she still sings like a bird, she hasn't lost a thing what a superstar, the best, Remember one thing all these stars are a star in their own way, no one is better, just different.
I Never knew about reba till i heard this song, i was looking for stuff with gwyneth paltrow and i was watching the cma's and i almost skipped passed this because i wasn't too fond of the song, but im glad i didnt, because i love this and now reba is my favourite singer! i love her!
I happen to like both Reba and Beyonce but there is absolutely no way in hell anyone can say Beyonce out sung Reba on this song. Reba can sing ANYTHING and I think she gave this song something Beyonce didn't. I'm not saying Beyonce's version wasn't good because it was amazing and showed Beyonce's talents, but Reba's version was better and always will be. Period.
She was given a challenge to sing something she has never done before, so they decided on this song, and Beyoncé stole the song from upcoming singer BC Jean. BC Jean took her Myspace account to express her frustration:
"I have been reading some of these comments and to set the record straight from the horse’s mouth – IF I WERE A BOY is my song; YES, I wrote this song; It is my story; a painful one, and the song is very dear to me. You can hear the original version on my myspace site.
I don't think there is a reason to hate on Reba or Beyonce, they both sang the hell out of this song, and I know Beyonce is not complaining she made money off it too.
we know reba is a better singer who was number 1 hits when beyonce was shiting in her diapers. now lets talk looks and google beyonce with out make up and talk about substance. one ugly black girl. reba = real red hair not relaxed nappy headed hair. she coulf be opras child
this is a poor attempt at tryna stay relevant serisouly Beyonce did it great the first time and she killed it im sorry Reba doesn't the voice for this song!!!(stay in your lane)

