  • well you people i agree with robochimp. u people r nothing but rude fucking indian bozos!

  • o well plenty more thai's around

  • Robochimp works at McDonalds. What do you expect when a person's IQ is 70. Probably believes in an imaginary God too. lol He won't be designing our next mobile phone.

  • its too bad he didn't have a surf board

  • man says "you shall not pass!!!!!!!"

  • @kamekazi301 he was trollin on that wave

  • Remeber, from high up everything looks slower. so maybe this dumbass did try to run, it just looks slow on the video.

  • Remeber, from high up everything looks slower. so maybe this dumbass did try to run, it just looks slow on the video

  • Did he actually think it was normal that the wave smashed a 20 meter high battleship over, the water receeding back 500 meters, people running away, a 10 meter high wave heading at 800 km per hour at him? Was he asleep and then woke up 10 seconds before the wave hit him. com on man! get smarter in the afterlife! RIP Dummy

  • @robochimp143 Kid, you have to realize even if he was 100 yards away and still running, with a tsunami like that coming towards you, the chances of survival would be very unlikely. If anything, he wanted to die and chose an easy way out, instant death, no pain. Maybe his life sucked, idk? You've posted four times in a row.. we get it!

  • @skating1611 leave that kid alone,he is stupid

  • @robochimp143 You are genuinly a stupid cunt.. Whats the point in running, it would inevitably catch up with him so he chose to stay. I saw it in a documentary, he just stood there and took it.. OUT OF CHOICE

  • That dude is the most stupid person in the world! what was he thinking when a 10 meter wall of water came at 800 km\h strait at him, what a loser! still, i hope he is alive

  • @robochimp143 Robochimp - you are so fucking stupidt. Telling that guy to get smart? hey, captain hindsight, that guy didnt know what happened and how fast the waves were. he didnt see any battleships or anything else. Before this disaster very few people in the world ever knew anything about tsunamis. By the way the waves never reached 800km/h. they go close to that only in the open ocean, as they reached the shore they topped out at 50km/h. Dont be an idiot. Stupid fuck.

  • He died instantly, people.

  • what a way to go. to accept death like that.

    badass.

  • Wave- 1 point

    Man-0 points

  • the girl was still screaming run after the tsunami hit him wtf is he just gunna magically swim the wave and get onto shore and run?!? poor dude RIP

  • he jumps into it wtf!

  • He was one of the people that ran down catch fish when the water receded. realizing his mistake too late, he didnt even try to run

  • This bit of footage was in a 90 min documentary viewable on youtube. A tsunami can travel up to 940kph or 600mph. When the wave approached, running would have been futile. The impact of the water hitting him alone would've shattered his bones, not to mention dragging him underwater for several miles and crushing him against all the debris. This man must have been insane, if you look closely he starts of sitting on the beach with his back to the wave, then gets up and looks at it, before running.

  • After the earthquake; the sea flooded out into the streets of Khoa Lak doing damage to many properties. Then suddenly it swept back out by 300ft for some unknown reason. Next thing, theres an enormous white crescent on the sea horizon and a wave 36ft tall fastly approaching. Many people did not even realise it was a tsunami until it engulfed the police boat just offshore. Everyone then fled the beaches. The voices in the video were shouting "run". This man had more than enough chances to run.

  • Sigh people the man couldn't do anything us humans are not able to outrun waves going this fast he would have died anyway had he tried to run.

  • Sad, but when the water recedes a few 100ft and you think that is 'normal', you end up at the top of the darwin awards.

  • Comment removed

  • I cant believe he actually challenged the sea

  • @Doom6108 No the man knew he could not outrun the wave u idiot i would do the same.

  • uff. that's terrible. what was he doing there? nobody informed him of the tsunami coming up?

  • Aww this is so sad he might have kids and everything

  • Those waves where going at 200kmph, the initial impact would have snapped his spin and knocked him out meaning he wouldn't have to suffer, this man had a seriously large set of balls to do that...rip

  • Hey you know he might have made the right choice. Think about it. There is no debri in the water yet, just water. So he would have time to swim and prepare to grab onto something. Had he run inland a bit, he would then have to contend with all the ragged debri that would now be in the water.

