The bar of the atheism vs. religion debate has been raised by many brilliant responses to the new breed of fundamentalist atheists (well actually, it was pretty high for centuries before modern atheists started caricaturing religion). Let's see how many of them can keep up.

"Fundamentalist atheism"...another instance of applying religious phraseology to atheism. You are either atheist or you are not. Is it up to atheists to "keep up" with these brilliant responses to their caricatures of religion? Maybe it's time for the religious to just STOP, then they'd be no need for anyone to keep up. Stop believing in manmade dogmas & the atheism they created will disappear, just as if they stop believing in God he'll cease to exist. God needs an audience.

Just because you don't like the phrase "fundamentalist atheism" does not make it's use incorrect. Some atheists use it to describe other atheists. If you look into the history of its association with Protestantism, you will find that, in all likelihood, you too misapply the term (if you want to be pedantic).

We are completely different types of people. I would never dream of asking Hindus or Buddhists to give up their beliefs. I embrace and love diversity. Some people cannot handle it.

Dude, unthinking adherence to an ideology can make people do the most terrible things. I fear for LifeofApollos' safety; what with all those crazy atheists out there who will not tolerate questioning of their beliefs.