@bRDwyAnnIe IM with you on this one!!!!! People forget that Reba had to ASK to cover the song. OBVIOUSLY Beyonce said yes!!!!! I actually like Reba's version of this song BETTER!!!! So i agree with you! Reba has been around for a while. Its just like if i liked a Kelly Clarkson song and i covered it on American Idol ya know? People need to grow up. BUT I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!
@kazemon250 It wasn't Beyonce that Reba had to ask. It was the songwriters BC Jean and Toby Gad. Beyonce just sang "If I Were A Boy"..........like Reba did.
@bRDwyAnnIe I agree!! I'm a HUGE Beyonce fan, and I do prefer Beyonce's version, it just has a different energy, but props to Reba, a)this is a hard song to pull off, and b)it's hard to make someone else's song hugely popular (as Beyonce did with this song once already). Props to both of them for their very different interpretations of the song.
i'm a fan of neither women, but what the hell. this song is something you just don't touch. how can this be better than beyonce's knockout grammy performance? come on!
I was lucky enough to be there for this... Reba was stunning and just her alone on stage was amazing! Chill bumps. and I loved the lyrics before.. but i love Reba's version more. :)
I like Beyonce but I have loved Reba since I was a kid. I grew up on her so I cant help but like her. She can make any song sound good, even if it were "twinkle twinkle little star." Legends like Reba never die, she is a queen and a goddess.
Reba's version is a nice country version of this song but Beyonce's version is stronger, more passionate and more vocally on point than Reba. I like it because Reba sings it differently but she is not on Beyonce's level at all.
Reba sings this with so much more feeling then Beyonce and it is so clean and beautiful with Reba! I didn't like this song at all before, with Beyonce..
This was the best of all.Reba has been the Queen of country for 35 years! Bought to be 36. She puts alot of thought into her songs and they come from the heart she is a very Beautiful red headed women so remember one thing Reba McEntire Rock
@banana837 Basically it's saying if she's was in the guy she would understand what guys go through and too that her herself being a girl would be able to love a girl if she was the guy better because she knows what girls want!
@banana837 its about a girl saying if she were a boy, she knows she would the girlfriend right bc she knows the pain women have to go through in an unhealthy relationship. the song is saying how most men will never understand what they do to us and how they hurt us (not all men, clarifying that)
you know what reba sounds like ass here. but dont get me wrong love the woman. she is fantastic still love it but thats because i love reba. she sounds great most of the time but you always have off days. sadly this was one for reba. :'(
@davecook08 I heard Reba saying earlier that day, that she had a cold. I agree I can tell where she is gasping for air but I think she did fantastic to get through as great as she did while not feeling top notch. I know I couldnt lol. AND still get a S.O.
Honestly, the way I see it is that Reba singing this song gives a huge compliment to Beyonce. Reba has been in the business for a very long time and the fact that she wanted to sing this song shows that she likes it and has the utmost respect for Beyonce. Why bother comparing them? Just enjoy both versions. If you don't like one, listen to the one you do.
Some of these comments sounded like they were posted by Kanye West. lol Reba did amazing!!! Beyonce is good, but wouldn't be as far as she is now without the start in Destiny's Child. Sorry Beyonce fans. Good job Reba.
Just think of all those country songs that have been covered by pop singers! Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" was originally a Dolly Parton song, so was "Jolene" which the White Stripes covered. Joss Stone sang "Son of A Preacher Man", Feist covered "Inside and Out" (Bee Gees, not really country, but you get the picture!). Those are just a few! That's what's I love bout music, is the ability of an artist to interpret a song however he/she feels moved to do so.
sounds weird hearing this song sung with a voice that clearly belongs to someone old. I think it is more suited to a younger woman's voice. Nice cover of the original though, despite Reba not being able to always hit the highest notes.
Seriously, country singers need to stop tryin to do covers of pop and rock artists. The songs come off as unnatural, and not very country. Reba is a great singer, but I dont think she should have sang that song...Frankly country music is going down hill..to many "wanna be" country singers are comin into the genre and are destroying whats left of country music. And why the heck is Gwyneth Paltrow all of a sudden a country music singer? strait out of Hollywood. Its crap! Country music, COME BACK!
@dakine132516 I agree with you that there are "some" artists today who aren't country trying to be. However, Reba has always pushed the envelope with everything she has done. And if ANYONE in country should have covered this song, it definitely should have been REBA! Carrie, Miranda, and definitely NOT Taylor could have done justice.....just look at their performances at this award show. There is only 1 Reba...........and there only will be!
@dakine132516 Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" was a country song! She changed it up to suit her voice with a R&B feel. Music can be interpretated in different ways. Just enjoy it! Ha.
This is a awesome cover of this song I been listing to Reba's music for years she is one of my favorite singers, and after hearing Reba singing this song, now it is one of my favorite songs, that great I had to buy Reba's new CD. One of the few singers that can give me goosebumps. Great song from a great icon.
She did a great job at performing this song! She definitely deserved to win the Female Vocalist of The Year award...especially after how long it's been.
Only Reba could turn a great song into an amazing song! This may have been done by Beyonce first, but Reba's is the better version, no doubt. Beyonce may be a "legend" in the R&B/Pop world, but Reba has been a legend/icon in music for a few decades now. Both versions are great.....it would be awesome if they performed this live together!
Great performance. I preferred the arrangement they used on Unplugged but this was good too, a bit busier vocally than the first version she did. There is no comparison between the Reba and Beyonce version, one is pop and the other country and both were superb. I prefer Rebas version because I love her voice and singing style.
I loved Reba’s version. She has mentioned how she really admires Beyonce. The song does work really well as a country song. Both versions are excellent…can’t compare the two. Just love both of them for what they are. A good song is a good song if sung well and both versions are sung perfectly.
I think you all are wrong. Reba McEntire can sing whatever she wants and she puts her own Reba style to it. She is a great singer and this is a great song!!! None of Taylor Swift or Miranda Lambert or Carrie Underwood are even in the same league as her as Reba McEntire is considered the queen of country music as George Strait is considered the king. I have been unfortunate and haven't had a chance to see her in concert but if the opportunity ever arose. I am there
@MVorrath2 I agree with everything you said, Reba is 55 and can sing with the best of them. She is still one of the top selling female artist out there and just had her biggest hit with Consider Me Gone which went number one for four weeks, only three other women in the 6 years to do so. I never thought I would see Reba live and then last year I finally had the chance. If you ever find yourself at a Reba concert you won't be disappointed.
I love Reba- but i must confess that I think she had confused the country audience when she did this song the other night on ABC- I would think many of them have never seen the original Beyonce' video which makes the song look a whole lot easier to understand- - if ya want to know how I felt when i seen this look at Martina McBride's reaction at 3:54

