@JohnMagillM - The Americans did not declare war on Germany until April 6, 1917. There were no Americans in the Christmas Truce of 1914. It was also not just one occurrence: there were unofficial ceasefires all up and down the battle lines. Read 'Silent Night' by Stanley Weintraub if you would like to learn more.
ok no need to be rude and say things like that. It's a beautiful song. Just enjoy it and for once, on a song thats sad and beautiful like this, don't argue. It get's us no where. We're all humans and we all make mistakes.
I remember hearing this song ONCE over the radio many years ago one christmas...and im glad I found it on youtube and heard it again...The Christmas Truce of 1914 is proof that it doesnt matter what race you are or what language you speak... peace can be found if you look beyond the fear and differences... I can only imagine the rest of the world if they did what the American and German forces did that night and put aside their differences... even if its just for a moment...
@ShuZhenKokoro I can see where you are going with your statement. America did not enter WW1 until 1917. Your message is absolutely right, but your history is incorrect. In any case Happy Holidays!

Appreciate the video and the song by Garth Brooks. You put it all together though and is good.

It is a wonderful song, and truly a Christmas miracle. We Americans have much to learn from the Christmas truce of 1914.
