The songs/ballads back in that time actually told a story, unlike the crap these children make up today. I'm not that old, but I do remember listening to Marty Robbins when I was growing up. Amazingly, we can understand what he is saying, again, unlike the garbage on the radio today. It actually makes sense. I have no clue what some of the songs I listen to these days mean. Unfortunately, my kids sing the words to the songs, but I can only hope they have no idea what they are singing.

My dad took me and my brother to a Marty Robbins concert when I was 8 years old...We requested Strawberry Roan, which he played for us...but his music takes me back because my dad always sang it with us while we were growing up...Marty has a special place in my life and I actually believe I have learned some things about life through his music
