  • Fantastic and menacing soundtrack!

  • To me this song IS Batman. Every time I open a comic, this rings through my mind. Why is Nolan not putting this in his movies? That's worse than the transformers movies not having the 'Robots in Disguise' theme!

  • I was 12 when is saw this in the theater at 0:43 i had goosebumbs the music and everthing!!

  • this is how batman is meant to be. dark, serious and a little bit scary sometimes

  • this movie gave me a strange feelin when i was a kid =)

steel remember my favorite hero character was Batman ,

  • Burton was caned. WB wanted Keaton to play batman again but he refused to do it because he wanted Burton at the helm. WB pretty much said to Michael Keaton, fine name your salary, and Keaton said it wasn't a matter of money. He didn't like the direction. Actors who care more about the movie than large sums of cash are what i call devoted actors.

  • @Ryoten27

Micheal Keaton fucking rules, he deserves more credit as an actor an for not selling himself out. He was both the original ''Batman'' an ''Beetlejuice'' those movies rocked the 90's.

  • sOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SURREALIST

  • GREAT INTRO

  • I first saw Bale and thought his voice was silly but I like him; I saw Keaton= mind blown!

  • First time I saw this film i was like 5 years old...now Im almost 21, and still get the chills from opening theme

  • Burtons batman SHITS on Schumachers, idk why the fuck they got rid of Burton and Keaton.

  • @Two27Face warner bros wasnt happy with it and wanted it more child friendly

  • @Seafordshadow Well, at least somebody slapped their bitch asses and green lit the Nolan series.

  • @Seafordshadow Back the Schumachers day, i bet it gived US comic book a bad name...

  • @Seafordshadow not all movies should be child friendly :( the movies now are even more violent:(((

  • @Seafordshadow Are you serious??? This is the best Batman movie, alongside Batman (1989).

I bet that's one decision Warner Bros have been kicking themselves about ever since.

  • @Seafordshadow Fuck Warner Brothers!

  • @Seafordshadow Fuck Warner Brothers!

  • @Two27Face they said the films were getting to dark burton had plans of making another one. so thats why we had the god awful batman forever and batman and robin with fucking george clooney.

  • When I was a kid and I saw this movie I was scared about this scene. So I was happy that Joel Schumacher make Batman more kind friendly, but now I love this scene. I think Michael Keaton is the best Batman, better than Christian Bale but I also love Batman Forever thanks for Jim Carrey.

  • This was the last good live-action Batman movie before Batman Begins and Dark Knight, until then we had Mask of the Phantasm and the animated movies to wash away the taste of Schumacher.

I was 11 when i saw this in theaters 4 times and had the merchandise plus watched the animated show religiously.

  • gives me the chills everytime...absolutely amazing piece of music!!

  • In my opinion, Tim Burton made the only two good 90's era Batman movies. I was never a fan of the 60's TV show or even the Robin character. I also dislike Val Kilmer and George Clooney. When I think of Batman I think of Michael Keation as "Bruce Wayne" and Michael Gough (who sadly passed away this year) as "Alfred".

  • @bluejay55118 you're not the only one. I absolutely hate cloony as batman and everything Joel did with batman

  • Kevin conroy has the ultimate bruce/batman voice. keaton is good for the live action stuff though. bale trys to damn hard

  • @chainer211 Every movie's gotta have at least one silly moment. Bale was it.

  • 0 : 43 amazing music the bats amazing

  • I would love to have seen a third Keaton film!

  • I still get chills down my spine when the title scrolls out on the screen with the bats flying through it.

  • @KidI3RiTiSH

any thoughts on Kevin Conroy as Batman and the animated show?

  • This was my favorite Batman score out of all the movies.

  • honestly i think keaton was too "little" to be batman. physically, because Batman was supposed to be a human specimen near perfection, and he just seems too quirky for me

  • I think Burton and Elfman need to get together and make the new Spawn movie.

  • my best tim burton film!

  • christopher walken needed more cowbell in this movie.

  • Ok so nolans films are real and gritty and up to date, but the burton films had the feel mood music, they are truly incredible for 89-92. If we could mash burtons with nolans, with a small touch of schumacher (not much). I think you would have the best batman ever made

  • Batman Returns is my favourite one!