very good? Yes...better than beyonce?? Not a chance in hell...this is specifically aimed at the people with the nerve to say she did better than Beyonce...its foolish...she made it her own but she cant touch Bey at all
this was an awesome cover. Both Reba and Beyonce are the best in their respective genres. It would be awesome to see the two of the them sing it together
anybody else notice that she sang the hell outta this song without backup vocals? I Dont care what people say, she sings this song better than beyonce!!
@fsbabe88 not quite on the chorus, there are backing vocals.. or can she doe harmonies all on the same time??? To me Beyonce sings it the best, but just my opinion since I am not that much into country. But I have to say this is a great version
Look at that folks, a Standing Ovation! Reba takes control and sings the fire out of this song! All of your negative comments mean nothing! WooHoo Reba! Still the queen after 35 years!
im a beyonce fan and i defintly approve i never knock anybody for doing a cover as long as they do it right reba is a legend its true but so is beyonce its just beyonce is one before she hit 30
@queenbey4eva I'm a Beyoncé fan, but do you realize that Reba is a country LEGEND covering our Beyoncé's song? And doing a great job at it. This will go down in Bey's history. Like who else can say that Reba McEntire covered their song and it's not even a country song? Bey's legacy is constantly forming and being created and molded. Don't disrespect her legacy by downing the performer. Bey is the only one breaking down these boundaries in current times like seriously.
You know what this reminds me of...In Bring It On when the Toros come out and do the EXACT same routine as the other squad, except it's less exciting...
No one has vocals like Reba! She's just Reba(:

Props to both of them for their very different interpretations of the song.

i'm a fan of neither women, but what the hell. this song is something you just don't touch. how can this be better than beyonce's knockout grammy performance? come on!

I was lucky enough to be there for this... Reba was stunning and just her alone on stage was amazing! Chill bumps. and I loved the lyrics before.. but i love Reba's version more. :)

I like Beyonce but I have loved Reba since I was a kid. I grew up on her so I cant help but like her. She can make any song sound good, even if it were "twinkle twinkle little star." Legends like Reba never die, she is a queen and a goddess.
jriley2008 1 year ago 2
Reba and Beyonce don't have a level for one another to be set on. They are different genre.
wabamlol 1 year ago
Reba's version is a nice country version of this song but Beyonce's version is stronger, more passionate and more vocally on point than Reba. I like it because Reba sings it differently but she is not on Beyonce's level at all.
royalty333 1 year ago
i love this song i think her version is better than beyonce!
Vabrat1969 1 year ago
Reba sings this with so much more feeling then Beyonce and it is so clean and beautiful with Reba! I didn't like this song at all before, with Beyonce..

This was the best of all.Reba has been the Queen of country for 35 years! Bought to be 36. She puts alot of thought into her songs and they come from the heart she is a very Beautiful red headed women so remember one thing Reba McEntire Rock

Okay, I know I sound really dumb. But I dont understand this song! Can someone please give me a quick meaning?
banana837 1 year ago
@banana837 Basically it's saying if she's was in the guy she would understand what guys go through and too that her herself being a girl would be able to love a girl if she was the guy better because she knows what girls want!
BigDawg1990 1 year ago
@BigDawg1990 aww. I see! Thank you!
banana837 1 year ago
@banana837 its about a girl saying if she were a boy, she knows she would the girlfriend right bc she knows the pain women have to go through in an unhealthy relationship. the song is saying how most men will never understand what they do to us and how they hurt us (not all men, clarifying that)

Beyonce's version was good, Reba's version was great.

