this only works if you have an old computer and an old tv. newer tvs and computers will have hdmi not s-video. If you have newer both its easy, and if you have older versions of each its easy, but what if you have a new computer and an old tv?
Wow, that's an ancient TV you have there. Looks like an old projection tv with the huge fresnel lens inside it. Anyway, the newer TVs actually do NOT have S-video hookups. S-video is now outdated. But, if your TV has no S-video input, any VCR or DVD player will have it. Just hook your laptop/pc to your VCR or DVD player, which are already hooked to your TV anyway. This is the simplest hookup possible. The only thing you need is the s-video to s-video cable.
I did this with an RBG PC input cable, it worked great untill now, I can't see it on my TV anymore.. I've looked on every single channel on my TV, what do I do?? please help!
PLEASE REPLY!!! my VGA cably wont work, ive done this before but it just wont work. my laptop is about 3 or 4 years old, and it doesnt have an HMDI slot. help?
one questiion how do i get my screen resolution to where i can play games in full screen on my tv bc when i try it sais an error has occured in the direct 3d my computer is top line and my tv is top line
Question. I bought a serial to RCA because I don't have svideo on my tv. I hooked the serial end to my computer, the rca to the tv and nothing happened. I went top add projector (WIN 7) but it says projector can not be found. Please advise.
hey yah uh i dont haz dat jack or somtin but i asked my dad and he said the blue thing with 2 holes on each side and i only haz dat jack and meh tv does to so how do i hook dem up
Well, I just tried it, but for some reason, I can't get my TV to switch channels. I push channel up or down, and all it says is "Video". I even tried turning off the cable box....(that technique works on the set up in the living room) So, I'm kind of at a loss. I've been farting around w/ this for the past hour and a half, with no success. phththth. Oh well, I tried.
OMG...and all this time, I thought it would be complicated and expensive!! Damnnn....it don't get easier than this!!! Thanks so much for showing this!
i Have old tv and it has s-video and i hook up to the tv and the other cable the white yellow and red but i don't know how to hook it up and i have a labtop of windows visa
you can go to a nerd store aka bestbuy hh greg radio shack and buy a converter box where u can have audio video all u need is a coaxe cabel for this to work 1 from you tv-internet supplier and the other to connect to your tv and the bos also on this box u can hook up you laptop and pc

