  • Fuck him! he pissed off Brian.

  • I really don't agree with pirating either, the problem is censorship. This is one of the very few things that I disagree with him on.

  • I'm going to go pirate your movie for saying something that stupid, Bill.

  • All he said is that this might be a red herring. Let's be honest every one of us who has illegaly downloaded anything knows its stealing and we can get away with it. SOPA was obviously a ridiculous law but the problem of online piracy is technically still there.

  • Tipical liberal stupidity.

  • @tomlin9697 Typical conservative spelling.

  • "we still want free shit"

your goddamn straight! and we're getting free shit... and i doubt theres anything u can do about it ^~^

  • Just Bill Maher the corporate shill doing what he does best.

  • @prskaloo1 Always do you research and take things with a grain of salt.

  • @RandomJ0e

ofcourse your right about that, didn't know much about it that's why i asked :) so tnx for the info

  • @prskaloo1 Nope, They just give 2% of funds to then animals so they legally “helped.” Spend over 17% in crazy ads then they do actually helping animals to increase profits and get media attention whether good nor bad. Then pay employes and split the money among the top CEO. Ironic Bill Maher is on the board. They even stopped give to local shelters and centerlized the money into their own “helpful organization.” Don't believe what they tell you they just want to make a quick buck.

  • @TEEJAY9920 I used to like and respect Maher but then I realized something. He is liberal Bill O'reiliy. The only difference is they are on the opposite political spectrum. Compare their attitudes, arrogance and the “If you don't believe in what I do then you stupid and uninformed” mantra. He doesn't care about you or anybody just the almighty dollar. BTW Time Warner (his employers) supported Sopa.

  • @superglickster1 Not necessarily morals are formed by what people perceive is social acceptable but religion does play a part in a lot of peoples morality.

  • @TEEJAY9920 HE DOESN'T CARE I'm sorry to tell you this but he doesn't if he didn't see a profit in this demographic he wouldn't be there.

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers Speaking of which, Maher is on the board of PETA yet he never explained why PETA has lied, killed, froze and dumped over 27,000 animals in a trash can that they SAID THEY WILL find homes for. What can I say I really don't expect much from a company that only donates 1% of funds to actually help animals and 17% for their crazy stunts.

  • @RandomJ0e

what?? isn't PETA like really helping the animals?

  • @prskaloo1 is that sarcasm? because sarcasm doesnt translate well into text.

  • @tuseroni

no unfortunately, i thought PETA was to some degree valid :/

  • @prskaloo1 its understandable they have a very innocent sounding name "people for the ethical treatment of animals" i mean im a person, and im for the ethical treatment of animals. unfortunately PETA is really just nuts, they dont do anything to help animals. they kill over 90% of the pets they "rescue" all the while protesting about how "meat is murder"

they condone people killing researchers using animal testing and blowing up laboratories.

  • CodeRed001 That's cute you actually think he cares about you and he did it for his message and not money. What's next, we bail out Wall street bankers again because it's the American thing to help our neighbors. All kidding aside listen bro he really doesn't care if not for money he would even be there wake up. He's a heartless and arrogant as everybody else in mainstream media.

  • First time I disagree with Bill Maher

  • @Ben1987X Same here dude.

  • What about people who pirated Religulous because they feared buying or renting it because of religious persecution in their community? Shouldn't Bill Maher be happy that the message conveyed in Religulous was received by those who pirated the movie? He seemed so concerned about society destroying itself from superstitious beliefs in his documentary but when it comes to losing a little money he makes an exception? Religulous brought in over 13 million dollars in the box office so why complain?

  • Say what you want about Bill Maher supporting Sopa but you have to admit that:"We still want free shit" at the end is the thinking behind the anti-Sopa movement (which I support)

  • Comment removed

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers I wish I could thumbs up your comment so hard that it'll appear on completly unrelated videos.

  • So Bill Maher supports SOPA... Wow, it hurts when someone you used to admire makes a huge FAIL like this.

  • I fail to see the ownage in this video it looks like a conversation

  • Uh, I don't think he got owned. He is in favor of eliminating piracy, yes, but when he opened it up for discussion that was not the aspect of SOPA they discussed. They talked about logistical issues, other problems that would arise because of SOPA. I don't think anyone there was disagreeing with Bill Maher on the issue of piracy, and since that's really all he talked about, he didn't really get owned.

