I've always wondered why do zerg buildings need creep to survive.. especially spine crawlers since they're perfectly fine running around, but deny them of creep when they're burrowed and they die? I wonder what's Starcraft's explanation for this.

Why does protoss have a forge 2 assimilators and only nine probes while zerg has a ton of minerals? If protoss would now play like this he(/she?) would be in bronze rank 100. ps. in zvz, you can place anevolution chamber in between te extractor and the hatch, which slows gas mining, and also, if they kill it, 6 broodlings will destroy some drones.
if you combine this with two of them, and stealing their extractors, they can mine gas unitl ages into the game, meanwhiel you can spam zerglnigs and stop them from making any decent counters, all they can building spine crawlers and lings, queens won't stop lings.
there is an even better way then building spines.. especially vs terran .. u start morphing in the hatch and when u reach a certain point in the progress bar u get 6 broodlings if u cancel it .. some ppl time that with a zergling early push and 8-10 zerglings + 6 broodlings demolish the terran

Thx a lot for showing this :). I've managed to use this with a 10 pool to great succes. Only usable vs P though. But I bring one drone over and do this behind wall off. It forces them to either attack it or die and if they attack it you can kill what is attacking it with lings. When it's done it should take care of any zealots that spawn so you can kill all the workers/buildings.
i forgot which game but pros use something like this where they build a hatchery before you can wall off and they can either cancel and put an evo or they can keep it there and make units while trying to break in at the same time
its not a bug lol btw if ur going to use it m make a evo so it dies and broods kill stuff it CAN work some times also STJuly has used it to tick ppl when they see a hatch then he puts down a baneling nest right where the hatch was and the other person has no clue its comming. other then that its useless and not a bug.

You can actually plant an evo chamber in there which is used in some valid strategies to prevent a protoss or terran from walling in and then timing your attack with the death of the evo (broodlings).

good strategy for dealing with those pesky protoss players who don't start making a single zealot or photon cannon until they have a gateway, forge, and cybernetics core all up and who refuse to fight with probes.
Theres a post on TL of a guy who uses a full blown Hatchery and Spines + roach/speedling/queen against toss that FE, He builds the hatch out of range and spreads creep then goes all in with lings/roach/queen while like 5-6 spines are burrowing. Hes high Diamond.
Then I remember watching a replay on Crotas channel where a Professional hatches in between 10 and 7 o'clock positions on metal and instantly spawns a creep tumor with a queen and pretty much all ins with spines... like 7-8.

Cannon rushing costs at least 400 to hit with 1 cannon( 1 pylon 1 defence cannon and 1 attacking cannon ) so 225 mineral spine seams quite clever cuz he realy can't do anything at that point in game and zerg will always have more minerals to pull this off plz type when you made pool far this
Someone actually did this to me in a match once, only they kept the Hatchery. It was embarrassing to say the least, but hey, I guess it had to happen once eventually. I thought because my opponent was Zerg, I was exempt from a cannon rush. I was wrong.
Each of those spines cost 225 minerals, since cancellation of the the hatchery has a 25percent penalty, the drone costs 50, and the crawler costs 100. Plus, they lose health, etc.
@InsatiableMonkey Would've cost less minerals for a Lair than it would have to keep putting down 300 mineral Hatcheries every time he made a Spine Crawler.

Still, this ultimately ends up being 175 minerals per spine crawler PLUS the drone required bringing the total cost up to 225 + lost resource mining time on the drone. For the cost, you'd get much better mileage out of 9 zerglings... and there's no way you'd have enough spare minerals early game.
Still, I'm sure somebody could come up with a neat way to use this sort of trick. ;)
C) You need 300 minerals for the hatchery, and everytime you cancel it, you lose a percentage
So by the time you get all those minerals, your opponent will surely be walled in (everyone plays Terran or Protoss nowadays) or have a few ground troops to easily kill of your drones.
If you want to do cannon rushes, play as PROTOSS. Much easier, much much much more effective, AND they can shoot air.

The issue with this: You lose significant minerals every time you cancel the hatchery. The spinecrawlers start dying because they are not on creep.

Then I remember watching a replay on Crotas channel where a Professional hatches in between 10 and 7 o'clock positions on metal and instantly spawns a creep tumor with a queen and pretty much all ins with spines... like 7-8.

Cannon rushing costs at least 400 to hit with 1 cannon( 1 pylon 1 defence cannon and 1 attacking cannon ) so 225 mineral spine seams quite clever cuz he realy can't do anything at that point in game and zerg will always have more minerals to pull this off plz type when you made pool far this

Someone actually did this to me in a match once, only they kept the Hatchery. It was embarrassing to say the least, but hey, I guess it had to happen once eventually. I thought because my opponent was Zerg, I was exempt from a cannon rush. I was wrong.

Each of those spines cost 225 minerals, since cancellation of the the hatchery has a 25percent penalty, the drone costs 50, and the crawler costs 100. Plus, they lose health, etc.

u can do that earlier in a game.. just 6pool and instead of using mins to make lings.. make drones and make them become spine crawlers

@Kox300 He's making a hatchery, canceling it for creep (this costs 100 minerals FYI), and then making a spine with the drone before the creep fades.

@Fa1nTy To be accurate, he only loses 75 minerals in the hatchery cancel. Cancelling refunds 75%.
Still, this ultimately ends up being 175 minerals per spine crawler PLUS the drone required bringing the total cost up to 225 + lost resource mining time on the drone. For the cost, you'd get much better mileage out of 9 zerglings... and there's no way you'd have enough spare minerals early game.
Still, I'm sure somebody could come up with a neat way to use this sort of trick. ;)

The problems with this are:
A) You need 50 minerals PER drone
B) You need 150 minerals PER spine
C) You need 300 minerals for the hatchery, and everytime you cancel it, you lose a percentage
So by the time you get all those minerals, your opponent will surely be walled in (everyone plays Terran or Protoss nowadays) or have a few ground troops to easily kill of your drones.
If you want to do cannon rushes, play as PROTOSS. Much easier, much much much more effective, AND they can shoot air.

This video is only to document the bug which I found during beta phase 1; I thought Blizz might patch it out, so I posted this video for posterity.