  • Best decision Keaton made was leaving after Returns.. Batman and Robin.. need I say more?!

  • @399wnka because keaton is a pimp, hes the best batman ever, he knows joel is a terrible director he didint want to deal with no gay homo director thats gunna use gay lights and lighter kid friendly gay shit. Keaton wanted to stay in the darker tone with Burtons direction.

  • @Two27Face

    What about Kevin Conroy?

  • @Johnlindsey289 hes good for his VOICE. there two different things man. one is a on screen film (keaton) and one is just for his voice (conroy) and they both did very well.

  • I play Arkham City while listening to this makes the Hugo Strange intro into the game so epic lol

  • Man imagine The Dark Knight Returns directed by Tim Burton! I can keep dreaming...

  • Danny Elfman captured Batman...! In a single track!

  • Just goes to show, out of every 629 people, 10 are retarded.

  • Why o Why did Tim Burton stop making these? These films were so epic :D

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol I think Warner Bros fired him or something, i also would love to see a Burton's Forever.

However, if there was no schumachers films, we may have not had begins and dark knight, some people will be positive and others negative to this ....could also mean we wouldnt have heath ledgers joker but he stilll could be alive today (who knows)

  • @Seafordshadow actually schumacher or not they would've gotten begins.

  • @Deathclok but would it be the same? isnt the whole reason thy made it dark/reboot was because of scumacher??? im just thinking maybe a different series may've come ,

  • @Seafordshadow Burton wanted to move on which is why he didn't gripe. They would've rebooted it and Nolan would've came in. Even though Oddly Nolan disliked a LOT of the batman concepts which is why he rehashed it so much.

  • @Deathclok really?? aww man, Burton! we coulda had an aweome trilogy!!

  • @Seafordshadow So we have Batman Begins and Dark Knight.

  • @j04370859 .....but theyre not in the same style or anythin as batman and returns were.....

  • @Seafordshadow I thought everyone agreed that the Nolan movies are better.

  • @j04370859 sorry to disappoint, there are mixed opinions, on both this and the first film intro, loads of people declare their love for both series' (but not schumachers) personally i like both series' but i think burtons had the look/style of batman

  • @Deathclok Nolan actually was slated to do a Batman Beyond movie, not Begins. It's a shame he didn't do that. Because then he wouldn't have totally bastardized the Batman villains the way he is doing now.

  • @Shippoyasha Where'd you hear that? Nolan HATES the unrealistic versions of batman, and that is way too unrealistic for him. If he did that he'd probably still bastardize batman beyond villains

  • @Deathclok It's just a very popular rumor that's been around a while. I guess that's why he decided to do Begins after all. That said, I respect his breath of work and all, but he 'ruined' Batman just the same amount as Schumacher to me (His version of Ra's was laughable for me in so many ways). It's just that Schumacher was making an Adam West style Batman when everybody expected something like the Animated Series.

But yeah, I wouldn't expect Nolan to really respect Batman Beyonds much.

  • @Shippoyasha Batman begins or batman beyonds the same thing would happen

  • Comment removed

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol Burton was fired because Batman Returns was too dark. Keaton didn't like Schumacher's new direction with the franchise and he bailed out even though they offered him more money

  • @CYBERDOODY They should have given Burton a chance to "redeem"(note speech marks, for sarcasm) himself. Lets face it, Burton started with two great batman films, i would have been intrested to have seen a third movie.

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol a Keaton/Burton trilogy would have been great!

  • @CYBERDOODY Forever was an OK movie, but the fourth one was way too childish.

  • @DarthSparhawk It was a great comedy spoof!

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol Because Warner Brothers did not care about making awesome Batman movies and only wanted to make money so after this movie they wanted to make sure they coulld sell alot of toys based on the next movie and make it way more kid friendly.

They did not care about making sure the Batman characters and the world would be how they are supposed to be like like in the Tim Burton movies.

  • @CyberLance26 Kid friendly!! LOL If Warner Brothers had even read the comics they would have realised that these films were closer to the real Batman than all the other films made

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol Yea i know but like i said they did not care about making awesome Batman movies they only wanted to makev sure they could sell lots of toys based on the movies.

The more kid friendly the movies are the more kids can see it and want to buy the toys.

Warner Brothers dont care if the movies show Batman and his world the way its supposed to be or not.

