  • well that was a boring video, nothing but a dude laying stickers for 4 minutes followed by 30 seconds of a bit of action

  • i want dat bike

  • it looks cool but it stands to look like an Ed Hardy shirt of road bikes.

  • que bien lo acen me encantas esas bicicletas

  • not very pretty.... Are you kidding? I think the designers have done well to think out the box and stray from the natural conventions of painting fast lines on bikes (getting rather old, we've seen it all). Repetition is clearly just an effective graphic element in this situation, It looks good! Of course a bike is going to be a billboard for sponsors, Id be pretty peed off if I was a major sponsor of a team at the most lucrative sporting event in the world and my logo wasn't even on the bike.

  • All those stickers are just adding weight.

  • why has it only got sram force on it?

  • did anyone notice the leopard-trek bikes at 1:36 ? :D

  • Handarbeit, nicht schlecht. ;)

  • @Glatzenhaar3 Ja, nicht schlecht in der Tat ...

  • this is not building a bike - it`s just decorating ;-(

  • got this bike, it's still a very beautiful bike. god fucking expensive. it was 10,000.

  • ive got a 4.7...but boy that looks like a pain in the butt to peel all that//seems an air brush and clear coat out be easier..but im sure thats some how (heavier) than what they are doing here.

  • Dear Santa...

  • more is not better!

  • Looks like 25% of the build is taking off stickers...and for what? So someone on the team can go crash it during this year's TDF. So is life.

  • awesome bike!!! does anyone know the name of the song thats playing?!?!?!

  • @Beefy24X

the first part with bass is “In Your Silence” and the second part with the pulsing keyboard thing is “Soliloquy for the Deaf”

  • awesome bike i wish i had the money to get one

  • uggliest bike ever.

  • i want to buy a bike for a 6 months trip in nature.....i,m 1,90 cm tall( 6 feet)...

what should i know before i choose one?

  • @salvadoraugustus frame size for ur frame gte one around 60cm or more

  • @salvadoraugustus im 6,2" and I chose a 56cm Specialized road bike, fits perfectly...

  • @SoolieProductions

thanks..now i have a good idea on what i will buy

  • @salvadoraugustus Specialized are known for being a bit big though, if you were going for a Trek i'd suggest a 56cm frame if you're 6 feet tall.

  • That's hilarious. The factory builds the frame and sends it off to the builders for clear-coat and details.

  • this reminds me of this awesome lance video search for

    lance armstrong human power

it is the first one with the girl at the start!!

  • This isn't "building the Madone" it's "having fun with stickers." I still want one though...

  • After watching this I think I've decided to not race in the TdF. I could be spending more time riding instead of wasting time with putting stickers on.

  • what a waste of time & money

  • Trek Madone is the best road bike, ever! It far out weighs an RXR or a Dogma.

I will always ride a Madone and so will my son who will one day win the Tour of France on one.

  • even more of a shame when they crash...

  • great craftsman but... Could you stick few more trek signs??:) I am really impressed:)

  • I liked the sticker removal part

  • i am the proud owner of a '06 madone 5.2 aero, the best bike i ever had.

  • not very bad

  • .so forth what I discussed 59 @#$@#$@#$ so forth yesterday computer 46 dollars.

    shoot to the moon

  • Good that the text text didn't say ""worthy of Lance Arnstrong", because that would have meant the bike is too old and too slow to compete.

  • @JanDeluxe78 I'd like to see you in a Tour de France stage at 39 yrs old...

  • so beautiful! im waiting for my 2011 5.2 to come in!!!! so exited!

  • @ecano25 have you got the bike yet? what's it like, I'm hoping to get one too!

  • all that added weight from decals

  • @unitaper they still have to apply lead weight to the bottom of the seat to make put the bikes on the UCI weight limit.

  • @unitaper im sure the paint was much more.

  • not sure that "building" is such a suiting word.. more like painting and taping.

  • It looked great until all the stickers went on. They could have put the Trek logos on the downtube in paint too. I haven't looked at the Project One replica yet, but hopefully the production version isn't be so damn busy.

  • The men who put the trek stickers and everything is awesome!!!!

  • Vaya, tanta tecnología para después llenar el cuadro de pegatinas, . .. . .

  • lol

    Sharpie at 1:07?

    Maybe they missed a spot...

  • lance thats too many decals your adding thatz only gonna slow you down!!

than alberto is gonna beat you again!!

  • mis felicitaciones desde COLOMBIA , BOGOTA yo bsoy aerografista y tambien pinto bicicletas me gustaria compartir mis fotos co ustedes , ?que debo hacer?

  • Tu travail de pro!!!!

  • It's amazing how labor intensive these bikes are in their construction. I always thought that the decals were applied by machine for consistency amongst all models but I guess not. In any case, I don't mind Trek bikes but I ride Specialized.

  • Build

  • now i see why these are so pricy

  • That looks like an awesome job! The bike however is everything that is wrong with ads and heavy branding/product differentiation.

  • Kind of cool to watch a pro bike being built. But if you want to watch the pros help you become a better rider, check out our instructional videos at the Bikeskills Channel on YouTube.

  • they are better in the real!!!