you may just need to go on ebay for cheap but long mail wait or radio shack and spend more. get a cord that has a headphone jack on one end and the red and white on the other. then sound is good. if you have an svideo card or watch more of my videos youll see what you need for more stuff.
the nice thing about the modem on shelf you got is these 1s you can run 2 computers off it. 1 on usb and 1 on ethernet cable to same net connection. most these newer1s make you have to get a router. ghetto money rip off they do with that.
so basically are u sayin that i can just hook it up and put the tv on the right channel and itll work right away? or am i gunna need some kind of driver or special software?
go to the control panel. some computers wont add the tv until you say so. it also lets you extend the monitor, clone it, or make another screen with its own size and color and all you set. But yes, just connect it if your tv has the connection. its like a monitor. with so many using flat screens it was a matter of time before they made a monitor and call it a tv. its been around. some just need a big monitor with a tv name.
from the looks of it u are using a special program with a special connector. well ive notices that some tvs in walmart have pc connections or in other words vga ports, would i need any speacial programs to hook up my pc to thos kind of tvs or does it work like a plug and play monitor?
I have a quick question: Im trying to hook up my desk top pc to my tv and am unsure if it has an S-video. What i did though is buy a cord that on 1 end is VGA (like a monitor) and on other end it goes into 3 prong (green, blue and red(no red and white, but thats sound)).
Here is my problem - i cant get video
Is there a program i have to turn on or something??
just cause you have the card doesnt mean the computer is powerfule enough. 1st update drivers on nvidia site and then try that. but also try connecting it to other devices and the tv itself to a dvd or something. then make sure the svideo is good on it. and also make sure the tv is on the input or game channel on it. most its the input on the remote button.
bro i have svga and a seprate cord for audio which have two little plugins for like the headphones or whatever and i plugged it into the headphones part on my laptop and on the back of my flatscreen tv is also a audio plugin i plugged it in and it wont work did i get the wrong audio jack or what
I would say try the cord on other stuff but I think you need a new cord. its just speaker wire if you break it down. go to ebay amazon or radio shack if your in a hurry and want to pay more. they all have what you need.
some tvs come with them to be honest, but u get a cheap one at your local store, such as Radioshack, Circuit City ( iwouldnt recommend this because they really rip you off), wal-mart, best buy, etc.
you will either ned an S video cord or just a regular audio cord. Which allows you to hear the sound through your tv speakers instead of your computer speakers.
you need to be able too hook up audio. without the proper adapter to the pc to t the audio wont work. only ideo. you need the earjack looking piece for the pc and then it turns into the rca sound for tv.
hay guys can some 1 plz help me. i used a vga cable and the picture shows up on my tv but my ? is how do i get the sound to come out of my tv instead of just my laptop. thanks
watch my video on how to custom make surround sound. it also shows you that you can get an audio cable for the computer to tv for sound. sound does not work in an svideo unless you have a special computer.
Hey I saw you have a Pc Modem Like I have. I have a question. Does your modem like stop working alot? Mine does and I have no idea why. Like what I mean is will your internet stop working cause the modem stop working?
hey, so if i have a laptop with s-video and a tv (its an HDTV Toshiba) which also has a S-video, it will work right? Will the s-video cable also play the audio through the tv? If i have a 720p or 1080p movie/video, will the tv play the same quality?
The tv will play great quality and you can change the settings in display. for the audio you may need to look at my how to on custom surround sound. It will explain audio.
control panels and display. then switch the monitor size. it should reset the video and now you should see more than 1 monitor. if it doesnt work let me know
if you are connecting the correct one then it should work. the cable to cable on tv pc video card, laptop svideo and all are the same. mabye your cable is broken or the connections are bent a little. either way if it is in fact an svideo it will work, no question. just go to control panels and display after that.
dude! we got the same surround sound! ok that bein said i tried the s-video an on my hp laptop an on my pc the s-video has a peak an a regular s-video will not fit in it. Can i get some help?
1-PRODUCT NAME Audio Cable 3.5' - 1/8 M to RCA M PRODUCT CODE C216-042 CONNECTORS 1/8 inch stereo audio jack - male RCA - male CABLE Shielded stereo audio cable Length - 3.5 feet (1067 mm) QUESTION 2 NO, S-VIDEO cable only plays video. go to google to find the audio to rca. it will work great and sound best. or look at my how to video on custom surround sound.
im trying to connect a pc to my tv. i have it connected and its working fine. now i know how to hook up the sound but theres one other problem im having.
i go to play counter strike the game, open it up and my tv goes blank and displays the messgae 'mode not supported', in the same format as if my tv didnt have a signal. its strange because my ps3, dvd player etc works with my tv, its a samsung 26" lcd about 10 month old.
your video card or the game cant handle running it all. Not all video cards run games on tv as well unless you spend a bit more. older games yes but newer on older systems tend to not work well.
