Yes Cloud cares about Tifa, but I think he cares for her as a friend and not anything else. And anyway in AC: cloud reaches out for Aerith's hand, that gave him strength, he still had Aerith in his memories and when Cloud was stabbed by Sephiroth, he had flashbacks of Aerith, Zack and his children with Tifa. To be honest, it really comes down to a matter of interpretation. There is really no 'canon' pairing, as the creators purposely provide enough evidence to support both 'C/A' and 'C/T' somewhat equally.

I think Cloud will always keep her with him and likewise but I do believe that it's made pretty clear in the end that he does love Tifa and chooses to spend his life with her and the children. In short - I believe both girls are in his heart in their own ways :)

@IamVendel I didn't give a timeline - I said in AC we see Cloud living with Tifa which is true. I only referenced Final Fantasy 7, Crisis Core and Advent Children. And furthermore, it's a game. It's not a bible. There is no wrong or right, there is just what people perceive. You don't see the folks at Square-Enix on here arguing "NO YOU ARE WRONG! IT IS THIS WAY!" They made it to be enjoyed by all and whether you enjoy the Clerith or Cloti pairing, it's the fact that you enjoy it that counts.

Listen I'm sorry if being wrong is destroying some fantasy world you built up in your head about how the story should have gone. But you will be a lot healthier once you learn to take things for what they are, rather than living in "it's true if I believe it" land.
(Cont.) I do believe Aerith realized that Cloud had "problems" but still felt attached and compelled to find out more about him. I think beyond just love, Cloud and Aerith were great friends. So when she died, Cloud felt incredible loss and guilt. He had failed Zack twice and lost a great friend. I believe that in AC, Cloud learns to let go of that guilt and picks up the pieces of his mostly shattered existence with Tifa, who is also his friend and whom he cares deeply for.
(Cont.) Cloud repressed his memories and took on Zack's persona. So, it is my personal belief that in his subconscious, he remembered Zack's words. I think when he met her he was very drawn to her and also had that need to protect her (especially seeing how ShinRa was pursuing her). Aerith is Tifa's polar opposite and so it was a change from the only girl he'd ever really known personally. She probably intrigued him. I think Aerith was initially attracted to him because of his likeness to Zack.
I saw all the arguments here and had to throw in my two cents. I am and have always been an Aerith fan to the end. Not that I hate Tifa or anything, she's cool. I use to love the Clerith pairing but now that I'm older and have played the game, seen Advent Children and played Crisis Core, I believe their relationship to be more complex than just unsung love. If you play Crisis Core, at the end you hear Zack speaking and he mentions "When you meet Aerith, watch over her", something to that degree.
IAmVendel, which movie did you see with that ending? I believe in the end of AC Cloud rides his motorcycle ALONE and in the old version there was Aerith waiting for him in the flowerfield :D ACC Aerith wasn't there but Cloud was still riding...ALONE! Old version wanted to show that Aerith will always be with Cloud but because of you Clotis it was probably removed and replaced with a story where Cloud has become independent and walks his own path!

Let's break down the factors. Aerith died. Cloud spent his last night on earth with Tifa. Then right after the final battle told Tifa that he has her in a way that was different than before. And that he will succeed because he has her. Then they live together, build a home and start a family. What exactly is SE trying to say?

"Tifa thought she could get over anything while being with friends that she could call her family" - Tifa clearly states her family is made up of friends. Hell, even Tifa says herself in AC that their family can't even be considered as real, a real family is through wedlock, romance, isn't it? Runing out of space here, but I could go on. Fuel me, lol.

