@UsernameRaciel No, this one works like app or game. It has it's own filesystem. You just need a custom dashbord.

Hey, I remember back in the day, I didn't have enough to buy a computer so the Xbox with XDSL was my computer :) Used to chat on aim, and everything with it.

Hey there when i install Damn Small Linux on to my Xbox with loopback. It says it will install to one file. I installed my linux to the f drive but when i open the f drive up i can not see the loopback file. How do i uninstall linux from the xbox?

@PsPCRaZy2008 You just need to delete files manually. FileSystem can also be placed on other partitions, check on E: drive for loopback install.....

Directory order:

Knoppix folder - E:

Linux folder - E:/apps

linuxboot.cfg - E:

xdslfs - F:

knoppix.swp - F:

Hey i see why it was not working.

It did not like the F partition i dont know why. But when i install it to the E partition i can see all the files and folders.

I say it may have something to do with resizing the F partition as i have put a 750GB hard drive in my xbox and the xbox do not like any partitions over 256Gbs. So i had to resize the partition. But i dont know why it was not showing the files.

Am going to format the F drive and keep the Linux files on the E drive.

can yo help me figure out why i only get 640x480 and everytime i mess with the display xdsl upgrades it reboots with blank screen 800x600 would be nice i am using composite 40in sony bravia thanks

@1momerat99 I only made it with Xbox v1.0! Edited boot.cfg file (or similar that goes to root of the HDD). You can try it out but it didn't work for me with other versions.....

xdsl video upgrades also failed with my machine....

There`s a fix screen option under XDSL upgrades. For versions 1.1 to 1.6 ''fix screen 1.6'' works. And for higher resolution I edited cfg file.

Not really. Maybe with wine software, but there is also not enough RAM and the cpu is pretty slow. Check out the Linux pages. You should also try some linux on your PC/MAC, it kicks ass. (go with ubuntu or mandriva)

what if you upgrade your ram and your hard drive

on xbox will it work??

Upgrading ram requires soldering chip directly to the board and the maximum for upgrade is 128MB, so no way. It`s just not built for windows. There is win98 instalation tutorial somwhere on the net but it`s pretty slow and useless.

I think this is 1.5 and the latest is 1.6. Can`t remember since I tried several versions starting from 1.0.
