A lot of people don't like this album, and I can understand why in a way, but for me this is one of Lou Reeds best work, I wish I could have seen the live show that he made of the album a year or two ago, one friend who went and thought he liked Lou, hadn't heard this album before, he said "it was very dark and depressing" I said I tried to tell you BUT...

Oh Jim is another favourite for me, I would like the chords to this to try and play it on my guitar, I'm gonna listen to the Siouxie version.

It has to do with drug abuse and the selfishness of suicide. And while I agree with you that it is silly for someone blessed with so much to wallow in self pity- I have to point out that depression affects not only those in lower social classes, but touches even the highest in status. Not even the wealthiest white male is happy all the time