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol

Burton began toying with the idea of doing a 3rd film, but on his first pitch to the studio, they said "Tim, you don't have to keep making these. Don't you want to do a smaller movie?" Then he was like "Do you not want me to do another one?" and they were like "Oh, no, no, no. That's not what we mean." And then he said "I know. You don't want me to do another one." In the end, Burton decided to step aside. If anything, Warner Bros just politely tried to talk him out of it. :(

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol hollywood didn't allow him to make them because they think his "version" scares children... lol... have they seen the crap these day... I say Tim was ahead of his time, his film are no doubt masterpieces, he totally own the material...

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol cuz warner bros said it was getting to dark. but in my opinion batman movies are supposed to be dark the name of the city is fucking GOTHem

  • @MrCaptainSmeagol Because pussy-ass studio heads were afraid of these films being too dark.

So Burton was like 'fine, fuck you then' and they went in the opposite direction with Schumacher and look where it got them. Idiots couldn't see a good thing if it raped them in the ass.

  • THE BEST>>>>>> BETMAN RETURN>>>>> lthis is what we felt ....reading the real comics ....this is art so nice and scenario was so fucking cool... so i must said

to new hoolywood go to sleep or READ ....peoples want real shit like this....real chicks and real superhero like this bat....... o man REVOLUTION MUST START

  • F**king EPIC. Good as they are, Nolan's films just can't touch this and the first one.

  • Who thinks Tim Burton should come back and make Batman Beyond into a movie with Michael Keaton as old Bruce!

  • Michael Keaton isn't old enough yet, I think Adam West would be more ideal for being an old Bruce Wayne, and it looks like Chris Nolan will be the most likely candidate to do that Batman Beyond movie.

  • @GothamProtector88 Adam West was great but as a Funny Batman! no one would take him seriously! and Chris Nolan Sucks ASS!!! hes would just try to make it "Realistic" and destroy it!

  • @Morbid88 seria genial que lo hicieran para mi es el mejor batman el mas oscuro!!

  • @Morbid88

What do you think of the animated Batman show?

  • Batman Returns is better than Batman 1989!

  • BATMAN RETURNS VS BATMAN 1989=BATMAN RETURNS

BATMAN FOREVER VS BATMAN AND ROBIN=BATMAN FOREVER

BATMAN BEGINS VS THE DARK KNIGHT= YOU DECIDE

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES=GONNA BE EPIC

  • @SuperSmackdown2010

Batman Begins vs The Dark Knight= Batman Begins...

  • batman the best hero !!

  • i was a little kid and with that movie i expected something similar to the first one..but when i saw the beginning i was pretty freaked out!!!..my god what a cold feeling!

  • I wouldnt say Keaton is the best batman, but Burton have the best touch.

  • @snake5807

    What about Kevin Conroy?

  • does Michael Keaton make movies anymore? the last time I heard from him was when he made that move noise.

  • @SONIC29210 He was in Toy Story 3 as Ken. He was also in The Other Guys. he was also in some mini series I never heard of. He's still in stuff, just check his IMDB page.

  • I love this part and the music was good.

  • God I love how this music just builds then falls ( :11), builds then falls again to a tempo ( :19 ) then as this carries you to the main title it Hits You ( :43 ) . AND ITS LIKE ITS FUCKING ON. ( :46 )

  • I was 7 years old when I saw this, I loved it and it's still one the best movies ever made.

  • Kevin Conroy nuff said

  • Adam west, nuff said

  • Michael Keaton > Christian Bale, as Batman.....it's not even close.

  • Why Clint Eastwood?. The worse thing to do is to bring an actor who never had anything to do with the batman franchise. Imagine a Batman Beyong teaser and they flash a scene where you see Michael Keaton as the older Brunce Wayne. The audience will go insane of excitement. But Clint?...People will be scratching there heads. Btw I love Clint Eastwood and his movies, but not for Batman.

  • @TicketsTheMovie Well, Clint Eastwood kind of has that "aura" or acting style that's somewhat similar to the "future" Batman's personality.

  • Michael keaton should be cast as Bruce Wayne if they decided to make Batman beyond into live action. I mean....I wouldn't go any other way o.O

  • @TicketsTheMovie No, I think Clint Eastwood would be better. That is, if you could convince him to do it.

