Clearly one of the greattest voices of our generation. In all my years in radio I always wondered why she wasn't a mega-star like Ella, Judy, Barbra, Celine and others of that genre'. Truly a gifted artist and musician. Can listen to her for hours.

I saw Shirley at Town Hall years ago, in New York City, and loved her. She had a wonderfully commanding presence and a powerful voice. Judy Garland could wail the blues, as she did in A Star Is Born, when she sang The Man That Got Away, but Shirley overwhelms even Judy as Dame Bassey sings Born To Lose, which I recently found here .