Is there any official release if this guy died or not?

    PS. God isn't real

  • @surfmusicjamweedgirl he did do the right thing. He removed himself from the gene pool thus bettering the entire human race. WTF was he thinking going out there when the sea pulls back like that.

  • @surfmusicjamweedgirl your a knob if you think this was the right choice. Hmmm the entire ocean is being sucked out to sea and all the locals are running away from the beach.... finally i can get some peace and quite

  • @surfmusicjamweedgirl Says the toasted weed girl.

  • MP3 on too loud?

  • he is drunk..

  • hahahahaha that guy just got fucking raped !

  • @benjomacrenjo

he died, i don't see why thats so funny

  • Based on the longer version i saw they were plenty of people on the beach that day , everybody started running when they saw the big waves ( the man could not have miss that ) , he didn't want to run & then he faced the waves .

  • wow he probably didnt even realize what was hitting him him until it was too late.... he was like "godayum, i spent 120 bucks on these shoessss... oo fuck!" and dead.

  • That is very sad may his soul rest in peace

  • Why? Why didn't u run!!!

  • @mavrick2255 He would never have made it anyway but he probably belived it was Gods will.

  • gosh thts sooo bad.. why dint he run???

  • @xXxbritazxXx even if he did he wouldnt make it? poor man RIP?

  • The world pissed Kisame off O_O

  • I have to admit it sorta looks fun O_O

  • I wonder what were the things he was thinking 10 secs before he got hit

  • @MisterStud209 probably his family? Maybe? just a guess.

  • BOOYAH

  • I know that filmer, hes name is Noon!

  • 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami on wikipedia.

    no.of fatalities - est .184,000 !!!

then theres a section on earthquakes ..shannxi.......eight. hundred. and. twenty. fucking. thousand.

and you / me ...is just ....1.

    fuck this shit.

  • later this man was found healthy , hanging on a coconut tree. He only lost his backpack, so he had to stay longer than planned.

  • @doubl3m1nt shut up dude, dont make fun

  • @doubl3m1nt How do you know this? The force of that water would have broken his back or at least drowned him

  • he actually looks like a little kid playing in the water ... :(

  • This single wave killed over 100,000

    He's dead

  • What is she saying? Does anybody know?

  • @ThoughtGazeCarlos probably she was saying "run you god damn idiot!"

  • @ThoughtGazeCarlos yes and ist a MAN!!! Not a fucking girl!

  • is this man died ?

  • @dylan333000 along with 200,000 others

  • The thing about it is if your looking straight at it from ground level it doesn't look that bad unless you see it take a fucking naval battleship under in the distance. I don't think he could tell what he was getting into. If he knew he could have ran to those trees and started climbing. Only chance. If he survived he would have been one lucky fucker. 99.9% probability that guy is done.

  • did he die?

  • wtf

  • RIP froom Germany

  • PWND

  • lol, this is the funniest video i have seen in ages. thanks for the post

  • curiosity killed the cat

  • in my view i think the man was very old judging by the way he turns away from the wave & walks away from his oncoming death, which would explain his poor vision in seeing the wave coming towards him and the slowness he turns and walks are the actions of someone moving slowly, unable to run, got to be an old man who had lived a long life, people sayin a nasty way to die, id rather go like that suddenly than slowly dying in pain from an illness like cancer, alzhiemers or male patten baldness

  • if this happens, your best bet is to body surf it then run. rip to the guy

  • @abcsmoshed i think uve been watching to many cartoons or not getting out into the real world to think he could body surf the wave to safety. i think a better bet was to take a very very very deep breath so u inflate up big and round like a beach ball and then u could just float and bob along the surface, i was in exactly the same sitution and it worked for me. hah! surfing the wave that is so ridiculous

  • @bryngOneOn i guess the beach ball method would work too

  • he should have gone to specsavers.......

  • R.I.P.

  • lolzzz of power..MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • This guy was kinda stupid. If you see everybody else running away, why would you stay? Did he think he was the hulk or something? I feel bad for this guy for losing his life, but when you see people running away, you don't think about it, you run away too.

