This album is of the most sincerest, honest, purest piece of confessional songwriting ever written, up there with any post-beatles stuff. He sounds worn out, its a true reflection of the early 70s and how they were a hangover from all that was good and bad of the 60s... R.I.P George from a fellow wavertree lad, you were born only 300 yards from my house.
The Beatles were a force of Nature. They showed us that with enough love, you can do just about anything. There are hidden messages and meanings in many of their songs. To find out what they are, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read the section about The Beatles.

God bless George Harrison.Hare.
George is the best in The Beatles, he was so underated as a singer, songwrighter and guitarist he was most defintly on a par with John and Paul in songwrighting terms! this song is my personal favorite of all time <3
this song shows the true colors of the world. We need to change. In the times of poverty and war, we need to trust each other and not worry about the money in our wallets. thumb up if u agree. Beatles forever "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE"- John Lennon, 1968
have'nt heard this for forty years. It was worth the wait.sometimes its nice to know that there is one soul on this earth that feels the way i do.thanx George
@seajayjoonyo yeah but the question is why? bad parenting? poor taste? terrible education? no soul? i honestly cannot stand my generation......im tired of celebrity obsessed culture, piss poor music, ignorance, addictions to phones, addictions to tv, eating too much, eating too little, fake body parts, fake personality, fake life.
@seajayjoonyo Yesterday's Beatles are today's Beiber. Don't kid yourself. He's making movies, he's writing silly pop love songs, he's giving girls heart attacks. Now, give him some credit and hope in 10 years he's writing more like Strawberry Fields than I wanna hold your hand
@arekayvee He's the fad of the decade, like those other fads I would name for you but can't remember. Because they're fads. Jus sayin. The Beatles started as a modest skiffle band and worked hard for fame. Bieber was discovered on Youtube and took the fast track to fame and obtained a staggering hater-to-fan ratio only topped by Rebecca Black. But they'll be forgotten. Do we remember any of the hated pop culture people of the sixties today?
@seajayjoonyo Tons of people hated them from Please Please me to Let it Be. Way more people didn't like them when they were doing things you'd compare with Beiber. Twelve year olds, more like straw man.
@arekayvee The Beatles have gone down in history as evolving music since they first started recording, using their unusual chords and lyrics. Beiber has been criticized downgrading today's music to a lower level. The Beatles' first single: Love Me Do, a number 1 hit an unusual title with unusual chords. Beiber's: Baby, a stereotypical modern pop song that's been and still is gathering staggering amounts of haters since it's recent release.
@arekayvee It wasn't. It was a new style of pop song that because of The Beatles people started doing more of that style, then making it stereotypical. Music used to be more like Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and Little Richard's classic rock 'n' roll and rhythm and blues, both in the US and Liverpool in the UK. The Beatles covered their songs a lot, but The Beatles' and their styles were significantly different.
@seajayjoonyo Seriously. You could say all of that about Justin Beiber, if you adjusted the time. I'm finished, you aren't even trying to make a point. You're just saying the same things over and over
@arekayvee Okay, they started as a pop group. I acknowledge this. The difference is that, well, I prefer the Beatles' particular sound, their style of pop, to that of the modern day.
@seajayjoonyo SHUT THE FUCK UP. YOU ANNY THE FUCK OUT OF ME. DAMN. IF YOU HATE HIM SO MUCH GO FUCKING RANT SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE I'M FUCKING SICK OF IT.
FOR ONE HIS FUCKING NAME IS SPELLED BIEBER
AND TWO THAT WE CAN LISTEN TO JUSTIN AND THE FUCKING BEATLES AT ONCE SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM. THE BEATLES AND JUSTIN BIEBER FANS CAN FUCKING LIKE THIS MUSIC AND BIEBERS MUSIC SO SHUT THE FUCK UP DAMN IT.
Both Lennon and McCartney became puppets of the media... Always had to do duets and compose songs in genres of music they actually didn't really like to play.
Harisson didn't. He did what he wanted to do, and has always remained the same after the breakup of the Beatles. He stayed down to earth and became a wonderful singer, a great lyricist and a genius guitarplayer when he had his solo career. That's why he was and will alway be my favourite Beatle.
Out of all the Beatles, he was the only one that used his fame to grow spiritually. Lennon did a lot on personal introspection, McCartney was all about fame and fortune, Ringo was about being himself no matter what.
I am old now? so I know something; anything? I was 14 when the Beatles came to the USA. They are 10 years older than me. What is old - compared to? If you understand the music then there is no old. This song - "Isn't it a Pity" is not only beautiful musically but also the lyrics are pure poetry. So That's all I have to day about that. It is one of the best statements of the decade.