  • Michael keaton was the best Bruce Wayne by far, but Bale for me is the best Batman ever... I like the dark side he brings to Batman, reminds me of the Batman I grew up watching!

  • Bruce Wayne, why are you dressed up, like Batman?

  • @Teenlego "Because he IS Batman, you moron!" - Catwoman :D

  • @TheGuerramedia "He was"

  • @Teenlego Because he is Batman, you moron

  • if the critics weren't so harsh on the briliantly dark Batman Returns, then both Tim Burton and Michael Keaton wouldn't have left and Batman Forever and Batman & Robin would have been 10x better than how they were. Well... actually I think if Burton had lead productions for Batman Forever, Robin wouldn't have even been in consideration for introcduction and Batgirl in B&R. So B&R wouldn't have existed which would have been a good thing.

  • haha if you ask me for a time burton film this is light and not that dark :P love this movie.

  • Best Batman movie ever..Tim Burton is a genius

  • @Epicnerdgasm i found the dark knight quite confusing, and the microwave weapon is the most pathetic thing ive ever seen (water squirts out of everywhere, but humans stay alive standing next to it? WTF)

  • Christian Bale IS Bruce Wayne. Michael Keaton IS BATMAN. 'Nuff said.

  • michael Keaton = best batman of all time

  • @orihimeaqw yes he is 100@ haha you know whats funny. At the time when Burton chose Keaton, everyone was so pissed and mad and now he is considered the best batman of all time.

  • @orihimeaqw If he doesn't get buried with Batsuit when he passes, I will be mad.

  • EPIC

  • Thumbs up if you think Batman Returns is the best Bat-movies. Personnaly it's the first I've ever seen and I loved it. Actually I still love it, it has this kind of spirit, an amalgam of Burton and Batman Universe. Great movie.

  • Viva Danny Elfman! Dios te bendiga! =) son muy muy lindas tus composiciones! gracias por brindarnos este sano y buen entretenimiento...la música! =)

  • Michael Keaton was the best batman by far , they should have just let Tim Burton done all of the Batman Movies

  • @wildcat200586 He didn't want to do batman movies anymore. they wanted HIM to do them but, i guess he just didn't want to keep repeating himself. which is sad for us, cause they probibly would of been amazing.

  • @ragingharlot13 Michael Keaton was going to be in "Batman Forever"- but he was not happy with the script and told Joel Schumaker it was turning the series into a Saturday morning cartoon. Schumaker told him it was his movie and he could do whatever he wanted- so that made Keaton decide he was not going to do it and he walked off the set not planning to ever come back. Then Schumaker got on the phone and called up Val Kilmer offering him the role- Kilmer accepted it without reading the script.

  • @ragingharlot13 So are you saying the Nolan films weren't amazing?

  • @ragingharlot13 i heard warner bros booted him off because returns was too dark so they made it cheesey and campy

due to tht, keaton left (at least thts wht i heard)

  • @Seafordshadow well Batman is a dark character...Warner is so fucking stupid! Keaton did amazing in his 2 films...KIlmer sucked large nuts and Clooney was ok...Bale is just as good as Keaton especially since he got tips from both Keaton and Clooney...Kilmer was the worst pick as Batman.

  • @maclieberman

    What about Kevin Conroy?

  • This is one of best music score perfomances of Danny Elfman, next to Edward Scissorhands :-)

  • What basterd parents.... poor Oswald. :(

  • the first batman was good this film was dark and everything you want and hope for from tim burton.excellent cast and acting.THEY JUST CANT MAKE THEM LIKE THEY USED TO I THINK.

  • because without michael keaton i dont think anyone will b lookin at this video on youtube if the movie sucked, but it didnt bec of michael keaton

  • Maybe I was too young when I first saw this, because that baby always freaked me out, even though I never saw it. Now it's just funny every time I hear it go, "AHHH AHHH!" right before it hits the sewer.

  • I think this is the best music Danny Elfman has done for any film I've seen of his.

