I actually just now noticed it for the first time too after having months of this video- that you did set yourself on fire. How do you put it out if you do catch? I still think it's pretty good, very professional even if you had to dance on 4 planks of wood- it just means you can do poi anywhere. You're my inspiration so don't give up!

what happened on my leg is actually a "transfer" so the fabric didn't catch but the white gas that was on the fabric transferred the flame over to my clothing, albeit briefly. transfers you can often (usually) get out by quickly shaking that part of the body. smothering is always a good option too. i also have an extensive fire safety document available for free on the temple of poi (dot com) web site which you can download for free. it talks about fire safety. :)

funny, i look back at this video which is from 18 months ago and think the performance sucks -- i was on 4 pieces of plywood on the beach rather than a big stage so i was cramped. i almost lost my poi -- this was part of a 20 minute show and we did a lot of tool changes in the show. and i set myself on fire. and my timing was way off. and... and... and.. LOL! i think the clip with the flow lights from 10.3.08 is so much more representative of my style, but sadly, you can barely see the poi.

wowowow! you are such a fluid dancer! seriously, most people just look choppy and like they're trying too hard to nail the moves. you just kind of let go and flow with it. your dancing was seriously mesmerizing. i especially liked the trick that was sort of like a windmill except one wrist was at your waist, in front and the other was behind your head. do you have a name for it? i gotta watch this vid again.

Such unique style, Your definietly taking the art closer to dance then many. I also completely adore how you move so well to the rythm of the music.

The only little thing I would have to criticise is that you could use a few more variations of some moves, but it's no big gripe since the rythmic changes makes up for most of it.

its funny to me, i lost my grip at the opening of the set and then caught on fire which i felt really impacted my flow significantly during the piece. I much prefer the december set. also, this not the music i was performing to which i feel also impacts the overall presentation. it's not my best set ever, and it isn't bad. thanks for the feedback beautiful! :)
