What you see is much more the strobsopic video effects than bouncing. In reality it is running very smooth. There is a spring under the pieze and the ball bearing is nicely following the cam as far as I can see.
One can clearly see the pin under the single cam bouncing (the command for the spark?), you have to put a spring harder, in fact, I would put the piezo directly under the cam that could be done small, fitting only a small plate , metal hinged on one side. On the cam is not good to put the beans, you could put on its side. For the rest seems like a good job

@ Dakota we call them cute because we find them lovely,,,,,,I dont know of the long range reliability of the piezo or some decay in it but for shure you have done a great job here,, thre are some really tiny ignitions for model airplane engines you can use ,,,,,, congrats. ernst.
@DAKOTA56777 It may happen, if you are working in a place where your live is depending on a machine like on a big ship. You spend a lot of efforts in keeping such a huge machine running. But than if the machine is returning your efforts in not letting YOU down during very heavy weather were your life is depending on a running main engine, than "it" becomes a "she", -she cares for You like a mom is caring for her sun in trouble, and yes - you LOVE HER.
@DAKOTA56777 Sure, and a Yorkshire terriër can deliver you rabiës. If you're only interested in getting it your way, just say so, and I'll satisfy that need of yours.
@DAKOTA56777 Why do you have a problem with people that do so? Look, everyone sees it differently, and if you don;t like to call engnes 'cute', nobody tells you to do so. Nevermind.

I demolished the piezo out of a gas lighter.

how would one valve work for a 4 stroke engine
123rcflyer 11 months ago
@123rcflyer
You always need a valve for the intake and one for the exhaust for a 4-stroke engine. It is possible to make the intake valve self-sucking.

nice build ohc engine,
good timing belt solution, very nice way to find out the best timing in making each cam adjustable on the camshaft.
Lol on the gas lighter piezo ignition but a clever idea, hope it will last for a long time.

Still using the first piezo, but the engine doesn't run very often. Estimated some 50 hours since finishing. A new piezo only cost 2.50 Euro.

I don't get why people call machines "cute" it's not a dog it's a mechanical device. Cute is something you use for living things not machines.

@DAKOTA56777 Does the dictionary tell you so?
Skoda130 1 year ago
I never said that the dictionary said so. Is a small car that you called cute still cute if that same car runs you over and your screaming in pain?
DAKOTA56777 1 year ago
@DAKOTA56777 Cars don't do things like that. Drivers do.
And a model engine can hardly be deadly.
Skoda130 1 year ago
Wow quick reply. This engine can very well kill you if the fuel tank were to catch fire and explode.

@DAKOTA56777 Sure, and a Yorkshire terriër can deliver you rabiës. If you're only interested in getting it your way, just say so, and I'll satisfy that need of yours.

I'm not trying to start a fight all I did was say that I think the word cute doesn't go with machines.

Yeah but it's not as bad as yours, as for I said it once I didn't hound the person down for doing so like you are me.