  • @singlesidedampersand How about they go back to video tape and people will stop pirating it. Do you reaqlly think thousands and millions of people ere pirating religulous? Please.. 99% of people dont know how to pirate, and thats a good trade off considering it costs bill 5 cents to make a copy of his movie and sells it for $20. Man, those pirates are so evil to not let bill have his 100000% profit based on technology that the technological pirates created.

  • @WoopyGoldbergsHair Look, I wasn't arguing with you about whether or not pirating is wrong. All I said is that he really didn't get owned. Go ahead and rationalize pirating all you like.

  • 'All the money I lost'. But wouldn't he would have shared all of his money like he wants all of the lowly subjects to?

  • I think the fact that so much internet piracy exists is is someways beneficial for the entertainment industry. Especially in terms of music, because it will mean the people creating art actually like what they are doing and want thier art to be seen and heard rather than make money. To quote henry rollins "Id rather be heard than paid" If my band made an album and it was being pirated like mad, i would just be glad that people liked it, then if i wanted to make a living i would just tour.

  • I don't see how he got owned by anybody. He made a point that piracy is a problem and needs to be dealt with in his opinion, and his guests agreed with him and then explained why SOPA is not the vehicle to do it with. Sounds like a reasonable discussion to me, and if any of you are expecting any politicians, pundits, or even friends to agree 100% with every opinion you have, you are gonna end up one lonely son of a bitch.

  • There was no schooling here....

  • I love Bill Maher and agree with most of his views, but he's pretty misinformed about SOPA. While it's true that people want stuff for free, most opponents of SOPA aren't using the first amendment as a red herring. Most opponents of the bill still oppose piracy, but Maher redirects their opposition to base greed.

  • Sure we want free shit. We also want a free society, though, and preferrably no newspeak like that old "stealing" crap.

Good that I happened not to pay for Religulous (not that it was AFAIK available in non-DRM digital distribution anyway, which is a requirement), if the money would've gone to a copyright conservative.

  • I really like Bill Maher. I agree with a lot of his views on politics and ethics, but this is were I draw the line in the sand. I would expect this kind of logic from Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reily. Does he not realize that even his own show and or website can be put into jeopardy from these bills? Mr. Maher, I really respect you but you need to wake the fuck up!

  • @TEEJAY9920 He didn't say he supports the bill, he says "somebody should bring the moral issue on this". What he's saying internet piracy is hurting so many artists, performers, who work their asses off so they can make a song, or write a book, or make a movie. ACTA was more of a wake up call than a bill, an appeal to the people, so they can tone down, on desecrating people's work. To buy what they were working on for years. That's the other side of the story, no one brings up.

  • Comment removed

  • You have your own TV show. You sit in a chair, look into a camera, and tell people your opinion for one hour, once a week, and make more money in a year than most people working eight hours a day, doing a job they hate will make in ten years, and you sit there and complain that some people watched your documentary for free. You make me sick Bill! You don't care if the government bends us over as long as it makes you money. Fuck you Bill!

  • i love ya bill! but u gotta read shit before you talk shit

  • 95688kage. A typical liberal takes what is obvious and muddies it up. Religion drives morality. Without a sense a right and wrong, society would crumble. Agnostics, etc. don't drive morality. A world full of Bill Maher's would destroy itself.

  • @superglickster1 I know right from wrong just fine, and it's not a fear of eternal damnation that keeps me from doing wrong. It's love and respect for my fellow man. Of course, your idea of what's wrong might differ from mine. I don't think sex before marriage is wrong, nor do I think homosexuals are wrong. I do think raping altar boys is wrong though.

  • @Dreamline78 i sinerely hope you are equating the rape of children by moral authority figures with SOPA, because you'd be in my top 5 most correct people of the month if you are ;)

  • ACTA!STOP ACTA!

  • I paid for Religulous (rented for a couple of days) and wish I'd pirated it, not worth the money he complains about losing. Sure I don't necessarily agree with pirating but laws like SOPA won't help, if you want to stop piracy offer a better service than the pirates.

