!

  • thank you for making this. it is not only an inspiration to me, but to fellow viewers as well.

  • This was beautifully written. It paints a familiar picture.

  • I love this.

    SOOOOOOOOOO FREAKIN' MUCH.

I want to go run a million miles now.

  • I want to like this video a million times....

    keep on running..

  • sprinters!!!

  • @mojomatt176 why?

  • @SciFye64 To cause controversy.

  • The car "flew into a ditch and caught on fire" bcz it crashed into the runners!? Damn those guys must've been fast!

  • Running is the only sport that I enjoy - the mental discipline that it takes to be a real runner is felt throughout the team, unlike in many sports when the team has no dynamic.

  • hey do u still run??...love the vid it touched me

  • Brother, you have just vocalised my entire reason for running.

  • I have been looking for something to inspire me to run i think i found it! I love to run but i cant get inspired to push myself harder now everything i run i think bout this and i push myself harder.

  • running is heaven

  • Great video bud! Im a runner too and agree with most of your points!

  • 0:42 "Longer and Harder" oh yes!

  • I ran 50 marathons in 56 days last year raising over £33,000 for charity. Running has made me who I am, i owe everything to it. I ran 3,152 miles in 2010

  • Great video. Inspired and eloquent :)

  • 1. "breathing, perhaps you" this should be a period.

    2. you just assume i sit on my couch and eat "Cheetos"?

    3. what grammar mistakes did i make?

    4. why would i mouth out words when i can just type them..

  • you're a foaggot, no one cares.

  • @MashMassacre After you're done picking off the twinkie crumbs from your navel (quite a buildup from all those hours on the couch) and you're able to form a sentence in spite of the consistent mouth breathing, perhaps you can mouth out words before you type them? Even the most brain-impaired, knuckle-dragging troglodytes learn the value of proofreading before firing out trite insults. You're in our prayers as much as a group can pray that you never, ever reproduce.

  • cool stay cocky

  • Good job! I do the same. More and more...daily. Keep running!

  • I want to be a better runner!

  • great video. great!

  • thanks for this video guys.

i'm using it as inspiration for my drumming too, as well as running. eventually i hope to go to berklee to study drums.

meanwhile you make sure you keep your fire alive.

    love

    singapore

  • Well done! Thank you!!

  • I can 100 % relate to this video!

  • I used to run, but my leg and knees are full of injuried becouse I used to run too much:( I wanna run again!

  • I really only feel good during the first half or so of my run, and after I finish, the 2nd half most of the time is hard both mentally and physically.

  • "When a runner finishes a race he either makes excuses, questions whether or not he ran as hard as he could have, or lies at the finish knowing that he gave everything he had." this quote's gonna be in the back of my mind all throughout outdoor. lol. thanks!

  • i..... love...... you

  • Passion can be powerful and as powerful it is, it is also Wonderful...Make good use of the Gift.

  • this is an awesome video. i just wish the pictures showed you looking a little more athletic. i understand when u only run xc and not track you might now have the leg definition but shit. i hope i never lose to someone that looks like this, but i am a 400m 800m runner and in xc races i'm sure i have...

  • Why do I run? Because everything else is just a game.

  • Running was how coach punished us when I played sports in school. I hated it and thought the cross country team was crazy....Fast forward 13 years, I'm waking up before dawn tomorrow and running 10 miles and racing in my first half marathon in two weeks. Love the run!

  • fucking epic!!!!!!!

  • nice 1 :)

  • yay!

  • I love this video

  • Big Pumpkin Run 2010 - Supergirl runs in GA, Amazing!!

  • I was really struggling with getting up the motivation to run today (my short run of the week, too! ugh...). But watching this really helped me to get out there and push harder than I have in a long time. I don't run to compete. I just run for that feeling I have afterwards... like I can conquer anything.

  • Great video, what video editing did you use??

  • this video is so cool

  • im a runner and man do i love it i think of it hey its keepin me out of trouble and its keeping me healthy but i have grew an amazing family by doing it yes it hurts bad horable at times but i keep going

  • Favorite this video now!

  • i hate running. your video makes me want to go to sleep

  • i hate running. your video makes me want to go to sleep

  • I am a very dedicated high school runner and this video is amazing. However, I made the mistake of watching it while I have an injured achilles tendon. I want to run so bad right now!

  • homo

  • This is great video. I just showed it to my xc team last meet!

  • you strike me as a bit of a homo

  • @deckomanilo you strike me as an ignorant, uneducated, fat man

  • @DeflectiveCheese do you think he's also a homo though? or do you know because you've banged his arse?

  • You guys should see Marathon Man. I'm not even a professional runner and it made me want to run!

  • "some people run to see who they will lose to... I run, to see who has a bigger heart"

I'm a 14 year old boy and just got done running junior high state. I took third out of the whole state and this quote keep me going through the race.

  • yesterday I pr'd in the 5k by 1:15, why? Because i kept thinking to myself what you said "every part of your body is pleading for you to give up, run easy, but you resist the temptation" Thanks man :)

  • i am runner for my local high school and this movie truly inspired me! thank you so much! Best of luck to your team!!!

  • The people with negative comments are simply fat/lazy/ugly. Go back to your dark bar and rot away. :)

  • fuck running, smoke tobacco.

  • Well done!! Inspirational to runners!!

  • The 23 dislikes are from the broken scroll bar on their mouse. the 650 are from working scroll bars

  • Great commentary. Thanks.

  • Our sport is every other sports punishment.

  • @NateLundquist Saucony

  • his form is pretty bad

  • @AGod007 his torso is longer than his legs....

  • @TomsMVP

he's got pretty bad upper body form , torso is swinging around too much

  • @toby099 it doesnt matter as long as you feel comfortable

  • @TomsMVP landing on his heels >.<

  • @AGod007 well you did listen to him when he runs about 17.5 miles a day right? that video was probably taken on his 17.2 mile where he was exhausted and waiting to go home and rest

  • @Sagora123 7-15miles, and that is good, but runnign form should still be maintained, thats what truly makes you better, other than guts

  • dude i have ran at these meets the first was holds the tidewater invitational and the second is annapolis high school invitational

  • After running 3 10k's, a 15k, 2 half-marathons, and spending hot Texas summers training for my first marathon this December, I can honestly agree with this being true about running. All the sports I have done over the years didn't take near the mental discipline and personal sacrifice that distance running has taken. They also did not give the feeling of accomplishment and personal satisfaction that crossing a finish line does. If you haven't done it you can't understand.

  • @texasusa05 the feeling is good, you feel as if you gave in all of your best, and finally tires out ! :)

  • @texasusa05 true dat, when u crosss that finish line u feel great

  • @texasusa05 did you think the marathon was easy compared to the half marathons?, because i just went straight to running marathons.. i think im going to start bike'n ans swiming now though... lol

  • Fuckn! AWESOME!
