  • Jim Rockford's (repainted) trailer from The Rockford Files is right there at the beginning of this video.

  • Jim Varney as Evan Earp made this show. I remember it from years ago, it wasn't bad but he was the best thing in it.

  • Around the time this show came out, and John Wayne had died I saw Everett on the Mike Douglas show, Everett said to Douglas "now that John Wayne is dead, I am the last real man in hollywood", I never cared much for Everett before, but his ego driven statement has always shown what kind of a person he was, on another show I watched as he bragged about driving around drunk, the last time I saw him on Tv he was telling about his past as a alcoholic.

  • I wondered why Steven J. Cannell always used GMC Trucks in his shows LOL

  • I'm here because of Jim Varney. I love Stephen J. Cannell's book, 'Final Victim' though. I never got to see this show on t.v.

  • I loved this show when I was a kid.

  • "My mind is a national resource..." Oh, I did love this show!

  • brings back memories. hazy as they are. i dont suppose you have the opening to Richie Brockleman Private Eye by any chance? it was a short-lived spon-offf of the Rockford files.

starred a young Dennis Dugan best known now as a director of bad adam sandler movies.

  • I saw that the man who plays Ernest on Hey Vern it's Ernest and the Ernest movies is on here. I did not get to see if he was called Ernest on this show too.

  • @britfrenir No, he wasn't called Ernest in this movie. Your talking about the late Jim Varney.

  • I remember the promo for this said, The Rousters is gonna sink the love boat".

  • @britfrenir hahaha i thought i was the only one that remembered that. well done!

  • Ditto for me. I can only find a DVD and VHS of the film version (which I'm guessing is just the pilot episode with some bonuses?). Would absolutely love to have the whole series.

  • @xhaskinsx

I wanted the series as well; did a lot of checking and it seems foolishness reigns: no one involved can figure out who has the rights and so instead of compromising we are all cheated. I called the producer's office a couple of years ago. How wonderful it would be if someone had taped the series and could make us copies! If enough people followed up maybe they'd get their act together!

  • What happened to this series?? I can't find the series anywhere.. anyone know of someplace I can purchase the series? This series was soooo good.

  • Haven't heard this song I wrote with Post for years. Although the show was only aired for one season, I always loved the song and Ronnie's vocal was so right. Just a slight correction: the song was written by Mike Post and me, Stephen Geyer (not Pete, who was Mike's scoring partner. This is a common misconception regarding theme SONGS (as opposed to instrumentals) Post wrote, as my name usually flashed for a second at the end of the shows, and theirs were featured in the front music credit.)

  • @geyerworks : Awesome theme song, but I must say the theme to the GREATEST AMERICAN HERO was your best one.

Any chance on you or Mike Post doing another colaboration anytime in the future?

  • @geyerworks

    Hi-

My dad was Ralph Freed; did you happen to know him? :o)

    Vicki S

  • @geyerworks Oh ok, so your the gentleman that wrote Hardcastle & McCormick as well, question what made the producers go to the second theme "Back to Back" and switch it back to "Drive" in the middle of the second season?

  • @Keon2006 Good question. In fact I asked myself that at the time Cannell asked us to write a new theme. No real good answer, except some suit at NBC with enough clout must have decided he didn't like the aggressive Rock flavor of "Drive", and wanted a softer, more Pop approach. They changed it back presumably because "Drive" had already become the signature song, preferred by the public -- or because the suit at NBC got canned. I thought both themes worked very well, but what do I know?

  • I've been trying to remember the name of this show for decades...lol...sad I know...

    thanks!

  • I want to bonk Mimi 24/7.

  • I remember living on "the hill", 37 th st on Pt.Fermin.

A lot of Cannels shows were shot out here,The Rousters at the Korean Bell.

  • awesome!! Loved this show as a kid!! Mike Post and Pete Carpenter wrote some of the best TV themes ever!!! Jim Varney!!!!!

  • Agreed.. and the first time I saw 'Mike Post' as credited on television, I was flabbergasted, haha.

  • I remember watching this show on Saturdays, usually over Grandma's house, when she and my mom kept it parked on NBC (mainly because of Diff'rent Strokes)

  • I liked it. My parents hated it.

  • This series was about the last living descendants of wyatt Earp fighting crime in 1980s.

  • All I remember about this show is that the ending credits went on FOREVER. We joked that they were practically as long as each previous segment.

  • cool theme!

  • I remember an NBC promo for this short-lived TV series where promo voiceover Danny Dark said "The Rousters are gonna sink the Looooooove Boat!"; he stole Ernie Anderson's schtick! Too bad they didn't sink "The Love Boat".

  • @mrceleb2006 I said that too about the promo. I did not see yet since yours is on the second page which I just clicked on.

  • Dang that car grabbed some air!

  • I loved this show. Maxine Stewart was the funniest. "One wrong move and I'll perform shotgun surgery!"

  • Boy, Cannell must've had a lot of extra time and money on his hands.
