to say romantsch should be the only swiss language shows your lack of knowledge about switzerland's pluriculturality, why should one cultural group be forced to adopt the language of another? For you to say this is outrageous. The traditional language of the western swiss people is french. the swiss people are doing just fine communicating mainly in german french and english. Do you also think Flemish or French only should be imposed on the Belgian people?

Romansch standard should be the main and supreme swiss national language. It is the only proper language of Switzerland. For Switzerland it desirable that all swiss speak their only own language, as a common language to communicate with each other among them, so it can differentiate itself finally and definitively of France, Germany (which includes Austria) and Italy, establishing its distinct identity.

@Demoesceptico Also should not mean that they stop knowing French, German, Italian and even English which is the current lingua franca. The Swiss Language, or romansch standard, would be the ultimate, metapolitical and eternal national unification tool, and final shaping of identity, of Switzerland.

@Demoesceptico There are several "proper swiss languages", patois, ticines', schwyzertüütsch and rumantsch. Three are latin dialects and one is a germanic dialect. The "proper swiss languages" are long dead. The day indoeuropeans set the foot on those lands... ;) So calling a latin dialect as a "proper swiss language" is kind of, well, weird!

@Demoesceptico this is outrageous. Who are you to tell us Swiss what the "original" language of Switzerland is?? We have been independent from the countries surrounding us for centuries. French, Swiss-German, Italian and Rumantsch and ALL our different dialects in our different languages, that's our languages which we speak and love. THEY ARE OUR IDENTITY.