you know what reba sounds like ass here. but dont get me wrong love the woman. she is fantastic still love it but thats because i love reba. she sounds great most of the time but you always have off days. sadly this was one for reba. :'(
davecook08 1 year ago
@davecook08 I heard Reba saying earlier that day, that she had a cold. I agree I can tell where she is gasping for air but I think she did fantastic to get through as great as she did while not feeling top notch. I know I couldnt lol. AND still get a S.O.
tyandkim 1 year ago
Reba made the 2010 CMA worth watching just for this song. The extra 5 seconds of audience reaction make this video best on youtube.
EMERALDEMMY 1 year ago
Honestly, the way I see it is that Reba singing this song gives a huge compliment to Beyonce. Reba has been in the business for a very long time and the fact that she wanted to sing this song shows that she likes it and has the utmost respect for Beyonce. Why bother comparing them? Just enjoy both versions. If you don't like one, listen to the one you do.
kellycfan4life 1 year ago 4

That's what's I love bout music, is the ability of an artist to interpret a song however he/she feels moved to do so.
heatherbird13 1 year ago
sounds weird hearing this song sung with a voice that clearly belongs to someone old. I think it is more suited to a younger woman's voice. Nice cover of the original though, despite Reba not being able to always hit the highest notes.
bobbysuger 1 year ago
Seriously, country singers need to stop tryin to do covers of pop and rock artists. The songs come off as unnatural, and not very country. Reba is a great singer, but I dont think she should have sang that song...Frankly country music is going down hill..to many "wanna be" country singers are comin into the genre and are destroying whats left of country music. And why the heck is Gwyneth Paltrow all of a sudden a country music singer? strait out of Hollywood. Its crap! Country music, COME BACK!
dakine132516 1 year ago
@dakine132516 I agree with you that there are "some" artists today who aren't country trying to be. However, Reba has always pushed the envelope with everything she has done. And if ANYONE in country should have covered this song, it definitely should have been REBA! Carrie, Miranda, and definitely NOT Taylor could have done justice.....just look at their performances at this award show. There is only 1 Reba...........and there only will be!
bRDwyAnnIe 1 year ago 2
@dakine132516 Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" was a country song! She changed it up to suit her voice with a R&B feel. Music can be interpretated in different ways. Just enjoy it! Ha.
Jay170788 1 year ago 2
@Jay170788 Correction: "Irreplaceable" was written by Ne-Yo for Beyonce. It was covered by a country band. It was not originally a country song.
jamalc 1 year ago
@jamalc Correction: The song had initially a country twist to it, Beyoncé has stated this. Tats why she performed it with Sugarland.
Jay170788 1 year ago

Both versions are great.....it would be awesome if they performed this live together!
bRDwyAnnIe 1 year ago 3
I like how at the end, it was real quiet . Then everyone stood up and clapped!
wabamlol 1 year ago
Great performance. I preferred the arrangement they used on Unplugged but this was good too, a bit busier vocally than the first version she did. There is no comparison between the Reba and Beyonce version, one is pop and the other country and both were superb. I prefer Rebas version because I love her voice and singing style.
dugite100 1 year ago
I loved Reba’s version. She has mentioned how she really admires Beyonce. The song does work really well as a country song. Both versions are excellent…can’t compare the two. Just love both of them for what they are. A good song is a good song if sung well and both versions are sung perfectly.
leelou641 1 year ago 4
I think you all are wrong. Reba McEntire can sing whatever she wants and she puts her own Reba style to it. She is a great singer and this is a great song!!! None of Taylor Swift or Miranda Lambert or Carrie Underwood are even in the same league as her as Reba McEntire is considered the queen of country music as George Strait is considered the king. I have been unfortunate and haven't had a chance to see her in concert but if the opportunity ever arose. I am there
MVorrath2 1 year ago
@MVorrath2 I agree with everything you said, Reba is 55 and can sing with the best of them. She is still one of the top selling female artist out there and just had her biggest hit with Consider Me Gone which went number one for four weeks, only three other women in the 6 years to do so. I never thought I would see Reba live and then last year I finally had the chance. If you ever find yourself at a Reba concert you won't be disappointed.

anything Reba sings is great but i feel she confused a bunch of people by singing this.

@fsbabe88 not quite on the chorus, there are backing vocals.. or can she doe harmonies all on the same time??? To me Beyonce sings it the best, but just my opinion since I am not that much into country. But I have to say this is a great version