sound comes out. watch the end of the video. i tell you youll need a cable from radio shack or cheaper on amazon. one end is going in the headphones and the other is red and white audio jacks.
Um, I have a not new computer I'd say we've had it a good 6-8 years. Just a small Sharp T.V and all it has is the video and audio jack, no S-Video I was just wondering if anyone knows of a convertor or something like that so I can avoid being stuck due to the fact its not an Hd tv nor can I use VGA cables. So... If anyone knows of something like this hit me up.
question, what kind of computer monitor that has that inputs where u plug in the tv. also how u record the video image on the tv that is getting the image from the computer?
If they make monitors that hook to the tv then its new to me and if its new it cost too much. to record the video image you put from computer to tv just use a vcr or any other way you used to record tv. It will work the same. Now to record video like putting cable on your computer you need a cable card or laptop card for that.
wow, thanks for adding this. I would, however, like to know if you know if the rca cable(the one for sound) has to be hooked up through the microphone? I know they sell one that hooks into a usb port. Can that one do the same thing?
The rca (sound) goes in the headphone not microphone on your laptop or pc. I went on ebay or amazon to get a cheap one. stores sell them too high in most. You can get the usb one and just return it if it does not work. I never used one so dont know. I also did a how to on using old speakers for computers to wire surround sound.
thats why i make videos for us all. in my life if it broke I learned how to fix it. now years later i have a lot of learning under my belt from cars to computers. So why keep it to myself? I save you all time and money learning from my breaks and mistakes.
i looked online for the s video cable but i said not sold in stores for walmart and radioshack i havnt check the stores yet but plz just let me know thx
svideo is everywhere. its as common as cable wire. wal mart has it but amazon is the cheapest for 50 foot cords and such. The cables are all over the place. just dont pay a fortune.
smone please tell me how to do this another way cuz my labtop dosnt have an s video port..iam oretty sure there has to be another way so someone please help
hello I have a laptop that i want to hook up to my new hd tv..... But when i hook my laptop and tv up with the s-video cable the resoltion on my tv sucks ass i try to change it in my ati driver but it wont let me go any higher...Any ideas??? thanks
you may be unable to. most laptops dont always have svideo. but if you have the blue aux for a monitor like a pc you can go to ebay or radio shack and get a vga to svideo cable. it just goes on the blue end and makes an svideo on the other.
you can get a vga to svideo. it goes on the vga part (the blue plug in for monitor) and the other end is an s-video input. look on ebay 1st there cheap there. or around 30 at bestbuy
is look so easy for you..but is seem not for me...........i got a s-video and a hdmi cable..is got connect on a tv and pc..but is pop out a movie at all when i try to video on pc to tv.......can you tell me how
what is the problem your having? go into detail or email me. I can say try going to control panels and setting the video to tv,extended desktop,or more. without more information I cant help with your specific problem. if you have issues try switching to a bigger screen size then back, some computers need to be changed for some reason so you can have the added options.
Yes there is a simple way just by ordering a VGA to Svideo cable on ebay or amazon for cheap. They use the blue connection most all have for hooking a monitor up to it like a pc. So the connection makes it possible to turn the vga into an svideo connection. A converter is a waste of money if you get a box one. Plus, i think there awful. the simple solution is to use the vga to svideo adapter. any other questions ask away. Ill have some more video of this in a week or 2.
you need to be careful since hdmi is better quality but has issues. sometimes it just doesnt work. your tv has to have the input as well as your laptop or pc. Try connecting in stages one at a time. or hook it all up the reboot then try to switch the settings to your tv and laptop.
HDMI is an uncompressed, all-digital signal, while the aforementioned interfaces are all analog. With an analog interface, a clean digital source is translated into less precise analog
Go to the video settings. in control panels or the little tab on the bottom right corner of the desktop. change the video size to smaller. Then you should see the setting for the tv. then change it back to normal size example- change to 800 x 600 then back to 1024 x 768. sometomes the video just needs to be changed to activate it. if that does not work go to the website if its a video card to update. if it came with the computer go top the makers site and update to the current driver or software
hey...i hooked my pc to a 40" hdtv but the pic i get on the pc is really blurry and the pictures are small...i tried changing the resolution but it doesnt get higher than
if the picture is small dont go up go down. To make the pictures bigger just make the screen 800x600 and see if the text and icons look better. If you play a movie the full screen mode makes the screen fill with the movie not a smaller size. So if your attempting to read the text on a 40 inch make the screen resolution a smaller size or increse the font size and icon size. I hope that helps.
ok, cool video, it makes sense and looks easy, but i thought it was funny, i was looking to figure out how to do that, and came here and found out that the same kind of laptop on this video is the exact same kind of laptop i have!!! thats kinda weird too!