  • @Mr2002MustangGT To me it looked like he accepted the wave. I wonder if he knew what was going to happen.

  • @fnog9 I doubt he knew it was going to happen. It seems when he turned his back walking from the wave coming in he must of thought it was just going to go right by him. I'm sure he had know idea how strong that wave really was, but I guess we'll never know.

  • I always imagined Tsunamis as these gigantic waves that crashed on land, but most I see are just rushing water. I guess the waves crash off shore a long way eh? lol

  • @FenrirIceKing A tsunami doesnt have a wave break, it is simply a huge force of watrer (remeber they can travel thousands of kilometres without anybody knowing they are there. Its a huge force of water

  • i dont think it was that he was dumb or slow, its just the shock, you turn around and see that you dont think run away, you think omg, just stare in wonder and then realise you need to run but by then its too late.

  • the guy has got to be like an old age pensioner to not react anymore than he did, or to have been extremely near sighted, as he turns round to hobble away at the last second in such a slow casual manner. this is one of those film clips and photos that never leaves you like the bhuddist monk who sits immnobile in the lotus position and then sets fire to himself, i am annoyed that the footage is so poor, but i guess if given choice of a freak big wave or man on beach, u film the wave, still a pity

  • i cant believe(and i've spent many moments wondering about this, about y the guy just stood there)cant believe he looked out to sea ,saw wave coming & then weighed up the pros and cons of legging it, no matter how futile, how could anyone be that calm and clear headed to think " well i'm def going to die here, nothing i can do, so might as well enjoy the view" i've come to the conclusion the guy was either a dribbling retard or his wife had just left him & suicide was on the cards anyways

  • @bryngOneOn

uh. or he was terrified to the point he couldnt move. stunned, traumatized by the fucking tsunami coming towards him at ridiculously high speeds.

  • Does anyone know the name of the man in the video?

  • praying to god or making fun of this doesnt change anything ! it happens and it will again . stfu bible thumpers and people that cant take a joke .. this already happened so making fun or sticking up for this does nothing stfu stfu

  • There is no way anyone could have survived that. It appears he is walking TOWARD the water's edge, only to try to out run the incoming waves. Sad.

  • Even i may never get to know them, this still makes me sad.

  • praying to god does nothing...

  • @Hogwie U fuckin asshole.

We fuckin had to evacuate the coastal areas.

    It aint fuckin funny

    We could have dies

  • it's only stupid english... you can do that to a lot of english words. Other languages don't do anything of that sort. And they are much older then english...

    BOOYAH

  • @gnidich2000 god doesnt exist BOOYA

  • @03sj you know its funny people are so quick to blame anyone they can for tragedies like this and "god" whatever that means anymore is always the first on the list why not the"devil" its like even if the devil was responsible God is still blamed for not stopping it? I guess blaming anyone else make small insecure people fill better. When in reality its just nature, this happens and it will happen more and more often.Prepare yourself for the end as we know it is near.

  • @03sj I'm a Christian and God had nothing to do with this. This was caused by an earthquake, which triggered the tsunami and not God's wrath.

  • @03sj that is the stupidest argument ive ever heard. the only thing you could do to help your atheist cause is keep your mouth shut retard

  • @03sj Your comment is not valid for any language but English.

  • @03sj u retard thats wat u gusy get for being neo natsi bastards u could share the grave with hitler wen u die for writing that

  • @03sj i bet he just thought that it was the beginning of a water slide at wild rivers...

  • @03sj Im not religious so I'm not particularly offended by your comments. But that can't work for any language but english. So if you're gonna teach us all english I've got a lesson for you, look yourself up in the dictionary, it'll say 03sj (noun) Known for being a pretentious prick. BOOYAH

  • I wanna die like this.

  • go to water world in florida, they got a wave pool

  • fish food.

  • It seems this guy faced the fury of mother nature and lost.

  • that looks more like a little kid to me not a man... and that is debistating and sad, it makes me feel horrible how many people loose there lives by waves and tsunami's

  • What does debistating mean?

  • not a good place to catch a tan

  • only white people tan so assuming the person is white ('i love how much some white people think they are normal')

  • nice one you racist cunt. dont complain next time people call you niggers and monkeys. cause by the looks of it you deserve it. people like you make me regret fucking voting for obama. NEVER AGAIN.

