great video man, as well with your other vid. i like the style of well-recorded voice over the flight vid, very easy to understand.
i like to fly foamies that are fairly 3D capable, can this thing do ANY 3D? i figured you would be the one to ask since you seem to have a great understanding of the forces and factors involved with a good 3D airframe!
@incubrian Thanks for the kind words. I'm doing my best to give the best quality videos I can considering I am a one man show with a cheap camera! I wouldn't call this plane 3D capable but it is fast and fun. It can flick and roll really fast but doesn't have the precision and wing loading to be a true 3D plane. Check out the HK Galaxy for an awesome foamy. I'm testing now and should have a review up really soon. I love it so far. SOOOO SLOWWWW! take care
Well partly on the strength of your review I bought one of these :-)
So you weren't kidding about the aileron servo! I made the mistake of doing the maiden with the stock setup, and between the weak servo and the *really* sticky plastic guides for the aileron control rods, it barely survived to fly another day! But one HXT900 later (no problem fitting a 9g servo) it is a super little plane, so thanks for the positive review!
@bluefisherking Right on man! I'm glad to hear that you're having fun with the little yak. Let me know if you have anymore questions and stay tuned for more videos to come!
Great reviews! I'm looking at the Hobby King P-51D Mustang Plug-n-Fly (PRODUCT ID: AT-P51D)...any chance you'll be reviewing that? I'm particularly interested to see if a larger battery will fit, I have several 1800 and 2200 mah packs.
@R0beert0 I should be getting a review for HK's huge epo mustang done here in less then one week. The weather has been a bit nasty to maden. I'll see about the little p-51. Im thinking a 1800mah will be way too heavy tho. its about the same size of my spitfire and I wouldn't go more then about 1500mah.
thanks so much for making this video. I got mine this afternoon and i plan on flying mine in the morning. I have some 3s 1000mah and 2s 1000mah but i think ill cut some foam out and mount the 3s straight up. Ill let you know how it goes mate.
@stalyoni mate i got a chance to take my plane out this afternoon. First flight was about 10 secs and straight into the ground. I replaced the prop and went back down the park and tried again. I adjusted the elevator trim so it would climb a little on take off. I was able to fly it for about 3mins. I had the rates at 50% (all) and my expo on 50% for the elev and aler and the rudder was 60%. I found that i had very little control over the alerion at all. I crashed again. What prop is best?
@stalyoni btw i was running a turnigy 3s 1000mah lipo and it was pushed as far as it could go in the battery mount. WOW its fast. It was stalling into the turns though. I have a hxt500 servo on the way for the alerions. Hopefully i can get it fixed before the weekend. What prop is best mate without modding it. I live in Australia. :)
@stalyoni Bummer on the crashes. As you can see I went through the same thing at first. I had the best results using a cut down 11x4.7. These props are normally used on 3d type profiles but aside from a bit of torque rolling it worked well. Cut one of these down to 8.5 inches or 215mm. It will make a slightly stronger prop with out blowing your ESC. Try putting more weight in the nose too. Good luck and let me know if you need any help. It's a really fun plane once you get the set up right.
Hey I know this vid is old,..but was wondering since its a yak 54, u ever considered using 2 nano servos for ea of the ailerons for better control?

Hi, Im ordering this plane, keen as :), what spinner did you use for the 2 bladed props? Good videos too, easy and enjoyable to watch!

Hi, great videos.
I just ordered this plane. I'm new at this. But I just want to make sure, so you went from a 3 blade prop to a 2 blade? Thanks

I have this plane too. I only did some ground motor tests and now the motor loosen.
The motor can I move a bit forward and backward, just by hand : -(( . How can I resolve this problem so I can fly?