Why does Cloud refer to it as "my family" when talking about Tifa,Marlene and Denzil? Why are they always described as such? And separated out from their friends? Because they ARE a real family.
Tifa confronting Cloud in the bedroom and calling him out on his BS is the turning point in the movie. She is lamenting that maybe the past two years were an illusion because Cloud wont go save their children. So when she says "i guess that only works on real families" it is her basically hitting rock bottom. Her entire life has been destroyed. Her children are gone and her partner is unresponsive. BUT THIS MOMENT causes Cloud to act. He goes to protect his family
He goes and confronts the SHM and saves Marlene in the process. He flat out tells Marlene that he is going to be there for them now. Cloud has pulled his head out of his ass. Tifa , Marlene and Denzel recognize it immediately. Cloud has gotten over his issues and after the movie he returns to his family. Where he is meant to be. And that is not with his friends. It is with his family. His partner and the children they raise together.
Hahaha, if Cloud loves so much Tifa then he is the worst boyfriend ever for her :D Hanging out with Aerith and risking his life to save her and ignoring her most of the time. Remember the scene when Aerith was kidnapped by the Turks? Tifa and Barret were arguing and Cloud ignored them completely. He did not stand up for Tifa he was only thinking about saving Aerith. And please IamVende, when exactly did Cloud choose Tifa? I believe in the end of FF7 Cloud reached for Aerith's hand and smiled.

Fact is at best Aerith realized shortly before her death that she was chasing Zack's shadow and came to her senses that Cloud was messed up in the head. It only took a few weeks but there ya go.

LOL... I agree on some parts, but when Zack said "If you see Aerith, say Hi for me" most probably meant "if you see her, treat her well" or something along that lines. Cloud hasn't even met Aerith at that point. But yeah, Cloud technically 'stole' his best friend's girlfriend by accident lol.

Aerith is your default date. It's MUCH harder to get Cloud to date Tifa. This means you have to work HARDER to get any sort of affection between the two of them to show.

And no it is not hard AT ALL to get the Tifa date. In fact that only thing you have to do to ensure you get the Tifa date is not take Aerith with you to see Dyne. HELLO ARBITRARY GAME MECHANICS.

And it still doesn't beat that Aerith is the default date. She starts out with the highest affinity levels from the get go. Aerith begins with 50 whereas Tifa only has 30. The LTD isn't about who loves Cloud, as it is stated several times that both Aerith and Tifa like Cloud, but it's a fight over who Cloud loves.

To be honest, it really comes down to a matter of interpretation. There is really no 'canon' pairing, as the creators purposely provide enough evidence to support both 'C/A' and 'C/T' somewhat equally.

(Cont.) I think by the end of AC, everything is set right and yes, Cloud ends up with Tifa. He can't be with Aerith anyhow because...well... she's gone. I think Cloud will always keep her with him and likewise but I do believe that it's made pretty clear in the end that he does love Tifa and chooses to spend his life with her and the children. In short - I believe both girls are in his heart in their own ways :)

@IamVendel I didn't give a timeline - I said in AC we see Cloud living with Tifa which is true. I only referenced Final Fantasy 7, Crisis Core and Advent Children. And furthermore, it's a game. It's not a bible. There is no wrong or right, there is just what people perceive. You don't see the folks at Square-Enix on here arguing "NO YOU ARE WRONG! IT IS THIS WAY!" They made it to be enjoyed by all and whether you enjoy the Clerith or Cloti pairing, it's the fact that you enjoy it that counts.

And yes there is a right and wrong answer. And SE does not have to come on individual youtube vids to tell you the timelines (that just sounds insanely idiotic). They have these things called Ultimania that tell you exactly what happens and when.
That is why when I make a statement it's not "what I like" it's "what SE says it is".

(Cont.) I do believe Aerith realized that Cloud had "problems" but still felt attached and compelled to find out more about him. I think beyond just love, Cloud and Aerith were great friends. So when she died, Cloud felt incredible loss and guilt. He had failed Zack twice and lost a great friend. I believe that in AC, Cloud learns to let go of that guilt and picks up the pieces of his mostly shattered existence with Tifa, who is also his friend and whom he cares deeply for.

(Cont.) Cloud repressed his memories and took on Zack's persona. So, it is my personal belief that in his subconscious, he remembered Zack's words. I think when he met her he was very drawn to her and also had that need to protect her (especially seeing how ShinRa was pursuing her). Aerith is Tifa's polar opposite and so it was a change from the only girl he'd ever really known personally. She probably intrigued him. I think Aerith was initially attracted to him because of his likeness to Zack.

I saw all the arguments here and had to throw in my two cents. I am and have always been an Aerith fan to the end. Not that I hate Tifa or anything, she's cool. I use to love the Clerith pairing but now that I'm older and have played the game, seen Advent Children and played Crisis Core, I believe their relationship to be more complex than just unsung love. If you play Crisis Core, at the end you hear Zack speaking and he mentions "When you meet Aerith, watch over her", something to that degree.