  • this intro reminds me the Sweney Todd's one

  • This movie was dark as dark could get for a batman film, but light years better than the next two

  • @Crimson28 actually I thought batman forever was better than Batman returns (in some ways) at least, a director's cut of batman forever would be better. the deleted scenes of batman forever are really good, they should have been in the movie, it would have made it a lot darker and developed Batman's character more

  • @elcap22 Well I didn't mean to knock Batman Forever. Despite everyones jokes, its actually not that bad. Its kind of good. There were some things wrong, but there were other things it got right. I agree had those scenes been included, we would've gotten a much more mature version of the same movie.

  • Aw what? No Prince music??? (joking)

  • I love how the name unravels before the bats come swooping in.

  • I always loved this opening sequence as a kid. Still one of my favourites...

  • Face it, Tim Burton AND Christopher Nolan know how to make a Batman movie.

  • @fortminor85

    What about Bruce Timm?

  • Danny Elfman is a genius, love the choir voices, give just the right hint of gothic to complement the pictures

  • THIS MUSIC GIVES ME CHILLS!And thats really saying something because im the scaercrow!

  • i whish dat i,the scarecrow was in a tim burton movie1

  • @767scarecrow me too buddy.. me too

  • thanks supporters...finally i feel loved though the terrible death of my parents. Keep following my adventures, even if, i have to admit, these movies are exaggerating a little bit the truth about my super-heroic figure...and i don't have a son, that stupid trick to catch the attention an other time has taken away many interesting possibilities with young and gentle ladies.

    B

  • 00:44

If this movie had been made today, then that shot would have been in 3D. XD

  • I love the way Elfman's score matches the visuals so perfectly. The magnificent, sinister build-up as the camera pulls up to reveal the sewer and then when 'Batman' scrolls onto the screen and the score let's rip- it's electric. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this sequence at the cinema- it was so exciting and it's Elfman's music that makes it what it is.

  • I love this film and love Danny Elfmans score but this is the Batmans theme tune showing the birth of The Penguin which I feel is wrong.

  • Out of all the Batmans (1989-1997), this had the perfect setting.

  • @Pinhead554 I agree with you...i got all of them this one is the best one

  • This Batman and the first Batman movie were the best that were created.

  • @MrDeery @herpderp323 I totally agree with you.

  • The casting in this is amazing!

Michael Keaton - the perfect batman, Christopher walken..the...perfect..evil businessman. Michelle Pfiefer - mmmm, thats one saucy cat I'd like to get my paws on That sexiest catwoman there will ever be! ohh la la! Danny DeVito, short, round, perfect voice and appearance for the penguin. Tim Burton, you are amazing. I wish Time Burton did a movie with scarecrow in it, Burton is the perfect director for such a dark , scary character.

  • I love tim button's batman. because I like his darkness, cold and more meserable as well as he showed batman's sorrow and his pain

  • Wow! This is great quality! Thanks! This is MY favorite Batman movie! Tim Burton rules!

  • as christopher reeves was THE superman, Michael Keaton was THE batman

  • Batman Returns>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Dark Knight

  • I'll probably get alot of hate for this but I just don't like Chtistian Bale as Batman. He does a good job but his voice bugs me way more than it probably should! I know he's trying to hide his identity but that doesnt mean he has to roar at everyone lol XD He should just put the slightest growl ever on his voice like Michael Keaton. It took me a few watches of TDK with subtitles to understand what he was saying I shouldnt have to buy the DVD to understand the main characters big speeches lol.

  • @herpderp323 Actually, I think a lot of people agree with you. Have you seen all the parodies online about his Batman voice?

  • @herpderp323

Kevin Conroy is better than him don't you think?

  • Batman Returns is sort of like Spiderman 3...

Some people love it all their heart and some people love to nip pick this movie to death.

  • Oswald Cobblepot's parents must have been brother and sister if he came out looking like that.

  • People keep talking about how the new films are better, personally I think they're all fantastic, just in different ways.

  • You can tell Burton had more creative control with this film.

  • yes is true burton made an execellent job in this film, but now they only do crap a lot effect 0 imagination, the man is old now this movie has 20 years, so i prefer nolan work now, if burton will make a batman now it will be very disapointed.

  • There's just something mythical about this whole film - probably never being shown on television in my recollection, at least where I live - plus that image of the Batmobile, slowly gliding along the snowy roads of Gotham...

  • BURTONS BATMANS r the best but chris nolans are really good to

I think C BALE has been the best BATMAN then M Keaton
