I only wish I took more photos that I shared with Jaws. I used a 35MM Camera as there were no digitals back then in the early 80's. I'm happy I shared just a few with Jaws as he did a great job. As a grad from Ne-Ca-Hi in 1962 it almost hurts to see the town I loved disappear as it has. None the less, it is still my hometown but my childhood days on Arlington seem so long ago...

the best part of NC is having memories of it...this place is str8 garbage. when i have returned, once to live for a year as to help aging relatives, and frequent visits it seems people are like almost stuck up about being from there, as if anyone outside of the immediate area knows that it exists...Leif Painter and the Cane Lady are great, but this place is so depressing and trashy...funny thing though, thos song was popular when I left NC as a kid-early 80's, this is a little nostalgic, good 1!

I happen to love New Castle. I was born and raised there. I got married and moved to Boardman, OH back in 1984, but New Castle will always be "home" to me. It is really sad to see so many bad comments about New Castle. Sure, it is different now than it used to be years ago, but that can be said about ANY PLACE. I was born and raised in NC. Born on the south side. Lived mostly on North Hill. Moved away in 1999. Have a farm in West Middlesex. NC was great however, during the 90's, it started going downhill. No jobs, too many "paisons" in county and school board. Too much old money still there. Very sad. Regardless of who or what is to blame for this once great city's decline it is a shame to see this. Springsteen may have written this song about a town in Jersey, but I always thought it described New Castle perfectly. We lived on the North Hill and I graduated from Ne-Ca-Hi in 1981 (my class doesn't even bother with reunions). My whole family had no choice but to leave as the place got worse and worse. New Castle has some nice looking homes (northside) but if you check the prices of those nice homes they are way underpriced. Reason, because its a shit hole town. I lived in a rural area most of my life and plan on finding my own spread out in the country. NC sucks now! It was nice in the 80's but now is a complete crap hole. My still lives there and all i see when i go visit her are prostitues and drug addicts! New Castle sucks big time! I would never raise a kind in that city, hell your probably better off living in Youngstown now a days.

It's really funny you mention the homes blowing up. (My parents live near there.) I lived my whole live in New Castle and now live in Occupied Palestine. I have to agree with Hunkola. New Castle is the Best Place to live. Period.

Yes! I am, I went to college in 68 and married my childhood sweetheart in 69. We lived in Chicago that time an witness all the changes. You did a good job with your video, it was moving. I guess I got a bit carried away in my comments. Sometimes it's so hard looking back, knowing what migth have been.
