  • I wish you would put I, II, or III movement in the title of the video. Just makes it a lot easier to find haha ~_~. Thanks for posting though.

  • VIVA LA diversity! Everybody playes it different. Every piano sounds different - and I love listening to all the different interpretations! This one is so different from F. Gulda and even though I think Gulda is THEEEE Mozart expert, I am very, very fond of this performance. Thank you for posting it!

  • Richter already had awesome props in my book, but now he is even AWESOMER now that I've heard this. I've played this movement and it's HARD/UNHUMAN to play it this beautifully. I don't know why I hadn't listened to this before.

  • Excellent

  • Thanks for everything in 2009!!!!

this is fabulous...brings me to tears.

  • what is strange is that richter here changes many times his tempo

tje beginning is much slower than the rest

  • @flo2300 It is not Richter who changes the Tempo - it is Mozart himself who was a "master" in "tempo-inconsistancy" ;o)

  • Andante joué d'une manière superbe!

    Remerciements pour la vidéo.

  • Many thanks.

  • I'm big fan of Lipatti, but I think Richter does this mov better, Lipatti kinda went overboard with his romantic intrepretation this time.

As always with Mozart, such beautiful 2nd movement.

  • Dumbass.

  • This is a good piece, Nice drills.. :D

  • I enjoy Sonata 11 so much more in this minor key....very interesting to hear it this way.

  • effortless, light and free of affectation.. maybe this sonata should sound like this.. i'll try to follow Richter on this sonata.. sounds more interesting then most.

  • Richter played the way he was, without any crap.. Truely a great pianist and human being.

  • @kempff95 hehe you for real? lol

  • @quinto34

    This is real ,man.....

  • @kempff95 Well I dont care if he was homosexual, so what..

    who cares besides you anyway..

  • @quinto34 :-)) apparently, there was something exciting about his personality that caused so many rumours :-))). A memorable quote concerning S.T. Richter: "even if he would ONLY hit nails (with a hammer), people would gather to see what it is LIKE, "Richter hiting nails..." )))

  • @kempff95

Then why didn't your friend's grandfather report it?

The official stance of "The Party" in the USSR was against homosexuality.

Sviatoslav Richter would have received some sort of punishment, despite his position, at least for his actions, if not for openly expressing his sexuality like that.

  • @quinto34

Yes, Richter was homosexual. But that's not a bad thing, homosexuality doesn't make someone a 'horrible human being'.

  • @kempff95

Of course Richter was gay. This is common knowledge. But there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, and Richter was a great human being.

  • May be you could substantiate your comment?

Just "throwing" an opinion doesn't bring much to the discussion...

  • You arguments are not persuasive but as an individual opinion you are entitled to it.

Bluntly saying "Lipatti is the best!" simply doesn't make much sense.

  • amazing performance.

  • I love Richter's rendition of this piece very very much: effortless, light and free of affectation.

  • this is amazing, seeing Mozart's real pic. This is not so much seen.

    Manav

  • dude... this is just his portrait.. u just type "mozart" in google, search for pictures and it will show u x number of his portraits ... not too hard to find really
