I was brought up in Portrush. I have in my lifetime visited Derry twice which I believe is the town the songs about and both times could not wait to leave it. The sadness in this song says it all, I think. I left Ulster never to return, I could never understand what people found to fight about in such a desolate country.

This is Phil Coulter's song, not Luke's, despite many believing otherwise. I would humbly suggest changing the details to reflect such. But this has added a tone to this song that is hard to match. Excellent addition to Youtube! Many thanks!

Well, I went to Ireland in 1982 and spent two nights in Belfast and then headed south to Dublin, Galway/Indróbhan and Cork. I Dublin I went to a concert with a local folk band in Taylor's Guild Hall - a true Hallelujah moment!!!
