  • I got adventure island 3 a while back at a flea market for like 50 US cents. The casing was cracked and the contacts were corroded, they looked kind of green. What I did was to clean as best as I could the contacts and then using A LITTLE very fine abrasive paste polished them with the dremel soft disc thingie (my english is not that good) very carefully. It worked like a charm.

  • Are you sure I should use a pencil eraser to clean the game chip? Please respond. Thank you!

  • @ToysNoiz yes, i assure you its perfect

  • I use this method for all my games now.

  • cutips? fucking jagoffs

  • I find the Blue WD-40 is that works ?

  • The pencil, and the magic eraser were the best tips here. Thanks, there were a few games giving me trouble, but now I can play them all.

  • Where do you get the gaming bit or screw driver?

  • Great video I usually just use alcohol and q-tip and Whats the name of the song...?

  • Had to mute the video. Wtf man, total clash of video and music. Should have played some nes game music.

  • do you really need to clean the outside of the cartridge to get it to work?

  • well i 4 one enjoyed the music

  • really? why do you people care so much about the music? obviously we all came here to learn how to clean nes cartridges, not listen to a song.

  • The song sucks so... thumbs down for your video.

  • hes cleaning at a incredible rate of speed

  • I use 1500 Grit sand paper to clean the contacts comes out pretty good.

  • oh! u opened cartridge by using a flat-head screwdriver!

i remember some cartridges had screws with "inverted-torx pozidriv" headz, am i right or my memories are corrupted by time?

  • Damn this is the most complete video, you clean the games so fast that for a second I wish that I can clean my games as fast as you xD

  • wow.. really worked (on my snes) though main purpose i used it for was for the case

left the cartridges looking brand new =D!

    thanks a lot

  • like new, maybe you could paint som grey on the warning sticker so it looks better

  • Magic Eraser > sponge

  • Couldn't watch the video thanks to the horrible choice of music.

  • @CirrusBluesummers youre welcome.

  • @CirrusBluesummers I didn't like the music either, but just mute the video you fucking retard.

  • @CirrusBluesummers lol, just do what I did and press Mute.

  • @CirrusBluesummers It's called the mute button...... Your Welcome.

  • @CirrusBluesummers you can adjust the volume on your computer.

  • thank you \(^ώ^)/

  • well i use windex which is pretty much window cleaner and it does the same if you where using rubbing alcohol but for some reason i have never been able to get color dream games to work on my nes

  • Thanks, great video!

  • well if you do it this way, you'll need to rinse off the contacts (q-tip w/ water) at least twice. if you don't you'll leave some alcohol residue on them and over time it will eat away the contacts .some people deny this because it doesn't happen over night but it will happen if you leave residue especially if you clean it multiple times without rinsing.

  • @DarkAvatar1313 over kill much? the window cleaner doesnt have alcohol... and ive yet to see a 25 year old coroded contact.

  • @wesgrosscustoms

most do, they don't have to put all the ingredients on the bottle but they have put them on the Osha safety reports, For example Windex contains Butoxyethanol, Ethylene glycol hexyl ether, and Isopropyl Alcohol. As far as corroded contacts, I just had to return a copy of Castlevania because of one (the game was otherwise clean so it was most likely due to alcohol or some other solvent). I've seen a few other over the years as well.

  • @wesgrosscustoms Cool video.

  • @DarkAvatar1313 water fucks up the cartridge too ... and to what i read in the ingridients glass cleaner contains isopropyl alcohol ,grase cutting solvent, amonia, surfactant and colorant ... and if you read in the back of the cartridge it says do not clean with solvents so i guess use neither

  • where do you get the screw driver to open the cartridges??

  • @greatballzoffire1990 i made it myself actually

  • @wesgrosscustoms advice on how to make one?

  • @greatballzoffire1990 welli made a video on how to do it, its over a year old, so look far down the list if its still up my good sir.

  • who the fuck hit the dislike button? this is a great video. very helpful.

  • wow, you really show us how to clean the catridge

  • Nice background song.

  • what is the name of this song?

  • I just got my 4.5 & 3.8 Bits.

I've cleaned all of my cartridge games, but since I opened them up It is hard to believe how dirty game cartridges get inside.

  • @Riddler95 i couldnt believe it too, how i clean my carts it q tips and water, seriously you dont need any special stuff to clean the contacts

  • You use water on your games?

  • @Riddler95 nooo, you dampen the q tip, then rub it along the contacts (that connect to the 72 pin) while in the case and then dry the contacts with another q tip, i dont submerge my nes games in water, that would kill it... may make a vid showing how i do it :)

  • @mclmatty lol thanks for covering that for me, i was too lazy to say that!

  • nice video. but are u sure the label wont come off of the game? i want to do it but im scared the label will come off or my game wont play. i have to do it to about 75 of my nes games

  • how often should you clean them???

  • I found that Weiman's Cooktop cleaner is the easiest way to effortlessly remove contact corrosion/insertion marks/pepsi spilled from 1987. Weiman's and Q-tips will get your contacts blinging.

