It's surprising that word hell was used in this cartoon. Considering the censorship at this time which forbabe the use of such words for movie titles.
Simpfann I saw the color version of this cartoon and you were right, certain scenes from that one are missing. But in this black and white version certain are also missing like volcano burping for example when the eagle drops Prohibition into it.
I'm glad I looked for this. The censoring in the version I have (MASQUERADE HOLIDAY) is odd -- trying to cover up who PROHIBITION was and selected references to hell and the devil. Great to see this one, which seems nearly complete -- for some reason, though, they amputated the belches from Rasputin and Cerberus! (Man, those guys really hated "Mr. Prohibition!)
Thank you for posting this version of the cartoon. I had heard through the grapevine that a more complete copy of this cartoon called "Vulcan Entertains" was owened by someone in the U. K. I take it that you possibly are that someone. Thanks again!
It's a shame that this cartoon is so damaged.
The music score is brilliant. really a shame.

Speaking of censoring 4:57 was kind of explicit.

1:53 Simon LaGree and Dr. Jeckle & Mr. Hyde were ficticious characters.

@Madhatter1903 Two bad this cartoon wasn't made 20 years later and Wllie could've seen Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin in Hell-lol.

I have this very same cartoon on dvd from the UB IWERKS COLLECTORS EDITION VOL. 2. Only it's in color not black and white.
67nairb 2 years ago
@67nairb It's not "the very same one" exactly- this version contains about a minute and a half of footage not found in the color version.

@MrKipW Not to the mention that the scene involving the cerberus' house that reads "Hell Hound" has been amputated as well!

@darkhyena He must've been a real tyrant to be in Hell, but I don't think too many people have heard of him to be in a cartoon.

I also find it funny that this cartoon celebrates the end of prohibition by sending the personification of it to hell.

Thanks. I was wondering what the more complete version of this was like. I've only seen the version that was on the Image DVD.

Thanks for posting. I've wanted to see the more complete VULCAN ENTERTAINS.