  • this man looks more like a little child to me .. and i also think there is no possibility that he survived this .. even if he survived the first wave .. the wave would have sucked him right back to the next , bigger wave..

  • that man... waiting for superman' came and save that man..

  • i heard he lived and hes from wales apparently he was on tv tlking about it...thats jus what i heard

  • Poor man.......poor human being......at the speed that was coming in, even if he run as fast as humanly possible he wouldnt have avoided it. Knowing your death is approaching and theres no escape and just standing and accepting it, waiting, bravely waiting and letting death consume you..........such a brave, brave soul.

  • R.I.P. he chose his destiny.

  • MEGA PWNAGE

  • you are sick ! this man understood what was going to happen to him so he was brave and died and you are saying things like " he should have gone to specsavers" or "MEGA PWNAGE " you make me sick and you are an embarrasment to this earth, to watch another human being die and then laugh about it is a horrible thing i hope you think it over and really really pray that god forgives you

  • Well if thats the case then he should have prayed to God for a surf board.

  • you want to pray to your god, and tell him to stop making these tsunamis. if he loves us all, why kill 250,000 innocent men, woman and children

  • oh we do, but we know he'll look after us because we love him. if there is sin in the world, then those who ruin it are the people like you who dont ask for forgiveness. it's your fault :)

  • i think you need to wake up. and stop living in this fantasy land. thinking there is an invisible man in the sky watching over us all.

  • shut up. Just shut up.

I'd like to see your face when you die and realizes that there's no heaven.

  • at least i have something to live for in life:) but this is the last comment im doing here.. seriously why would i waste my precious time on fabulous people like you pfffffffft

  • fuck off and suck dick, bible basher.

  • Lol, it's so funny to watch the religion haters get so worked up over the internet event when they started the argument. It really displays the mentality of these kinds of people.

  • Wow you are the most disgusting person Ive had the displeasure to see say something in a LONG time. You are a horrible human being.

  • @Quetez23 wat r u on about btw

  • He should of gone to spec savers.

  • yea me to....if it was me i would of hauled ass to the nearest tree....but i know my chances are slim to none.

  • he was out pretty far, must of been collecting fish. he must of thought it was his lucky day before the drink swallowed him

  • I wonder if that guy made it

  • most likely no or he would have been on tv

  • Thanks for sharing the story about this video -

I always wondered what the person in this video was thinking - whether he just wanted to "catch the wave" and he didn't realize the danger he was in, or whether he knew exactly that it was going to be the end - an decided there was no point in running away.

The way he is turning around before the wave hits makes me he probably underestimated the magnitude of the event.

So many people died - it's beyond all grasp.

    R I P ...

  • may he rest in peace...

  • R.I.P

  • 150% Pwnd

  • aww im sorry to hear that he died

    R. I. P.

  • does he have a dog with him or is that his shadow?

  • Looked like that guy had his arms in the air ready to meet his maker - or could be blurr

  • do u think the man that got hit by the wave survived?

  • Sorry, but he did not. Perished along with 100s or thousands of others.

  • @gnidich2000 is there any way to be certain?

  • well ya he got raped by that fucken thing

  • That's pretty obvious, dude. If you don't die by getting hit by a massive volume of water (like a group of trucks being thrown at you), drowning will finish you off. Anyway, r.ip. to the victims... :(

  • @cawl2009 no I do not. If he survived the initial impact, the surge would have brough him very far inland. Eventually, he'd be crushed by something. You can see how much water rushes inland after the initial wave. It's like a half super wave, half earth moving. No way he survived. I think even the initial impact would killl him.

  • human monkey race- are you being sarcastic about that comment?

  • Huhu yea, awesome. You're one of those guys who is always ready to take joy in other's people's misery but is crying like a bitch when they get a splinter in their finger.

Go get jizzed in the face.

  • Droedelzak

Are you talking to me with that "go get jizzed" comment?

  • and one more thing,

just look up "tsunami anukul charoenkul" on google and you should come across the articles i read. one of them clearly says (even in the words of the cameraman himself) that he filmed the disaster to make money to keep his thai restaraunt in business.

