  • Beautiful! It's a shame that they didn't do anything this big when he turned 75 a while back.

  • Seriously, what is with the characters voices back then?

  • what is the name of the singer?

  • 01:16 Grandma Duck!

  • @fernandopventura nevermind grandma! SCROOGE MCDUCK!

  • Holy crap, the March Hare was in Disneyland back then?! O.o Wow..

Anyways, yeah, all the character's voices sounded a bit different.. Well, that is back in the day.

  • YEAH!!!

Don't try to Donald Duck it!

  • love you so much donald

  • when was this filmed and in what year

  • @coolone7771 it was in 1985 or 1984

  • I was in a gift shop in the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World on Saturday night and they were playing this song on the speakers in the store. I got all misty -eyed.

  • I think I'll have to agree with Cayetanini - this made me cry happily too.

Incidentally, this must be the earliest appearance I've seen of the park versions of Scrooge (in his red coat from the comics, no less!) and HD&L, and maybe also the only time they ever had Grandma Duck appear at the parks.

  • I was there in 86 and I was 5 years old. My mom took pictures of the parade but she also took pictures of me as I sat on my dad's shoulders. You can run it like a flip book with my eyes as wide as saucers and mouth hanging open in pure blind amazement as I followed the parade.

  • @greenmotorcar did you meet donald

  • @brb1006 I met him later in the day during a regular character meet. I have loved Disneyland ever since.

  • @greenmotorcar yeah but im just wondering whats with the characters voices back in the 80's at disney world and disneyland especially mickey, minnie, chip n dale, and donald

  • I think the Walt Disney Company has established a tradition among some of its voice actors. For iconic characters such as Donald Duck, the respective voice actors have to choose and train an heir who will continue to portray that character's distinctive voice and personality. For example, Clarence Nash, Donald's first voice actor, personally trained Tony Anselmo to speak in Donald's highly distinctive accent.

  • who is that on the flot with scorge and daisy

  • is that Grandma duck at 1:17?

  • @iscreamer1 Yep, and I was just as surprised to see her in park form as you probably were.

  • @iscreamer1 yes it is

  • "Happy Birthday Donald!"

    "THANKS DICK!"

  • ty bro:P

  • whats the name of the song and the man on the beginning?

  • His name is Dick Van Dyke

  • I remember watching this in 1990 on channel 4 when I was young

  • @madridboy86 Actually, this parade is from 1984 (the second summer I worked at Disneyland)

  • donald is my favorite!! and i reamber when I went my first time and i got my pic with him i was soo happy

  • I was the only person who had a subscription to Donald Duck Comics during my college days at Vassar. A huge educational enhancement... my colleagues teased me a lot, but my image as a colorful cat was very rewarding,

  • You know what? Donald Duck made more cartoons than any other character, even more than Mickey Mouse.

  • o_o'

  • I saw this parade in person, when I was only 5 back in Disney World, when my little brother was only 2 months old!

  • LOVE YOU DONALD !!

you deserve this , we all love you

  • This year will be 74 years. Hopefully next years Treasures series will contain this 50th B day special and finish up all of Donalds classic cartoons!

  • Interestingly, the Treasures line started to release Donald's classic cartoons in mid-2004, around the time that Donald had his 70th birthday! And one of the bonus features, about Clarence Nash, the original voice of Donald, mentioned a snippet of this special, specifically the part with Nash being at Grauman's Chinese Theater in 1984, when Donald put his hand- and web-prints in cement in front of the theater with other stars!

  • AWSOME!
