You're right! I can tell too, the startup disk isn't defined on the one to the right, the boot loader isn't defining the drive as the startup disk. I can see that rig from a mile away.
This seems about right. I'm on a Windows machine myself (Win 7 Professional, 64-Bit), & my total boot to use time is 30 seconds. Noting that Windows does boot a bit slower than OSX, everything seems fine here.
Still, to the video poster, be careful with OSX Lion. The New Egg reviews of this drive say that it has been crashing under that OS.
It would seem that this drive isn't quite compatible with every OS yet. That's why I'm holding off on Linux until the next release package from Ubuntu
Hitachi drive hasn't been marked as a startup drive. Thats why it takes so long to discover the drive to start booting. The right boot up time for the hitachi is 1m:14s - 37s = 37s
I boot my windows in under 10 sec, I have a SSD which Reads 1500mb/s and Write1300mb/s, its just 240Gb, but just run some games and application and you are set for a fast, secure future (=
wow, thanks for this video. I have the same hhd and computer as you, and i was looking into getting something to make my computer faster, looks like this is the answer
Just tried this on my slightly older machine (2.16GHz C2D processor, 3Gig RAM) with an upgraded WD Black 320GB 7200rpm HD. Came in at a very lazy 62.5 seconds, so some 14 seconds quicker than a newer machine with a 5400rpm drive, but still! Very tempted on one of these Momentus XT HD's...
@DrMacBookPro - Yes everyone thats has a factory mac knows that "5400RPM HDD's are still pretty standard" and the sad part is your paying a premium price for "prehistoric" technology even in 2011...
this test is rigged i have not seen a mac load thst slow ever

Im thinking about this drive for my Macbook pro 2.4ghz. Did you had any problem with compatibility or is the same process for osx installation?

5400rpm vs 7200rpm
SATA-150 vs SATAII
8MB Cache vs 32MB Cache
Well, I don't really think that this can prove that Hybrid SSD/HDD is faster than a traditional HDD.
(Sorry for my poor English;P)

nice that they made a hybrid hdd like this, becouse ssd is too expensive though..