  • isohunt.com/torrent_details/63530681/religulous?tab=summary

    religulous torrent

  • Bill Maher is a complete fucking moron. And should shut his fucking mouth before he talks about something that he knows nothing about, fuckuing piece of shit

  • Bill maher is fucking moronic piece of faggots shit, fucking loser.

  • Bill Maher does have a tendency to talk about shit he has no clue about, i.e. the Israeli/Palestinian crisis. I love to listen to him when he knows what he's talking about, but there's the odd time he pulls off lazy crap like this.

Bill Maher didn't lose money because people downloaded his documentary. Most people that download movies weren't going to buy it in the first place. It's just like when cassette tapes came out. Did the music industry lose their collective shirts because of dubbing?

  • @avenuePad its funny cause the cassete tapes were from sony lol

  • You know compared to the amount of money made by the entertainment industry, LEGAL downloads on the internet and money made from piracy. Piracy doesn't steal anywhere near the amount of money that would cause any significant losses. It's just been blown way out of proportion.

It would also be cheaper for the entertainment industry to simply upload their material to the internet instead of spending money to make DVDs and CDs. I'm not talking bullshit here these are facts.

  • Bill Maher net worth $23 million

Complains about poor people not paying for his next mansion

    Cunt

  • @xanadu man.. Im just saying the way this bill has been overwhelmingly supported by harry reid (and his liberal democratic colleagues in the house) is a perfect example of what the leftist agenda IS and what it will ALWAYS BE all about--bigger government and smaller individual liberty.

  • @the mega xanax dude.... Uh, yeah i do understand that these bills are pending in the house.. And.....what?

  • Bill Maher grumbles about the morality of people who are stealing his movie. His movie makes fun of Religion. The irony is as thick as a liberal skull.

  • @superglickster1 Religion and morality are two unconnected and unrelated things. Atheists. agnostics, and theists each have there own morals.

  • I actually like Bill even though I disagree with about 90% of what he says.

  • Poor Maher, making millions and not getting the tens of millions he wants... boohoo.

  • Copyright is just a fancy word for greed. It is not altruism, altruism is doing whats best for all not for yourself. Copyrights need to go.

  • wow, I liked Bill Maher until I saw this. I wish he did just a little research to see the implications of this bill. This wouldn't even hurt piracy, every time governments crack down on something they create gigantic black markets.

  • -Bill Maher would be willing to trade the due process and freedom of speech for the chimera of extra profit? He is a douche.

People who download for free are the people who would not pay the asking price. Ergo, no lost sales. The fact is that there may be a net increase in sales as a result in increased exposure of the downloaded content.

He also insults essentially everyone who is against the bills by calling them thieves. Again, his is a douche.

  • Bill Maher is still upset about his movie, which really is him just bashing Islam and saying all of them are mindless monsters. This asshole is already rich, and the reason why he supports this bill was that people didn't buy this shitty movie. Grow up, there is more at stake then just making an extra $6.50 on you movie. I agree with the lady, You have to operate with a scalpel, not an axe. Cause if you do, you will kill the basic operations of the Internet.

  • hey hey.... Bill Maher read the freakin bill! so you understand what the hell you're talking about 0:36

  • 2:14 Why the fuck are shitbag Americans up in arms about the "act first and ask questions later" approach when it concerns the internet and their Starbucks experience and yet when their own uniformed terrorists commit massacres in Iraq under that same banner, Americans, their government, and their faux justice system turn a blind eye? I oppose both SOPA and PIPA, but this fucking dirty terrorist nation has its priorities ass-backwards.

  • Be objective. He prefaced it by saying he did not read the bill and had no idea of its contents. He therefore never explicitly said he supported SOPA. He simply pointed out, from the point of view of someone who makes a living in the media, that it is indeed a form of stealing to share copyrighted material freely. He's still the same secular, free-thinking, crass, hilarious iconoclast provocateur badass he has always been.

  • Paraphrasing Maher: "I haven't read the bill but I'm going to sit here and comment on it like I did."

    Fucking idiot.

  • Bill Maher, typical Jew: "Oh my, the money we lost on that documentary!" Yeah, because we only do things for money, our one and only God. And "god" forbid we do something just to benefit society and thus everyone, including myself, on the whole.

