Lionel is in deep trouble. According to a representative of Lionel that I know, they have only 12 people working at the Corp. offices. They have sold all there properties just to stay affloat. Their new catalogue is a joke with $2500 engines with rebates. Rebates of what? They don`t have any money.

They just aquired K-line and they partnered with MTH for tinplate so I dont think they are going anywhere

I think i know why they are in trouble. I live in the UK, when i got thier JLC big boy, i asked about compatability and there products (as they said) arent compatible with 50HZ. I tell you they missed out on a big market here in the UK, MTH made them compatable with 50HZ and now look at them, MTH dealers up and down the UK.

lionel has been in deep trouble since Joshua Lionel Cowen's (founder of lionel) death. it fell faster after his son died 5 years later.

@shnimmuc I knew something was fishy about Lionel's corporation! Their vision line is a joke! All it is is a a gimmick to try to empty the pockets of people in order for them to look good and say that they are actually competing with MTH. A lot of people dis MTH and I personally think that they have the best engines out there. Their prices are great and what you get for the prices is the best part. Protosound 2 is amazing and with the detail it makes one stellar engine!.

@shnimmuc Lionel's engines are way too expensive and are just not made well. Right now they are having trouble getting their products made because of problems with their factories overseas! I also always hear about people sending Lionel's products in because their sounds broke, their motor won't work, their smoke unit exploded. What are they putting into their stuff???? Cheap plastic thats what it is! I only use lionel's fastrack and that is the only product I will ever buy from them!

ya i believe they come with atleast 10 figures per car. theres always the option to purchase and add more figures.

its a big loop with long straight aways. im lucky that i can make the loop but unlucky that i have a small basement so that means a small layout.

I will have more hopefully by xmas. I haven't gotten much new stuff lately. But MTH is set to ship some engines I have on order in December including the BNSF ES44DC Diesel. I also received a BNSF AC4400cw Diesel recently and hopefully will be getting the BNSF and NS AC6000's soon. So look for a new video filled with BNSF coming around xmas. That is if MTH ships when they say they will. Also if you and I are lucky the video may include the Orient Express.

Sorry, scratch that. I don't think I will be getting the Orient Express now. But I may be getting the N&W J with passenger cars. So maybe that will be on the next video. And I'm on the look out for a BIG Steamer such as a Challenger or a Big Boy so if I get one I will not hesitate to throw it on the track and shoot some video. I just got the new NS SD-80 from MTH today but it is the same as the one in my vids only with the new style logo. But I will give notice to new vids so stay posted.

MTH is the best...Lionel has never never put out this quality with the detail...don't wait for it to happen.

MTH completely owns lionel. If you like the traditional, nostalgic O scale, get lionel. But if you want quality, scale craftsmanship, you can't beat MTH.

lol thank you. I used to have a "chionel" RS-3. It blew out the traction tires, mashed the gears, and basically self-destructed the motor under a load. "magnetraction" be damned lol :P