I believe in the end of AC Cloud rides his motorcycle ALONE and in the old version there was Aerith waiting for him in the flowerfield :D ACC Aerith wasn't there but Cloud was still riding...ALONE! Old version wanted to show that Aerith will always be with Cloud but because of you Clotis it was probably removed and replaced with a story where Cloud has become independent and walks his own path!

Maybe that is why they changed the credits of AC/C. Because of idiot shippers making absurd claims.

Vend, why does it bother you? Cloud can even go on a "twisted" date with Barret. Btw, Tifa also lived with Barret, Marlene, Biggs, Jessie and Wedge ...is there also romance between them? Cloud lived in Aerith's church! About that "canon" thing, you should read Clerith.com. There are excellent points which should convince everybody!

Let's break down the factors. Aerith died. Cloud spent his last night on earth with Tifa. Then right after the final battle told Tifa that he has her in a way that was different than before. And that he will succeed because he has her. Then they live together, build a home and start a family. What exactly is SE trying to say?

It is with his family. His partner and the children they raise together.

Remember the scene when Aerith was kidnapped by the Turks? Tifa and Barret were arguing and Cloud ignored them completely. He did not stand up for Tifa he was only thinking about saving Aerith. And please IamVende, when exactly did Cloud choose Tifa? I believe in the end of FF7 Cloud reached for Aerith's hand and smiled.

@Firdagniriel Yeah no. Besides being told in multiple sources that Aerith acts the way she does around Cloud because of Zack. They even fall into the church the same way. We have her denial of his death. And the fact that she keeps bringing him up to Cloud in a not so subtle way.
Fact is at best Aerith realized shortly before her death that she was chasing Zack's shadow and came to her senses that Cloud was messed up in the head. It only took a few weeks but there ya go.

The only work he's written for SE that's ever been questioned (that I know of) has been Maiden Who Travels the Planet) And it IS canon because SE themselves have not stated otherwise AND it has been published in official works. @IamVendel Cloud never knew of Aerith, play FF7 and you will find out. They meet there for the first time. And I think it's great Zack and Aerith find eachother again after their deaths. Love both Zack and Cloud.. :)

LOL... I agree on some parts, but when Zack said "If you see Aerith, say Hi for me" most probably meant "if you see her, treat her well" or something along that lines. Cloud hasn't even met Aerith at that point. But yeah, Cloud technically 'stole' his best friend's girlfriend by accident lol.

SE has confirmed that Cloud and Tifa reveal their mutual romantic feelings for each other under the Highwind 'without words'.

@IamVendel No, they confirmed that in an OPTIONAL scene they "reveal their mutual feelings" and we don't even know what those mutual feelings are, but you wanna know something else? Aerith is your default date. It's MUCH harder to get Cloud to date Tifa. This means you have to work HARDER to get any sort of affection between the two of them to show.

@TheAshleyAlive C/T reveal their mutual feelings in the story. SE tells us this flat out. They do no matter what. They tell us this multiple times. They further go on to elaborate these feelings are (As if they really needed to). That of desire and wanting. And yes they even state romantic love.
And no it is not hard AT ALL to get the Tifa date. In fact that only thing you have to do to ensure you get the Tifa date is not take Aerith with you to see Dyne. HELLO ARBITRARY GAME MECHANICS.

@IamVendel Yup, and SE has constantly stated that Cloud has undying feelings for Aerith as well.
And it still doesn't beat that Aerith is the default date. She starts out with the highest affinity levels from the get go. Aerith begins with 50 whereas Tifa only has 30. The LTD isn't about who loves Cloud, as it is stated several times that both Aerith and Tifa like Cloud, but it's a fight over who Cloud loves.

And f-ing game mechanics again. Listen. Aerith starts off higher because you can get Tifa to 51 before you even have Aerith join your party. So Aerith gets the boost to be on equal footing with Tifa. And SE has named NO DATE official.
It's not a fight. Aerith was never in the running. It was always Tifa. Cloud chose her. SE tells us Cloud chose her. It's that simple.

Since the song is relatively slow at the beginning, try to use fades instead of abrupt black scenes. It'll give it a better flow. Just some advice :D Great vid!
