  • @3kliksphilip well, im trying to make a deathrun map and i wanted to make a boulder break out of the ceiling and roll straight down a hallway, so i guess that would be scripted. I tried a trigger_push but that didnt work

  • @3kliksphilip Yes I made remade everything again, still no luck, I tried placing a trigger parent with the rock, the boulder kills me now, but it stops dead in its tracks when it collides with me. Very odd indeed :S

  • Really liked to tut! I have a trigger_multiple in place to set the boulders off and a trigger_remove at the bottom to remove them.

    I need a little help. The point of my map is to dodge to boulders. How can I make it so it resets, so the next guy who makes it to that part of the level can experience the same thing as the guy before him? Instead of the boulders just constantly going off.

  • @chaddcl0ps I don't know what you mean. Please explain how 'resetting' is different to simply spawning boulders at the top and removing them at the bottom repeatedly.

    Have any idea on how to make it so when the boulders collide with a brush, or the bottom of the cliff that leads off the map, they are removed?

    onpressed

    (name of button)

    kill

    OnDamaged

    (name of button)

    kill

    Be sure to make these outputs trigger AFTER what you want the button to do, or else it will just destroy the button.

  • So I got the rocks to fall properly but for some reason my rocks dont hurt the player and if you run into them you go through them instead of them pushing you back.

    Have you selected the block tool, then chosen 'sphere' from the drop down list at the right hand side of the screen?

  • Wait, so wouldn't this lag up the map and close the game your running on, isn't there a lifetime for the boulders? Or can it be removed when it hits somewhere that the character can go through? Like when it touches a wall and that wall collides only with the player.

  • @3kliksphilip: I'm saying like, what entity can I use to make the boulders dissapear from a map when it touches a block. It would seriously lag the map real bad. Of course I'm not going to have a player be able to see the wall. Anyways, any tutorials on custom entities?

  • @flaarisse Give them a value for health, then make a trigger_hurt block that does that amount of damage, change its flags to choose what in the level can be damaged by it. Untick 'clients' or it will kill you too

  • @flaarisse No, it won't go there automatically. That's why you place the trigger_hurt where the boulder should be destroyed. You playtest it to see where the boulders go.

  • I did this exactly to the tutorial, but i made only 1 rock spawn. But what happened: EVEN THOUGH I SET THE LOGIC_TIMER, IT SPAWNS ROCKS CONSTANTLY LIKE 9000 ROCKS! LOL!

  • @nurgle01099 You could try parenting one end of the rope to the prop_physics, but I can't guarantee it will show up. It certainly won't act as rope that will restrain an object, you'll have to use a phys_lengthconstraint entity or something similar for that. If the rope doesn't show up, download de_tergiversate from my website, it has the vmf file for the map included and will have an example rope dangling from one of the buildings.

  • @dutchkiller66 It's a generic problem, you'll need to PM me your compilelog for me to be able to help you. Be sure to delete the txt file first and then to remake it, or I will not be able to see the latest version.

  • @knockoutgmod You can either make a custom texture (With the writing on it). Alternatively, you could make each letter out of blocks. The former choice is the neatest, but is more complicated. The latter will take a bit of time, but will work if you work on it for a while. You can find prefabs in fpsbanana.

  • What you could do to make the house smash more realisticly is be making the shapes func_physbox(which you did), but then add in flags(or outputs)"on damaged break", or something like that and then cut the blocks into random shapes and make THOSE func_physbox to simulate it smashing into lots of pieces. That was a mouthful.

  • The same thing happended to your map after some time.. i downloaded your map and tryed it! and it said CYtLinkedList overflow after like 1 minute

  • Help! this works but after a few seconds it closes down counter strike and comes with an Engine Error! its says "CYtLinkedList overflow!"!! and i just maked 6 balls and they spawn between 5-7 seconds!! HELP!

  • @TrackieISC I haven't counted how many it takes. Just make sure the numbers are kept down, in one way or another.

  • Awesome tutorial and map. I downloaded the map and it works perfect until I die, at which point CSS and Hammer crash. If anyone knows a solution to this problem, I would be most grateful. Also, it might have more to do with the round ending rather than me dying, because it seems like the whole thing crashes at about the time the new round would start and keeps going for a few seconds while I was dead.

  • @MoltenMetallic It is a problem with all of these physics objects. Try making fewer of them and it might not crash. Try and pinpoint the problem... if you're interested.

  • @shaneodonovan123 In the boulder's properties there should be a HEALTH TO OVERRIDE MOTION and PHYSICS TO OVERRIDE MOTION property. Set the first to 0 and the physics one to 100000