  • Bill Maher is a typical douchebag liberal who contradicts himself constantly. Claims to be a Libertarian, yet was all wet for Obummer getting into office. Is a member of fucking PETA, yet didn't believe in neutering/ spaying his own dogs for some time. Claimed to hate censorship so many times, yet supported SOPA. The list goes on and on. He's a Hollyweird piece of trash who makes millions for yapping like a lapdog. If everyone ignored this piece of shit, he'd finally crawl back under his bridge.

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers No way, Maher is SO smart. He knows why my friends and I spread the word about SOPA, it's because we want free shit! Not because we're afraid our ISPs would charge us more money since it would cost them millions to conform to SOPA! Not because I don't want my monthly Internet bill to go up!

This asshole mentions a red herring and then throws out a strawman saying everyone against SOPA supports piracy. I used to like this guy but not anymore.

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers Looks like you have yet to ignore him

  • @oneblach I'm watching this video on youtube. This is the first time I've even SEEN a clip with Bill in years. I don't watch his show, never have, didn't care about his Religulous crap (and this is coming from an atheist); I don't give this idiot one red cent. Now go and stick your tongue back up his ass.

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers Here is a big middle finger: from ME to you!

  • @oneblach Lmao, someone's butthurt. Remember to take your Midol before you log on to youtube next time, honey ;)

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers strong words. I'm guessing you do not agree in the saying "to each his/her own", or living outside of a stereotype. Perhaps that is the bigger issue: people who live their lives and have their thoughts governed by group ideals rather than individually examining social issues and then determining their individual thoughts on the matter. I do not agree with Bill Maher in this instance, but I support his right to have an opinion that is not my own.

  • @CMalott21 Having an (in Bill's case, uninformed) opinion is one thing; constantly contradicting yourself is another. The man is a total hypocrit.

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers *hypcrite. Damn Swype

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers AMEN!! Great great comment!!

  • @GrowMoreMddleFingers Wow you're dumb. Social libertarian. Has been an Obama critic, often calling him a republican's best friend. Nowhere in this video does he say he support the bill. He makes millions of dollars yet wants higher taxes so in the end will earn less. Liberal douchebag? You do know that SOPA was written by a republican right?

  • I wanna kill the people who even thought of SOPA, I know congress is the one, but THE PERSON or GROUP is who I wanna beat the living shit out of. o_________o

  • and they shut down Megaupload before conviction. We are in a new world and the dinosaurs cannot accept it. Money is weak and has no place in our future, but they can't help it. Because money divides and elevates, allowing some the luxury of being able to look down on others and derive pleasure and self worth from that. Information will be free and you'd think someone would put a documentary together to spread that info, not to simply make money to feed this virus. I guess HBO doesn't pay enough.

  • "I don't know anything about it but I'll talk about it anyways." so when the hell did Bill Maher become fox news?

  • forget about sopa, they almost completed ACTA, an agreement wich will do the same and more across the USA/Canada/Europian Union/japan/... pls all google ACTA it will have the same effect ass SOPA on a global scale!

  • Bill maybe ur movie just sucked..get over it. If you really cared about the messege of the movie you wouldn't care about profit.

  • It's not about free shit. It's about freedom. Asshole.

  • I like Bill Maher, but in this case he's wrong. First of all when you open your arguments by saying that you know next to nothing about the specifics of the bill you're off to a bad start. Second, a pretty good analogy would be a guest on his show doing something illegal & the government coming in & shutting down his show immediately. Then investigating.

  • Bill Maher is even more ignorant than the government members who proposed the bill.

  • The Bill is not dead, it is on hold.

As soon as we are not looking they are going to try and pass it again.

  • Buddy Roemer is way too sane and sensible to be nominated by the Republicans!

  • Whoever posted this video wasn't listening to what Bill was saying. He never said he was for SOPA, but he did say that he was glad that attention has finally been brought to the pirating issue. I can understand why him and other types of entertainment media would be upset when they're not paid for their work. I'm sure if Bill Maher actually read the bill, he'd probably oppose it.