  • What is your problem? I just read all the articles on him - it says he sold the videos afterwards because his business was failing (as a result of the tsunami destroying Khao Lak). It never once even IMPLIES he didn't help warn people. He was screaming at people down on the beach the whole time to run. And he wasn't sure what was going to happen, just like everyone else. He didn't know about tsunami waves. Should he have gone down and got killed?

Have some decency and respect next time.

  • well yeah actually... in that situation i would have risked my life to possibly save a few people down there... so i would have at least gone all the way to the beach and yelled at them to finally get their attention, not just sit there and film them look on to certain death.

so i'm the one having respect here, you've just misunderstood me.

  • I'm not gonna get into an obnoxious youtube war, but how was he supposed to know how big the tsunami was gonna be? For all he knew it was gonna be tiny, or so big that even his restaurant way uphill wouldn't be safe. He wasn't psychic - he heard it may come and thats all.

Again, how you can be so disrespectful I just don't understand. You cite the google articles and yet none of the articles say he didn't help warn people.

  • You say you are not going to get into a youtube "war," yet you are provoking one.....hmmm.

And actually he got a phone call from down the coast at Phuket, and he was told him how large the wave was. He got that phone call right after the wave hit Phuket, which was 20-30 mins. before Khao Lak was struck. PLENTY of time to warn some of the people down at Sunset.

Maybe you should actually get to know everything you can about something before being a prick on a video comment.

  • The first wave in Phuket was 5ft high. The first wave in Khao Lak was 34ft high. If someone called him and said "A tsunami is coming, it just hit here" how would he know A) That it would take 20min for it to hit him B)That it was gonna be so huge it would sweep inland and kill 4,000 ppl.

You first said the guy said he wanted to profit from the disaster once he heard the tsunami was coming. Please show an article that says that\ - cause thats a foolish thing to believe.

  • The first wave was different heights all across Phuket, highest at Patong and Kamala beaches. Khao Lak ultimetely had only one, massive tsunami wave, which battered the coast and killed 4000 + people. This wave was not 34 feet at all locations in Khao lak, either.

He knew when the wave was about to hit because the water receded from the beach at least 5 minutes before the waves actually engulfed the coast.

  • even if he had, by the time he got back to the top of the hill, people could have still wandered onto the beach. you can't control everything evrgrnn.

  • i know i can't. i never said i could.

  • You don't know that unless you have experienced yourself.

  • you can NEVER say you would have done something in a certain situation until it is actually happening .. psychology student..

  • What you talking about Girl? I said 150% Owned not MEGA PWNAGE or specsavers

  • i never said he didnt TRY to warn the people on the coast, but he certainly could have made a better effort to warn them. but the truth is (he even said so himself) that the reason he filmed the video was to make money and profit from the disaster. he sold the footage for 300 baht a video.

so you are right and you are wrong at the same time. you are right because you said he TRIED to warn them, but you are wrong because you said that he made a strong effort to warn them, which is untrue.

  • the guy who filmed this footage only did so to get money off of it. i read a news article about this footage and he said (the cameraman) that when he had heard that a tsunami wave was rushing toward the beach, he grabbed his camera with only money in mind, and didn't really make a strong effort to warn the tourists down at khao lak about the overpowering waves coming toward them. And then he ended up selling the video to people all over thailand.

  • Thats wrong my friend. The guy who was filming it, was the owner of the restaurant on the cliff. He warned all his customers and other people to get away from the beach. Not many listened, because his english was bad. I don't know where you got this information, but it's completely wrong.

  • @gnidich2000 i heard that he filmed it for cash too, he then went to try and film the body , but when he found the man washed up on the beach several hours later, he found the guy was still breathing but unconcious, that he was still alive meant he would get less money for his film footage so he got a nearby coconut and bashed him dead over the head with it like a fisherman kills a caught fish, i know its true as my mate showed me the coconut, it says asda on it and everything.

  • he had no floaties

  • whooow r.i.p

  • He clearly knew there was no way he could survive - so instead of running he just decided to watch a one in a thousand year event.