But yes, just connect it if your tv has the connection. its like a monitor. with so many using flat screens it was a matter of time before they made a monitor and call it a tv. its been around. some just need a big monitor with a tv name.

from the looks of it u are using a special program with a special connector. well ive notices that some tvs in walmart have pc connections or in other words vga ports, would i need any speacial programs to hook up my pc to thos kind of tvs or does it work like a plug and play monitor?
raventhor0 2 years ago
great question. as long as it has a vga port it can be used. I have a projector from chinavision that has that and a usb. now i have 150 inch screen.

Is there a program download?
Any help would be great :)

lol, i have that same router, its a lot more reliable than the lynksis i had previously.

just cause you have the card doesnt mean the computer is powerfule enough. 1st update drivers on nvidia site and then try that. but also try connecting it to other devices and the tv itself to a dvd or something. then make sure the svideo is good on it. and also make sure the tv is on the input or game channel on it. most its the input on the remote button.

bro i have svga and a seprate cord for audio which have two little plugins for like the headphones or whatever and i plugged it into the headphones part on my laptop and on the back of my flatscreen tv is also a audio plugin i plugged it in and it wont work did i get the wrong audio jack or what
itzbl3ss3d 2 years ago
I would say try the cord on other stuff but I think you need a new cord. its just speaker wire if you break it down. go to ebay amazon or radio shack if your in a hurry and want to pay more. they all have what you need.
battleaxe68 2 years ago
is the quality as good on the tv as the laptop? and how much do those cables cost
speaker3600 2 years ago
some tvs come with them to be honest, but u get a cheap one at your local store, such as Radioshack, Circuit City ( iwouldnt recommend this because they really rip you off), wal-mart, best buy, etc.
Tezarious 2 years ago
what channel did u use
i tried this but it didnt work
jhooty14 2 years ago
you will either ned an S video cord or just a regular audio cord. Which allows you to hear the sound through your tv speakers instead of your computer speakers.
ginaoh207 2 years ago
you need to be able too hook up audio. without the proper adapter to the pc to t the audio wont work. only ideo. you need the earjack looking piece for the pc and then it turns into the rca sound for tv.

hay guys can some 1 plz help me. i used a vga cable and the picture shows up on my tv but my ? is how do i get the sound to come out of my tv instead of just my laptop. thanks
ghostly5454 2 years ago
watch my video on how to custom make surround sound. it also shows you that you can get an audio cable for the computer to tv for sound. sound does not work in an svideo unless you have a special computer.

hey, so if i have a laptop with s-video and a tv (its an HDTV Toshiba) which also has a S-video, it will work right? Will the s-video cable also play the audio through the tv? If i have a 720p or 1080p movie/video, will the tv play the same quality?
ahhh1 2 years ago
The tv will play great quality and you can change the settings in display. for the audio you may need to look at my how to on custom surround sound. It will explain audio.

i got the s.video connected to the laptop - tv nothing is happening do i need to do settings on the laptop.
RedBull2086 3 years ago
control panels and display. then switch the monitor size. it should reset the video and now you should see more than 1 monitor. if it doesnt work let me know
battleaxe68 3 years ago
if you are connecting the correct one then it should work. the cable to cable on tv pc video card, laptop svideo and all are the same. mabye your cable is broken or the connections are bent a little. either way if it is in fact an svideo it will work, no question. just go to control panels and display after that.
battleaxe68 3 years ago
dude! we got the same surround sound! ok that bein said i tried the s-video an on my hp laptop an on my pc the s-video has a peak an a regular s-video will not fit in it. Can i get some help?

im trying to connect a pc to my tv. i have it connected and its working fine. now i know how to hook up the sound but theres one other problem im having.
i go to play counter strike the game, open it up and my tv goes blank and displays the messgae 'mode not supported', in the same format as if my tv didnt have a signal. its strange because my ps3, dvd player etc works with my tv, its a samsung 26" lcd about 10 month old.
can anyone help?
RamichCandidate 3 years ago
your video card or the game cant handle running it all. Not all video cards run games on tv as well unless you spend a bit more. older games yes but newer on older systems tend to not work well.

