Got mine from nova in taipei a few weeks ago and back in melbourne now. I noticed that my gps worked better with honeycomb than with ics. and i also get better gps reception here in melbourne than in taipei which is quite strange O_o
its new version transformer prime 700t which has another backcover and gps signal is good. this version has 1920x1200 display and android 4.0 + 2 Mpix camera in frontside.
@steliospitsillides wow, that's a new one. Android Fanboys are calling me Apple Fanboy, Apple iSheeps are calling me Android Fanboy and now i am getting called Sammy Fanboy by an angry ASUS user. Cute :)
I got lucky and bought one today. Mine easily picked up 13 within 10 or so seconds. Lucky maybe? Btw this tablet i is a,beast! Hands down best on the market currently.
But you can clearly see, although the Asus finds some satellites, the reception is way weaker (only yellow and orange bars vs. many green ones on the other tablets).
You're such a fanboys. Theres clearly a flaw with the GPS. And yes, I would use the GPS and the rare camera of a 10' tablet if I had enough money to buy one.
I had problems with my GPS, getting a lock took at least 4 to 5 minutes - I changed cellphone networks and now my GPS takes 20 to 30 seconds to get a lock. Could the strength of a cellular network affect the performance of a phone's GPS antenna?
@moochincrawdad It could but not directly. Maybe your data connections was faster, so the A-GPS (assisted GPS) data was downloaded faster and the fix could be established faster.
Are you aware there is a solar flare event happening now.
I guess you are comparing three units so if one works then the others should be able to meet, but there could be a secondary issues with interference which would need to be another measure.
ужасно asus

so what is the actual problem? what makes it so slow? does it always need so much time? does it always get the satellites?

@SpizdiGonzales the aluminum back plate on the prime is interfering the gps signal
maQsv 1 month ago
Yeah I have the same problem. It takes like 1-2 min to find some satellites but when it does, a ton just comes in.

I didn't know Tablets had an intergrated GPS into it, does it uses internet data? or does it just use the satellites?
MrVilerfox 1 month ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@MrVilerfox of course it uses the satellites

@minipcpro But that doesn't answer my other question, does it use internet data?
MrVilerfox 1 month ago
@MrVilerfox Optional on android.
a) Agps can help gps fix, needs connection
b) Google location Service, but i dont think its used by gps signal test tools.

it was quite funny at the end, but if u have given the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Sony S more time they probably would have also found more sattelites

@lightstorm66 they were switched on in my bags running the GPS App. The Prime is still way too slow

This is good for walking but what about car navigation? Get into taxi and test it out. That would be great. Thanks!