Emerging from the shadows of John and Paul with evocative songs, George showed he was their equal. Whether or not they knew how brilliant he was, one thing is sure: with a little help from his friends, he recorded a life-affirming masterpiece.
Great B side to "My Sweet Lord". This song is one of my favorites from George Harrison. He had a great voice and was one hell of a guitar player. 3 people don't know good music. RIP George.
@1962drob Ditto! This song and What Is Life are my favorite George solo songs. While My Guitar Gently Weeps/Something my fave Harrison-penned Beatle songs. It still blows me away to think that the Beatles rejected this song. George was so right when he claimed that John/Paul were not judging his songs on their merits, but onlhy providing him a token showcase for his music (NOT to exceed his approved allotment of songs per LP). They had so many great songs that each LP could have had 50 songs.
May Sir McCartney forgive us all... But, this was The Man !! George´s tallent was hidden behind Paul´s hungry for fame and glory. However, just listen to the immortal sound of the best one of Fab Four !!!
It is a pity I am so afraid I knew what true love was and it is not with me. I am ever remorseful for the mistakes I have made with Nickie. I have no idea when or where my love will fill me as it once did. This song always makes me feel a bit sad, yes it is a pity, what a beautiful song and what a fool I was and I still am.
@wonderfulvoices I hope you know that Eric Clapton and George Harrison were best friends. And when Patty Boyd married Clapton, George and Eric joked that they were "Husbands-in-Law" :P
They remained great friends, andy George ended up marrying someone eles who loved just as much/even more. Dont hate ony Clapton, I personally dont think Geogre wouldve liked that ;P
This song was about the Break-up of the Beatles and how Lennon & McCartney were bashing eachother in songs. :(
@GarrettTheCanadian This song is about George and Eric. The song about George and Paul is called "Wah Wah".George and Eric were always friends..Took some time for George and Paul to be Friends again. But it happened, when Paul went to see George, and Paul brought a couple of ukuleles,,,I dunno why,but they played together..and became friends again. It was more difficult with John...Paul once went to Dakota.....with guitars. And John said he was not interersted-
The Beatles NEVER would have released this song. Wouldn't have given it a thought. Such a wonderful song. Not blaming the Beatles, per se. I'll attribute it to the producers.
By the way...this is Ringo on drums...amazing.

RIP George.
1962drob 1 year ago
@1962drob Ditto! This song and What Is Life are my favorite George solo songs. While My Guitar Gently Weeps/Something my fave Harrison-penned Beatle songs. It still blows me away to think that the Beatles rejected this song. George was so right when he claimed that John/Paul were not judging his songs on their merits, but onlhy providing him a token showcase for his music (NOT to exceed his approved allotment of songs per LP). They had so many great songs that each LP could have had 50 songs.

Isn't it a titty
Now, isn't it a shame
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a titty

May Sir McCartney forgive us all... But, this was The Man !! George´s tallent was hidden behind Paul´s hungry for fame and glory. However, just listen to the immortal sound of the best one of Fab Four !!!

It is a pity I am so afraid I knew what true love was and it is not with me. I am ever remorseful for the mistakes I have made with Nickie. I have no idea when or where my love will fill me as it once did. This song always makes me feel a bit sad, yes it is a pity, what a beautiful song and what a fool I was and I still am.

I told George's older sister, Louise, he was by far my favorite Beatle. She agreed.

How we take each other's love.....yes he should know that, Eric Clapton came to him one day and said: Can I marry your wife. Patty Boyd.
When I heard that I threw all the Clapton music and DVDs out into the bin

@wonderfulvoices I hope you know that Eric Clapton and George Harrison were best friends. And when Patty Boyd married Clapton, George and Eric joked that they were "Husbands-in-Law" :P
They remained great friends, andy George ended up marrying someone eles who loved just as much/even more. Dont hate ony Clapton, I personally dont think Geogre wouldve liked that ;P
This song was about the Break-up of the Beatles and how Lennon & McCartney were bashing eachother in songs. :(

@GarrettTheCanadian Agreed. That whole thing was their own business .. no need to react to Clapton based on something that isn't any of our business.
Listening to any of the songs on this album (or really any George solo material) always manages to center me. So great.

And John said he was not interersted-

moreover when Clapton told to Goerges his love for Patt, Goerges told him you can have her, and I'll have your girlfriend.