dose no sound come out of the tv?
Nochocheese125 3 years ago
sound comes out. watch the end of the video. i tell you youll need a cable from radio shack or cheaper on amazon. one end is going in the headphones and the other is red and white audio jacks.
battleaxe68 3 years ago
Um, I have a not new computer I'd say we've had it a good 6-8 years. Just a small Sharp T.V and all it has is the video and audio jack, no S-Video I was just wondering if anyone knows of a convertor or something like that so I can avoid being stuck due to the fact its not an Hd tv nor can I use VGA cables. So... If anyone knows of something like this hit me up.

question, what kind of computer monitor that has that inputs where u plug in the tv. also how u record the video image on the tv that is getting the image from the computer?
rogelioVela1985 3 years ago
If they make monitors that hook to the tv then its new to me and if its new it cost too much. to record the video image you put from computer to tv just use a vcr or any other way you used to record tv. It will work the same. Now to record video like putting cable on your computer you need a cable card or laptop card for that.

wow, thanks for adding this. I would, however, like to know if you know if the rca cable(the one for sound) has to be hooked up through the microphone? I know they sell one that hooks into a usb port. Can that one do the same thing?
jovonpatterson 3 years ago
The rca (sound) goes in the headphone not microphone on your laptop or pc. I went on ebay or amazon to get a cheap one. stores sell them too high in most. You can get the usb one and just return it if it does not work. I never used one so dont know. I also did a how to on using old speakers for computers to wire surround sound.

how will i be able to hook up my laptop to my tv. My tv doesn't have a s-Cable channel it only has AUX
moocow848 3 years ago
you may be unable to. most laptops dont always have svideo. but if you have the blue aux for a monitor like a pc you can go to ebay or radio shack and get a vga to svideo cable. it just goes on the blue end and makes an svideo on the other.
battleaxe68 3 years ago
ok this may sound dumb but on mine i have a yellow plug in on mine does that do the same thing?

waikei123 3 years ago
what is the problem your having? go into detail or email me. I can say try going to control panels and setting the video to tv,extended desktop,or more. without more information I cant help with your specific problem. if you have issues try switching to a bigger screen size then back, some computers need to be changed for some reason so you can have the added options.

is there a converter if i don't have the video out on the back of my labtop?
hallnoats4ever 3 years ago
Yes there is a simple way just by ordering a VGA to Svideo cable on ebay or amazon for cheap. They use the blue connection most all have for hooking a monitor up to it like a pc. So the connection makes it possible to turn the vga into an svideo connection. A converter is a waste of money if you get a box one. Plus, i think there awful. the simple solution is to use the vga to svideo adapter. any other questions ask away. Ill have some more video of this in a week or 2.

that is coool i have a HDMI cable and i have a HP laptop my dad tried but it did not work plz help me e mail me on the youtube thank
SQUIRRELSETH1 3 years ago
you need to be careful since hdmi is better quality but has issues. sometimes it just doesnt work. your tv has to have the input as well as your laptop or pc. Try connecting in stages one at a time. or hook it all up the reboot then try to switch the settings to your tv and laptop.
HDMI is an uncompressed, all-digital signal, while the aforementioned interfaces are all analog. With an analog interface, a clean digital source is translated into less precise analog

my tv has a input for my laptop but when i put it in and it says my laptop is in the wrong format
eman430 3 years ago
Go to the video settings. in control panels or the little tab on the bottom right corner of the desktop. change the video size to smaller. Then you should see the setting for the tv. then change it back to normal size example- change to 800 x 600 then back to 1024 x 768. sometomes the video just needs to be changed to activate it. if that does not work go to the website if its a video card to update. if it came with the computer go top the makers site and update to the current driver or software
battleaxe68 3 years ago
hey...i hooked my pc to a 40" hdtv but the pic i get on the pc is really blurry and the pictures are small...i tried changing the resolution but it doesnt get higher than
1024*768....can someone pls help me??
mushfikniloy 3 years ago
if the picture is small dont go up go down. I hope that helps.
battleaxe68 3 years ago
thnx..i'll try it out