  • lol thats cool bro, there are hundreds of methods to get the same perfect effect, although using a pencil works REALLLYYYY WELL lol

  • Thank you so much for this video, I have a couple cartridges that I have been trying to clean fo years. 5 Stars!!!

  • awesome! if i helped in any way, im glad that i could man!

  • Why does everyone feel the need to have their videos have an angry gangsta rap soundtrack that's completely unnecessary? Wouldn't it just be easier and more sensible to just narrate the video instead? That way you don't have the text getting in the way of the demonstration and disappearing before we finish reading. Not trying to be a dick, I appreciate the cleaning tips, just confused as to why everyone does this.

  • pause the video if need be... i decline your clerity on not being a dick.. i make my videos how i want them, and the music is very up beat, it grabs peoples attention.

  • dude that was a great video subscribe and 5 stars :)

  • thanks bro, that means alot to me

  • Just bought a good old nes and a bunch of games. And of course it's giving me a hard time. Som im buying a new connector for the console. So thanks for the cleaning cartridges tips man.

  • haha awesome! good luck with that connector! you gonna ebay that shit or what?

  • No dude i'm collecting my gaming childhood back :)

  • lol yeah thats what im doing.. but i meant are you gonna buy the connector off ebay?

  • Nah i got it from another website here in Sweden

  • SWEDEN? lol damn dude.. did you have nes or was it that pal famicom stuff?

  • Nah we had Nes. Wasn't Famicom just in Japan?

  • i believe it was in europe too?

  • I'm not sure but i don't think so. I could be wrong though

  • @wesgrosscustoms Nope, Famicom was Japan only.

  • no justi n japan

  • @wesgrosscustoms im from uk, but still not sure about that one, i think it was just japan :)

  • @wesgrosscustoms nono europe only got nes ,

  • @Leoooonard us had the nes too

  • @bmarshmellow15222 i was talking about the famicom not being in europe but in japan

  • good video man

  • yoo**

  • you man... i got you one of those sampler bang pow boom cds unopened. figured id let ya know.

  • aight dude, hit me up on myspace ill give you the address home boy

  • Cool I didn't know of this way =)

BTW what's the name of that song?

  • the name of the song is verbal assassins, but its a group my homie was in, nothing main stream or downloadable

  • Damn that's tight. You should ask them permission to put the whole song in a lyrics video. I'd download it =)

  • Epic video man. Loved this. I do mine slightly different but your process is almost exactly like mine. Down to the eraser on the contacts bit LOL. Nicely done man!

  • haha thanks man, took me 15 mins to shoot the video, a couple hours to edit it all, just for this three minute vid... wow

  • Great video bro , now all I have to do is do that 500 times and ill there lol

  • lol god damn dude, that would take a couple weeks, might as well get the wife and or gf to help out

  • Cool man need to try that on my old games

  • haha yeah, some people ask me why i clean them as if it was pointless, i like games to work everytime i put them in

  • i wouldnt use glass cleaner on the contacts

  • glass cleaner is perfectly safe my friend, and as long as you dont saturate it, i dont see a problem, thanks for the comment brother

  • Awesome tip yo, that shit looks brand new!

  • haha yeah it kind of does, thats what i love most about getting old games, restoring them to look new

  • thanks dvd lol

  • Awsome Video! I am reely sorry the other Comment got deleated

  • Great vid there. I think I got the same toothbrush or at least used to have it.

  • haha ive had that one for years man, it use to be the brush i cleaned my shoes with

  • This is a great video man!

Had to favorite and give ya 5stars on this one

  • lol thanks man, i appriciate it

  • Awsome Video!

  • The tricks of the trade right there. I have been down with those methods plus a few of my own for a good 7 years. This vid is best for the young dudes starting out into retro collecting. Dropped some knowledge on them, lol. 5 stars.

  • lol fuck yeah man...hopefully i can help some one out there, even though i know people make alot of vids like this, its my own version of it lol thanks

  • Maybe I should do my method sometime. Need to get game bits first though. I don't have a dremel or else I would try to make my own. Thinking about doing it as a future video.

  • well dude, if you want ill make you some and send them to you free of charge man, if you make that video make it a response to this one

  • Yeah bro that would be great. Of course I would do a response to this vid. Thanks for the offer.

  • no prob man, let me see what i can get together, ill prolly send you two drivers, one for taking abour snes, n64, and gamecubes, then one that takes apart the games

  • I know there are 2 sizes. Not sure the exact measurements but like you said, one is for systems and one is for games. I used to just do the pen trick when I needed to open something up,lol.

  • the pen trick?

  • Yeah, you melt a bic pen with the ink part taken out. Using a lighter to melt the plastic then shove it in the screw part of a game or console and let it harden. It will grip it and sometimes work ok enough to get a few screws out.

  • lol oh okay, i tried to do that with some solder, didnt work too good lol!