  • must take forever to otka ethose stickers off

  • @TheAliJDShow don't they just get new bikes and leave the stickers on?

  • That bike isn't going to help him against Alberto Contador

  • @AssigmentOfForce "That bike isn't going to help him against Alberto " Maybe not, but his team will - Johan, Levi, and Andreas. Contador gets to work with Vino.

  • Its.. a billboard!

  • siiiiiiiiick!

  • the astana bike was way prettier.

  • Lovely bike, but theres wayyy too much stuff going on!

  • no wonder bikes are so expensive, having people peeling plastic bit off the frame

  • no wonder bikes are so expensive, having people peeling plastic bit off the frame

  • I want to know which is the name of the band, it sounds great....also the video is very cool...

  • Waaayyyyyy too many stickers. The looks of that machine make me not want a Trek.

  • That was a genuine pleasure to watch.

Thank you so much to the poster.

    Wow.

    I WANT ONE SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jesus, that is so HENCH.

  • can i have it

  • Can't wait till TDF 2010

  • Awesome!

  • Wow, art!

  • man thats intense

  • Replace "Building" with "Painting" in the title...

  • So when do they show us the bike being built?

  • Too many stickers. I think it would look much better plain.

  • frame + wheels + components = 2.8 kg; decals = 4kg

    But still pretty ...

  • The bike would look stunning 'naked'.. Way too many stickers on there.. pity....

  • @harmonic12th Still u wouldnt turn one down if they offered u one would u XD

  • @Speedbird103... errrrrr in word, NO!! I don't think you get an ugly Madone. They are stunning bikes. I just like them a little plainer. I think the frames are amazing and just look better without that many stickers. But this is professional sport I guess. Companies pay a fortune to be on there...

  • hay dos cosas que me facinan las bicis y la pc, los demas me va..... linda trekkkk

  • I wouldn't mind riding it...The ride quality is already beautiful.

  • Wow... 4min15 of stickers and painting and 45 seconds of actually building a bike. I think they got their priorities wrong... and way too many stickers.

  • yo la quiero

  • I think it needs more.........stickers!

  • its too loud. the design. i like the simplicity of other bikes. but hey, in the end, its not about the bike.

  • what's the name of the song?

  • In Your Silence and Soliloquy for the Deaf by Rust Belt Sermon....

  • not very pretty, but what's to be expected - it is just a billboard after all - i think they could have squeezed in one more logo - there's 2 square inches left at the end of the top tube

  • @romacki

It looks way better in real life. But, you are right, there is alot of advertising on it.

  • @romacki Thats how cycling is financed

  • @romacki Thats how cycling is financed

  • @romacki dude tht bike looks sick.

  • fugly

  • vinyl graphics with a clear coat over it. . . that's about as advanced as a wheelbarrow

  • @kdo11 it doesnt need to be, they use it on everything from rally cars to computers

  • es perfecta para lance, cantosa y fea de cojones

  • Comment removed

  • That bike is just as FUGLY as the kit.

  • I agree re: the kit. Think TeamSky clinch the battle of the looks.

  • I agree the Team Sky kit and their beautiful Pinarello Dogma proves simple = elegant. My favourite team kit for the last few years has been Caisse d'Epargne, pure class.

My question is why are all of the American Pro Tour teams kits butt ugly now?

  • At least they got the bike right. The kit sucks nuts. Nice job Trek. You even went back to the cylinder seat tube. The bladed one for the previous Madone was not complimentary.

  • tire levers can damage the tube!!!

  • nice bike. Trek Madone's are realy nice to ride!! Just a shame about the Sram gearing. I would rather Shimano Dura Ace DI2. But I guess it's a thing that differs between people.

  • Cool looking bike and build process. Build your skills at the Bikeskills Channel on YouTube. Subscribing enters you to win gear. Click on Bikeskills above.

  • trek bikes really rox

  • Awesome video! Congratulations, 2010 will be a great year! Keep up the good work guys!

  • i wonder how much all those decals weigh...?

  • Now thats one funky as bike, that will definitely stand out in the peleton.

  • All Trek frames come with a lifetime waranty.

Trek prides them selves and the devoted employes with building such a great bike.

Treks project one program saved money and gets you a personalized bike. Ever hear of JIT manufactoring?

  • It's like a friggin bilboard... I like my bikes with a clean look. But I guess beauty is in hte eye of the beholder.

  • @ProfeTa6 i totally agreee. i think it would have been so much sicker if they went with a simple design. like using only a two colors, no fading shit, used only a few "R" symbols. "the shack" i think is cool. but the gray+red looks terrible together.

  • All Trek OCLV bikes are made in the good old USA. Hand made using Hex grade carbon only available in the USA. Not many of the other manufactors make their carbon hi end bikes in the USA. Cannondale was recently bought by Dorrel of Canada and has moved all their manufactoring over to Asia. Start looking for Cannondales in Walmart soon. LOL

Check out the specs on the new Madone 6 series frames. The engineering is amazing.

  • @beachwood25 cannondale would never be in walmart. 98% of production bikes are made over seas. giant makes most of the major companies. they, along with specialized, jamis, and 95% of treks made across the pond aren't in department stores.