  • @ZeckRichards Well the problem I had with what Bill said was at 0:31 - 0:47, where he called the free speech argument against the bill a 'red herring'. To me that's synonymous with saying that it was a b.s. argument standing in the bill's way. And that's gonna be his argument after saying that he didn't read the bill? The issue of piracy is a legitimate concern and I don't mind Bill bringing it up, but I think he did snipe the free speech argument as he did so.

  • dont see how he got owned .....

  • if it pissses him off that people pirate his documentary, I'd bet he'd be really pissed if he found out you can watch his documentary on youtube pretty easily.

  • If it weren't for people watching Bill Maher illegally on youtube, no one would remember who he is anymore. Nobody gets HBO. Nobody.

  • The only reason I started watching anything of Bill Maher's was due to seeing Religilous on youtube. Youtube gets you out there. Sucks that someone who I'm guessing is a millionaire lost some money -_-

  • I wish Buddy could get in on a televised debate. He's running for the Rebublican leadership, and has basically been shut out. Peace.

  • I never thought i will see a day when in between Bill Maher and a guy with a southern accent i will be on the southerner side. WTF are you talking about ? You never read the bill but you have an opinion?

  • Yeah, Bill wasn't getting the whole picture of why SOPA was shot down. Maher isn't as smart as he makes himself out to be.

  • I used to like you Bill Maher. Now I hate you.

  • Fuck of Bill... and you Maher!

  • Shut the fuck up Bill Maher you stupid greedy fucking bastard. HOW MUCH MORE MONEY DO YOU NEED? Fuck off.

  • Bill Maher can afford it, just like all those rich people he wants to tax

  • Oh there's a moral dimension? So that should translate into law then? Enforcing morals? Great job, Bill Maher. You may as well become 'religulous'.

  • These comments are really sad. People stop making liberal and conservative remarks. Forget about republicans and democrats look at both sides of debates don't just listen to your parents or pastors, priests ministers or movie stars they are not always right instead find out as much info on something you feel is important from both sides. America is not about Republican or Democrat both do not help our country, think for your selves and forget your bias it is the worst thing you can have.

  • @crazyhorse1ck

I've looked at both sides and came to the conclusion they both suck.

  • @kamikazi1827.. Brain? It got

Me through college, med school, then dentistry school, but i try to add to it as much as i can every day..

Im just saying that bm is squirming because he knows the republicans are gonna make hay off this issue. And for good reason: its a perfect example of the liberal agenda..

  • Oh right, Bill, you lost money on "Religulous" because of *piracy*... right. The fact that you were being a cynical asshole throughout the whole film and weren't very funny besides... I'm sure that had nothing to do with it.

  • @melbyRick Skepticism is a bad thing? I don't think "Religulous" was necessarily supposed to be a pure comedy. The Jewish guy with all his silly contraptions; I found that to be odd and funny. Also, the rednecks in the bar. "I don't like where you're going with these questions." Why can't some religious people answer questions about their religion without being "offended" and getting emotional? Saying "I'm offended" does not hold in a debate. It also shows how weak your faith really is.

  • @MegaXanadude It's not my faith. My point is that he's attacking something and denouncing it as untrue; but he doesn't really understand it, or its origins in the first place. He only did the minimal amount of research, and the rest he just substituted in his arrogant, snide, rude personality as if we would think it was cute or funny. It was the way he did it that was offensive and a waste of time really. He didn't really explore any true history or philosophy...

  • You call it "Caucasian looting" huh Bill? Oh, how cute. Hey, you know, me and my friends have a cute little nick-name for *banking*... we call it Hebrew Robbery!

  • "I haven't read the bill but here's my uninformed opinion on it." ... wow, did Bill actually just do that?

  • He didn't lose money on the mockumentary from piracy. He lost money because his distribution company doesn't pay out proper residuals. Louis CK pretty much proved that everyone in Hollywood has been getting hosed over.

  • maher just knows that THIS is an example of the 'darker side' of the liberal, socialist mindset they want a huge, overbearing federal bureaucracy that'll limit individual liberty in the name of 'fairness to all'..

  • @mauijim00 LOL do you even listen to yourself? Like, seriously, do you have a brain?

  • @mauijim00 SOPA and PIPA ARE bills from the legislature. You know, the Federal Government...

