Update: Sorry to say, that this project is dead, Ran the car last fall, and since then its been a shelf-queen. Took it down yesterday, and noticed, that I had damaged a Valve last run, and this motor is discontinued, and parts are very rare.
The car itself will get a 5cc OS motor, but the 4-Stroke engine is a simply not worth the effort to repair,... Anyone interested in parts?
The S-C four strokes kept most of the airplane engine parts. Only the valve springs were stronger in the car version to prevent valve floating. Perhaps you can source a new valve and other parts from an airplane engine by looking at the part numbers.
@Spellspt Gosh it seems to use a lot of fuel for its size seeing as 125cc is enough fuel to drive a car for a mile and it only last 15 minutes. I would have expected that volume of fuel to last about 2-4 hours on even the largest of RC vehicles.
@TimpBizkit Not really cars are designed to be extreely fuel efficent these engines are designed to be as powerful as possible not as efficent as possible.
@Spellspt is it nitromethane powered? If it's nitromethane powered, then nitromethane contains much less energy for the amount of fuel, and smaller engines are usually more lossy.
Search for GWS ducted, get a model that is 6-9volts, and sized for your application. For a ESC, search GWS ESC 8A , and get one that matches your radio/battery.
I Run the servos off the ESC, but its a low 1.2A BEC, which is enough for simple servos, but NOT good for digital or HD servos.
Also, Don't run the Fan from a regular RX pack, make SURE the pack can handle 5-8amps or 5C for a 2100lipo.
Yes, we like it!! At least I do! Used to have 4S ST similar to yours. Not quite as cool though, because had a regular 4S pipe and fan with a pulley. Great project! Cheers
It didn't seem it could, so I used a perry pump. The original exhaust was a stright pipe, so there wasn't any pressure to the tank, so I installed the perry, Now with this exhaust I could probably go back, but this setup keeps the carb pressurized and stable at idle and WOT
FS-26 or FS-40? I've got an FS-40SC-X for one of my Supertens. It's interesting that you kept the pull start since it doesn't look like a pull start 40 will fit on the Superten without drilling new mounts. I bought the extra parts to convert my FS-40 to non-pull start.
yeah, kept the stock pull start without problems. I got a starter box, but its so easy to start, I don't use it. Plus, someone who I learned from, told me that the fly wheel from Kyosho 4S-kit, isn't so strong, and may break from repeated bump starts, and it was really hard to find, so I don't stress it.
The Dual Exhaust Pipe is a Integy part designed for a Savage, don't have the part number here, but they make several kinda for Tmaxx, etc, I just "Eye-Balled" one that I could Fit and made it work. As for the header pipe (head to Exhaust) that is a OS part for planes, they come in Short (which I used) and Long, which is about 10cm longer. The Pipes are 2 chamber, which is not ideal for 4 strokes, but the look is awesome.
Instructive video, more people like you would be desirable. Impossible to find any FS-40 SC(X) so I'm trying with the airplane version. Perry pump really necessary? Exhaust reallistic, very nice!
The Perry, Probably not Now that I am running a 2 chamber pipe, it is needed for Open Pipes. There is more pressure in the system from this Exhaust, but I didn't know that when I made this setup.
Keep an Eye on Ebay and other places for the C(x) version, OR you can build your own, if you get the Cam/Springs and Valves. As the Rest is a normal FS-40. I got lucky in finding my Cx, found it on a shelf in a hobby shop, collecting dust, been there for 3 years.
Nice work.. Is that an aircraft engine? .40 size? How much did you have to cut off the crank shaft? Also do you have problems with the lifters/tappets floating under speed?
its a 2004 OS engines FS-40 CX, the C stands for car, the x for pull start, OS made these for cars for about 4 years, 2000-2004 ish, It is the big brother of the OS FS 26C that is still made. They are extremely moody engines, with Temp problems, hence the fan, and fuel mix problems, hence the fuel pump.
There rated for 18,000 RPM unlike there Airplace brothers, connected to a 2 speed, and geared correctly, Float is not (big) a problem.
This really isn't a Basher, so I drive with caution.
still kinda seems like a 2 stroke...

very cool. i have a 4 stroke kyosho superten with the fs-26 non pull start engine. Unfortunately it's just a pretty shelf queen now.

Is that a boat engine??
SUPERFORMIAN 3 months ago
@SUPERFORMIAN nope, its a O.S. FS-40CX, its discontinued now, so you won't find info anywhere, it was Made for cars, in the mid 2000's, short lived,
Basicly its a FS-40 with stronger valve springs, different cam, bigger exhaust, and a pull start.
Spellspt 3 months ago
A 4-stroke nitro engine that was actually made for cars? Didn't think such an engine existed...
SUPERFORMIAN 3 months ago
@SUPERFORMIAN it was very short lived, as it was a PAIN to tune and never did run well in a car, I think they still make a .26ci version tho

Probably a stupid question, but why the cooling fan?
toff696 11 months ago
@toff696 4 Stroke run very HOT, VERY VERY! And when you run 25% nitro in, basicly an Airplane engine, you need MORE AIR to cool it.

@Spellspt how much do u want for the engine?
Axbent 1 year ago
@Spellspt I really want the exhaust system you have in the video. Is that up for sale? Also, did you make it yourself or did you buy it?
stevensj13 1 year ago
@stevensj13 The Pipe I have there is a "Integy" part for MonsterGT. They no longer make them, BUT
RDlogics (same guys??) now offers that pipe, along with some others.
Ebay search for "RDlogics Twin" and you'll see a selection of pipes,
They are made for :Jato, Tmaxx, Savage, Revo, MonsterGT etc..
Each Type, is available with different Exhaust Tips
The pipes are designed for specific vehicles, so you have to MAKE it work for your car/truck. But the end result is nice...

What size is the fuel tank on this thing?
Also the engine displacement?
TimpBizkit 1 year ago
@TimpBizkit
Tank is 125cc, standard for Offroad, and the engine is a .4ci or 6.6cc

sq-In or CC being the same, NO 4strokes are not as powerful as there 2stroke brothers.
As this motor is now discontinued, no use in a parts list.