  • @beachwood25 and its unfortunate that cdale moved over seas, but they saved 6 million dollars doing it. yes, i am bias cause i am a cdale guy, and i hate treks mainly cause they pride themselves on someone who cheated in the '09 tour (lance)

  • @beachwood25 also, does trek offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on all their frames?

  • A lot of work to make a bike look like the cycling equivalent of a nascar jacket.

  • ...I want that.

  • Shimano please!!

  • You mean to tell me that they have to do that for EVERY riders team bike?!

  • Comment removed

  • Lance's weapon!!!

  • Darn I was hoping they might actually show the bike being built. Not that the painting and decals process isn't interesting but it's not 4 and a half minutes worth of interesting. Get some neat footage of the carbon frame production process in there before the spray job, and more/any footage of the components being bolted on and you're away...

  • I much prefer my specialized tarmac pro.

Just dont like any other frames but theirs. They have a wow factor to them that I love (:

It cost 8k and was worth every cent :D

Soon to upgrade the bars and wheels soon (:

  • so "building" is just paint and decal work?

  • @rhigh100

walmart bikes can never compare to the madone. and a 99 dollar bike from walmart will probably break fairly easily. these bikes range from 4k to 19k and are worth every penny. trying desperatly to save up for one. so close = /

  • maybe 4k just for the frame; when you factor the wheels and components, easily over 10K

  • This is craftsmanship.

  • i watched the whole thing... and i dont even like bikes.. what the heck

  • @Eddyble who doesnt like bikes? you must be ether gay, fat,or just a pussy

  • @Eddyble haha me too

  • awsome........

  • that bike looks amazing.

  • wait... so who makes this bike

  • i wish i got to put stickers on bikes for a living

  • just go to walmart and get a damn bike for 99 bucks.

  • not made out of carbon fiber; the hubs are not ceramic. When you ride a bike 99 bucks and another like that you will see the difference. To put it into perspective, what you're saying is to get a Daewoo instead of Bugatii because they are both the same thing: cars.

  • Wow, meticulous attention to detail. I bought a TREK in 1979 when they only had 3 framesets: Ishiwata, Reynolds 531 and Columbus and either in road race or touring geometry.

Great bikes then, even better now. Will get an OCLV version this year and keep my Olmo ('85) as a garage trainer.

  • look at this too

    watch?v=HgmyfS7SfcA

  • wow cool bike fucken lame sponcer . Who shops at the Shack anymore..

  • Wow, that's such a cool bike. Would love to own one!

  • nice bike, but i still hate radio shack

  • I want custom bike w/ Burger King all over it.

  • Awesome. Nice work guys.

  • the design is "too busy" for my taste :-/ no offense. so many logos!!!

  • Que bicicleton , con esa correra lance armtrong para el proximo tour ......sobrao gana su octavo tour ....larga vida a lance

  • America should build more stuff. We still have the best craftsmen in the world. GO TREK!!!

  • @docbracer1

America should, build a sports bike(motorcycle)

  • Awesome! Proud to ride my Madone even more than ever now!

  • They are not made in china... Trek top bikes are made in Wisconsin.....

  • Although you are correct, that only applies to the very high end pro bikes. Just about every Trek ridden by the average person is made in China

  • Looks great. You should get that guy to redesign the team jersey's.

  • demasiado bueno yo quiero uno para mi jaja!!!

  • Music by Rust Belt Sermon is available on iTunes and at shows.

  • double full credit to the guy doin paintjob!

  • Sick! I love it...I like the downtube stickers Trek has on...in case a rider falls, it still says "Trek" at the bottom/pretty much underneath the bike...great advertisement!!!

  • there is a lot of man hours on one bike I hope they take good care of them on the roads and in races!

  • Comment removed

  • jeez, it's like a pound of decals!

  • Exactly what I was thinking. There's some weight-saving to be had here!

  • these days they have to ADD weight to a bike to make it legal...

  • It is a Decathlon Bike

  • Did you mean "Decal-thlon" Bike?

  • Hahah....nice one!

  • I wonder who makes that bike? Oh I see, TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK TREK.

  • BADASS!!!!!!!!

  • Just. Too. Cool.

Can't wait to see these bad boys during the Amgen Tour of CA.

  • I wonder if Lance will ride one looking like this? I dont think he rode one at all last year that said Astana on it anywhere but this is his team so maybe Radioshack requires it as part of the deal.

  • Just awesome! Love the detail.

  • I wonder what these bikes weigh before trek has to add weight to make them race legal? Amazing they can make bikes less than 15lbs.

  • It's a pro bike, so it's gonna be over the top. This video is incomplete in that it shoes just the painting and graphics - even the build got short shrift. The construction of the frame was left our entirely. Carbon frames - TREK's in particular are more like high tech appliances than classic soulful bikes. Not my cup of tea, but appropriate for the demands of PRO racing. Dug the music - just downloaded an EP by Rust Belt Sermon to check out!

  • Id have to say Specialized make one of the top carbon frames. Even the lower range of their bikes still have the best frames all because of the way they weave the carbon and shape the frame. Streamline, bold and sexy.