  • bill really shows ignorance here. if you don't know what SOPA is, and if you don't know what's in it, and if you don't know why the entire WORLD not just america protested it, then maybe.. SHUT UP ABOUT IT

  • I love Bill Maher. This is the first time he's really pissed me off. So what your mockumentry was pirated. So what people want free shit in these fuckin times! Collect money one of the 100 other ways you know of! You're damn lucky telling jokes makes you rich and famous in your fucked up country! How dare you complain about it!

  • If ACTA or SOPA is passed it will destroy the paid entertainment industry. People will indeed stop pirating however they will move to the creative commons space and people will simply download legally free media instead.

Also, to any of the companies pushing these acts it is your own fault that I have ever pirated. In Australia I constantly recieve messages such as "This Video is unavailable in this region".

Piracy often stems from a lack of service, not a need to avoid purchasing things.

  • Free shit? No, Bill. I jusy want shit that does not come along with 4min of commercials for every min I watch. Also, how many ppl do you think that would be able to watch religulous while living in a theocracy? or was it all about the money? :/

  • Wow, Bill Maher is kind of a douche.

  • @TheMischaReviews my brain doesnt understand why the words "kind of" are in that sentence......

  • @TheMischaReviews Not kind of. He IS a douche.

  • @TheMischaReviews Yea, he is, that's why people like him but I prefer Jon Stewart. He's also a douche but a more lovable kind of douche. The kind of douche that you can take with you to the bathroom and spend hours on end with. Now, Glenn Beck? Damn, now that's one giant ass douche. I mean, he's just SO big. It's just impractical to even think of using him but, you know, sometimes a guy gets curious...

  • @TheMischaReviews Yeah, he also talks about his movie as if it was any good at all... Its a stupid blatant and constant lie and he talks about it as if he was some sort of enlightener. This guy is so full of sht that he's gonna spew it out of his mouth.

  • They Shouldn't let ppl that are older than the internet regulate it they don't understand how it works And they complain about money loss they really gonna die if they lost a couple of thousand dollars woopty doo your wallets fat enough i understand you worked on it and deserve the money but still We keep losing freedoms and government just find more ways to profit from regulation i cant stand how the US is run by over bearing old men trying to fix problems theyre making worse SMH

  • I like Roemer here

  • Ugh what a stupid move. "I dont know much about this extremely controversial bill, so im going to go completely against 99% of people without any actual background knowledge". Guess what Bill, without youtube, i would not know who the fuck you are.

  • Ok, so they have a congress, they hold a hearing on bills, and then I guess the speaker reads the bill. He reads it, others fall asleep, tweet, listen to final words 'in a nutshell', and then vote. I guarantee 90% of those people didn't even know what SOPA and PIPA was about until, during the vote, they typed in google on their iPhones and it was blacked out.

They keep slipping in these ridiculous bills, say "that looks good, sign it!" Then leave.

  • g@johanasfav Dude, I am not an artist. I have never said one way or the other that SOPA or PIPA was good or bad. Frankly, I don't even care, as either way it would not have made the slightest difference in how I live my life. If the United States' Government decided to shoot themselves in the economic foot, then who the heck am I to question. I have never had any of my intellectual property stolen and passed around the internet. Can it not be enough to be against theft?

  • bill maher fails at knowing things again.....

  • I "like" how Bill Maher thinks that everyone who pirated his Religulous video would be paying customers if the piracy wasn't legal. HA! He'd be lucky id maybe5% of the pirates would actually pay for it.

What Bill and many people in this entertainment business seem to forget is that piracy INCREASES exposure, which increase the fan base & thus increases the paying customer base. This goes the same for any film, TV show, music etc.

  • what a muppet in plain Irish!

  • If you like what Presidential Candidate Buddy Roemer said against SOPA. I hope you can support him for President. He is running on the GOP primary. He also running for the American Elect Ticket. Look up Buddy Roemer on Facebook. He is a true honest candidate.

  • That girl is strangely attractive.

  • @Sk3elly I see it....She'd be smokin with long hair and if she dressed like a lady instead of a Republican man.

