  • The songs/ballads back in that time actually told a story, unlike the crap these children make up today. I'm not that old, but I do remember listening to Marty Robbins when I was growing up. Amazingly, we can understand what he is saying, again, unlike the garbage on the radio today. It actually makes sense. I have no clue what some of the songs I listen to these days mean. Unfortunately, my kids sing the words to the songs, but I can only hope they have no idea what they are singing.

  • Like I said before, There is no voice in country like Marty's. I miss you.

  • I thought I didn't like country, but it turns out it is just modern country I don't like. This stuff is good.

  • a legend, with songs that have morals I still live by,....no exceptions

  • This beautiful song makes me very sad...I love this song! rest in peace Marty robbins...

  • i grew up on gunfighter ballads... since '93.

    long live the lonesome life.

  • @PooJunior right on man

  • This is TRUE rock and roll. all the pain, angst, and drive.....

  • This is one of my favorite Marty Robbins tunes. Come to think of it, is there a single song on "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" that isn't absolutely stellar? I think not.

  • Still playing this song on irishcountrymusicradio. Still one of my favourites.

  • They juss nah mek dem like dis anymore!! This man..pure talent....wish dem still made music like this!!

  • @oohrahash honestly, it took 2 minutes to realise what you said. Please, learn how to spell properly.

  • @MrPasolica I could give you an angry reply but thats likely what a internet troll like yourself is looking for. Its not bad spelling, its called Patois and its what we speak in my country. I'm guessing your American....usually Americans are ignorant to other cultures outside their own. Perhaps you could learn to be a little less ignorant..unless sitting behind a computer belittling others is what floats your boat. Have a good Christmas even..hopefully Santa brings you some manners!!

  • @MrPasolica well you got owned...gringo idiota :)

  • marty robbins is a badass!!!!

  • @calitreez you mother fucker.....

  • lol Marty Robbins heart being broken in two bars and killing 3 people in 2 songs.....well done Marty, well done

  • NOOOO HELP SAVE MARTY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT HANG HIM!!!

  • If athletes are such great and powerful Americans, why are they not at war?

  • @justkevy because they're to rich for just kicking a ball

  • @goldmasterchief117 Elvis went to war. Boycott jocks. "Riches are not always to the wise" Ecclesiastes, 9:11

  • @justkevy wait i get the bible referance but what do you mean exactly

  • @justkevy so which theatre of combat did Elvis actually fire in anger?

Elvis made some fine recordings but dont belittle the men and women who faced the enemy on the front line!

  • @justkevy because shooting a basketball or throwing a football isn't anything like shooting a human being. people are cut out for different things, and many are not cut out to kill a man.

  • i had, awsome marty robbins, merle haggard and johnny cash on while playing BATTLEFIELD3 today, my mic was still on and some dude send a message to me with the title: NICE MUSIC.....

not all good music is lost in the current gen,

  • @MrGerardnl That is my game playing playlist :O with some hank added to it :D

  • @DJxSGGxNeo lol , yeah hank williams is awsome ! u play ps3?

  • If only modern country/western music was like THIS...

  • i HEAR A LOT OF RICKY NELSON IN HIS MUSIC NOT A BAD THING IT'S GREATEST MUSIC ON THE PLANET

  • Like all gobshites, he mistakenly came to the conclusion that members of the opposite sex were scarce. If it was today, he'd be screwing instead of hanging.

Might even be a politician who didn't give a fuck who got screwed as long as he/she got a nice pension.

  • Who disliked this song?

  • Love makes us do impulsive stuff that later we regret. This is a biggy!

  • sorry, but she had it coming, he he....Love this song, was on the first ever lp that I had in the mid seventies. The pink album with the gunslinger on it. • I don't think there is anyone that can do better than marty robbins. Marty Robbins and Merle Haggard are my favorite singers of all time. :)

  • whoever does not like marty robbins who was possibly the top voice of his time does not know about music. he need his ears examined

  • I woulda shot her and that good for nothin, too.

  • People like Marty Robbins and The Statler Brothers will forever remain in American history. If you don't like this song, your obviously not an American.

  • Cut my teeth on that ALBUM and this song still resonates

  • I often play this song on irishcountrymusicradio. One of my favourites.

  • We should trade the man who murdered his girl with the guy who disliked this song for the hanging. that would be a perfect trade.

  • WHO THE HELL DARED TO DISLIKE THIS SONG OROKANA NINGEN.

  • Great song by the one and only Marty.

  • one of the best of all time

  • This was the song from the LP "Gunfighting ballards and trail songs" that got my attention and a love for Marty Robbins music.

  • @AdmiralMadox

Funny how we think same about the so-called music sung nowdays in our respective countries......

  • Love all of his songs, search for "Mr. Shorty"

  • We need to feature your channel!!!

  • this is the first time i have heard the original. i watched desertphile's a Capella, not sure if that is the right spelling, cover, and it was amazing. almost as good as this version, if not as good.

  • In a genre plagued by shallow and simplistic songwriting, the lyrics of Marty Robbin's songs really does stand out. And then that haunting voice.

  • its 2010 im 20 years old and i know more country songs from this era than from today. weird right? but still mart robbins is awsome.

  • @TheKrazywhiteboy...... I think it's great that you appreciate the music of years gone by. They don't make music today like they did back then, so no, it's not weird, you just have a good ear for music!

  • @rothhar My dad did the same thing! In fact, this past Father's Day I replaced his Gunfighters Ballads cd with a brand new one, since the old one was so scratched up it couldn't be played anymore. He loved it!

  • @rothhar 'I will forever be thankful to my dad for exposing me to Marty Robbins..'

seriously! my grandmother and father used to pull out these on their A-track player and god my heart grows fonder of those times each day...

  • no one will ever fill marty's shoes.

  • He sang much about hangings!

  • My grandpa used to listen to this, and every time i listen to it i think of him, and how i wish i could have known him better. we would have watched old movies and gone to the theaters, because he was obsessed with cinema, and i am too.

  • Sad lyrics!

  • my dad met him face to face and then was telling me how it was nothing big. If i got to meet mnarty Robbins face to face i would die.

  • @fbiwayne11 your dad was fortunate. i too would have died and gone to heaven.
