I love FFIX and it has my favorite characters in it. Zidane is my favorite protagonist because of his surprisingly layered personality. He's mostly a very cheerful guy, but he has some low points, too. Kuja is my favorite antagonist mostly because you can sympathize with him after learning his background, giving him some humanity. Most of the FF baddies just seem evil for evil's sake. Dissidia did a good job at depicting these traits, despite their story only being a fraction of the game.

@arfman777 Kuja's voice actor is actually Akira Ishida, same as Gaara! So good job there. :) Firion is voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa though, not the same guy that did Shikamaru.

It's part of the playplan, it rewards you items and exp bonuses depending on how many times you fight during the day. The Chocobo cry is to let you know you've earned a bonus.

Holy Star, Flare Star and Ultima are Kuja's HP attacks. His Brave attacks consist of variations of those spells, that's those "gay balls" he's using.

When Kuja says he will "Bask in the applause", is this him saying he really wants people to like him? And when Zidane asks why he can't belive in others, he dosn't say its because he is far superior and he dosn't need them, he says its because he will still be alone. And then he dosn't wanna think about it. I think kuja's hurt, and so hes not really evil.

Kuja's story in FF9 is rooted in his feeling inferior to Zidane, so I think this is an accurate take on his story. He wants to be liked, but even more he wants to be *recognized* for his accomplishments - good or evil. That's why all his dialogue with the other badguys is about how they will all recognize his brilliance, applaud him, etc.

Yes, Zidane is awesome. He spends much of FF9 flirting with the ladies and tossing out whitty quips. While many other heroes in the series are getting mopey and emo, Zidane carries through most of the game with a grin and a wink.

Zidane's easily one of the best heroes in the series, you should certainly play FF9 when you get a chance.

it was actually a metaphor. Kuja said "Allow me to play your requiem for you" which represents his attacking of Zidane, and Zidane said it was annoying. Then Kuja says it's just the first movement, and Zidane says the finish is now. It's all playing to Kuja's personality.
