Whoa..this was actually filmed by someone and not the movie tape version! cool! The pirate king is brilliant in this. We're doing this musical this coming school year (I'm a sister -_-)
Which one? There's 2 now... there's the one with Jon English (Purple Pants Pirate King), which is very funny, but not very traditional, but has lots of energy. And there's the recent Australia Tour where the Pirate King is Jack Sparrow, and its more traditional.
The recent one is very good, more traditional orchestrations etc, but the Jon English one, although corny in some parts, was good energetic fun! He was a good Pirate King! :)
I don't like the Jon English one, they went overboard in trying to make it funny, and it just was silly. It's funny enough without changing it a heap, I feel like my intelligence is being insulted. The Anthony Warlow on (Jack Sparrow) is very good though.
George Rose is THE MODERN MAJOR GENERAL!!!

Who plays Frederic in this production? He's gorgeous!

I'm thinking it's Rex Smith. That's the one I have on my LP recording.
I had a girlfriend once who wanted to bear Rex Smith's children.

Does anyone have the Kevin Kline version? Because if you do, could you put up some things? Great singing by the way!!

I liked it, it was funny.

I think I didn't like it because I was use to the Kline version. I think I need to warch it again, I may like it more after that.

I have watched the Australian version about 50 times now.

Quinto played the General in this play once. Got an award for it aswell...

Wow! Really?
CrayfordDresden 4 years ago
Yep. He got the Gene Kelly award. I think it was when he was at Uni. I'd love to see it, but I don't think you can. He's got a low baritone *sigh*
Albion19 4 years ago
He must have really mastered the role... or they were in awe that he could even remember the lyrics.

The man comes across as very intelligent, so I'm not surprised that he could remember. He's talented!
