You can't compare Rudy to Nathan, its like comparing apples to oranges. Rudy is not Nathan's replacement, Rudy is simply a new character. If you want my opinion though, I like Rudy better then Nathan. His power is better also, I think, because Nathan was sort of a Mary Sue, having the best power of the group and being the lead. But Rudy's power makes him much more human, and unique if you ask me.

Despite apparently originally being billed as "Nathan's replacement", Rudy is clearly differentiated so far from Nathan that, despite being cast as the main funnyman, he's still a great character. His split-personality power has made for some inspired exchanges between his two selves. He's a happy-go-lucky guy, with an interesting, amusing and backstory, lending itself towards the reason for his insecurity manifested in his other side. And his lines and flexible facial expressions are hilarious.

i like rudy but come on, his funny lines, were made for nathan. i cant say i like him better than nathan, because everything that is hilarious about rudy, is because of a script which was written for nathan young !!! misfits producers didn't want robert to leave, so they did rudys character, but it is obvious they had to use part of that script. that's why i think they're very similar.

Rudy was never a replacement, even the creator of the show said so. He's an addition for a missing character. Rudy is Rudy, Nathan is Nathan, neither can be replaced, it just can't happen. With that said, I also find Nathan to be the life of the old Misfits (s1-2). The difference between the two is that Nathan was more of a lead character and Rudy was more of a side character.

I don't really see the Rudy character as a replacement for Nathan. In my opinion he is just good addition to the group, especially since Nathan didn't die and is currently in jail. If Nathan returns in a future series, his interactions with Rudy would be epic and would definitely make the show even better comically. Since they are both part of the same group, they will either be great friends or hilarious frenemies.