  • Right there, in the first few seconds of the clip, Bill says "Oh good - they stopped it" [SOPA]. He then goes on to speak about piracy. That is not expressing support for SOPA - it's expressing dismay at having his shit 'stolen'. That's a whole 'nother can of worms, and something about which I feel he was mistaken, but let's at least be arguing the correct point here, shall we?

  • Well, your documentary was shit Bill, secondly, people who are against SOPA just want to be able to download stuff for free, come on everyone knows that.

  • Guess what Bill? I did buy your mockumnetary, I liked it, I even recommended it to friends. But having watched this I now think you're a total moron. Pretentious, know-nothing idiot. I just threw my copy of religulous in the trash, I will urge everyone else I know to do the same. I will NEVER buy anything you are affiliated with ever again. I will boycott any person organization that supports anything of this nature, especially the ones who do not remotely understand it. Like you. Fuck you.

  • sooner or later the pigs will walk...

  • The first and most glaring problem with what Bill has to say here is in his first preamble. He didn't read the goddamned bill, he's talking out of his ass based on what he THINKS it means, not what it actually does mean.

  • doesnt it look like everyone to the right of everyone is mouthing their words.. was it all scripted?

  • First of all he didn't necessarily agree to SOPA. Honestly Bill Maher reminds me of Thomas Paine, a rationalist thinker using common sense to speak his mind. Thomas Paine was probably the most important of our founding fathers but gets no credit for actually having the guts to say he wasn't christian. None of our founding fathers were but knew that public reputation is unfortunately very important. Bill Maher please keep talking! Your one of the few patriots out there!

  • Caucasian looting???? black people cant use computers to steal??????? sounds like someone is racist.....

  • @mikelac2 So he puts down white people and your calling him racist? haha your dumb.

  • i am making a game on the unreal Engine, HE HAS NO CLUE! how detrementous that bill is. me and my teams creativity would be so limited just because say a game mechanic (Health Regen) just an example but if that were to be copyrighted somehow, years of work would be out the door

  • @Vondur That makes sense... Let's make the super rich even richer, and those who may not have the $15 - fuck em. From an economic aspect this whole thing is a charade. I'm amazed at the audacity of these rich motherfuckers in their yachts with their hookers and booze and gold n shit...asking for the poor to give in some more. It's fucking pathetic.

I'm not even from the US, here it's abnormal to actually buy something digital. :D PIRACY FOREVER.

  • @Vondur The point is that there is already laws in place to stop piracy. Those laws took down Napster, Limwire, Megaupload etc. SOPA ,and what ever form that it will come back as, wants to circumvent the due process of law and shut down any site (Youtube, Google, etc) that has any copyrighted material (like this video you are watching now) or simply a rogue user on a site that links to some pirate site. We don't need draconian laws to replace the laws that are there.

  • Really Bill? Next time tell the world how much your salary is and just how rich you are before whining about your "documentary" being "stolen". People may steal shit from the internet, but they only steal from the people who are rich already!

  • Well what the fuck did they expect to happen when they moved the formats to a format that computer networks can transmit? Fucking idiots. And besides, its not 'lost' revenue, its lost potential revenue. You don't lose money until you have it!

  • This time, I need to disagree with Bill. Come on... fuck out of here the old man is right

  • I was against SOPA, but when I heard this devastating story about Bill Mahers documentary it totally changed my point of view. I don´t know who I feel more sory about, Bill Maher or the people who watched his stupid cash-o-mentary...

  • If there was no piracy, I wouldn't see his movie. I wouldn't see it, becouse I'm living in very catholic country.

  • @FILMYk4012 excellent point!

  • I watched religilous in theater I paid then I downloaded online to keep it my arsenal.

  • I hate when American guru's, politicans talk about democracy when they dont even know what it means anymore, they have lost touch with people, these copyrights are about revenue,it is not about people,if they can arrest people half way around the world for copyrights, then it is only fair that they too should give up their citizens to when it comes to copyrights abroad, otherwise it will lead to a boycott of facebook and Google.and American corporations around the world,it will be a soar pocket.

  • @Elevationary I might as well be honest here, the United States wants to dominate competition all over the world, food, clothing technology etc,in alliance with china etc,Google and facebook and many other corporations have already began planting themselves in countries as part of this take over,in time to come they will control the information we here, keep your e
