  • Voip Phone Service - How to Use

    latestgadgetsandtechnologytoday.blogspot.com/2011/12/voip-phone-service-how-to-use.html

  • I have this Ooma system and I love it. The sound quality is amazing and a cool feature is that you can check all the voice messages on your computer, so you delete messages save some, and etc. The part that sucks is that if the internet goes down so does the Ooma.

  • LOL - Somehow this video was one of the top related videos to an episode of Star Trek Voyager.

  • It's ok but there is a monthly fee. He is a liar. I pay like 1.39/month. And I get virtually no caller I'd. So far only my wifes cell has a name. Ooma will say to get supreme setup or whatever they call it for like 9 bucks a month if u want caller id. Of course the callers number shows up. Big deal. It's no better than magic jack. Fancier. And my router has USB so I wish I hadn't fell for this. My phone bill was only like 25/month. So now I got no caller Id. Like I said it's ok. But it ain't sl

  • I am currently using Voip plan available at vontrump.com and its great! I have become a Voip fan.

  • I don't have a home phone number. If I buy this, will i8t assign me a number? This may be a stupid question.

  • @wesley830

    yes

  • @wesley830 Yes they will assign you a new number. You give the area code and they give you a choice of available numbers.

  • @wesley830 you have to pay 250$ up front with vonage no upfront costs

  • Can I attach a fax machine to this? I would think it would work because you mentioned having two phone numbers on the one system

  • Please Avoid This Person!!

  • QUESTION: Can I use this overseas Ooma Telo in Hongkong or Philippines? I'll buy it here in USA then register it in USA then sent it overseas for my relatives in Philippines, and use it to call me from Philippines to USA?

Needless to say, buy & register Ooma Telo in USA and send it overseas (Asia) for your relatives.

  • @dtwalnut Yes I have a brother that did just that as long as you have high speed internet that you can plug into, you get a US number and you can use it to call anywhere in the US for free

  • Still more expensive than MagicJack, but admittedly the quality of MagicJack is directly proportionate to your Internet connect. How does OOMA compare?

  • @proximajoe

Sorry, but with Magic Jack you have to keep your computer on 24/7. Watch what that does to your electric bill. I had Magic Jack for almost a year, and started to have bad problems with it. it was really screwing up my computer. Magic Jack's customer service was a pain in the ass to deal with. So I got rid of it. Now I can use my computer for what it was made for -- computing.

  • @cameraz99 my computer is up 24/7 anyway so thats not a factor to me

  • @proximajoe All VOIP telephone services quality are directly proportionate to an Internet connection. Ooma is no different, but is much better in that you can still use your own telephone handsets with the Ooma box. It works great with wireless handsets.

  • @Resistoon I do use telephone handsets with MagicJack

  • @proximajoe Yes but with MagicJack a computer is required and for it to be on all the time. With Ooma you don't need a computer. So basically the setup looks like a regular phone connected to an answering machine box.

The downside to using a device that needs a computer like MagicJack, is that the odds are its hard drive can fail and then you would have no telephone. An Ooma box has no moving internal parts, so it will have a much longer life.

  • ooma hub and Telo bot are awesome and guaranteed to save you money ..

New ooma iphone app is a rip off ..

  • sell and buy call termination, search for routes you need, and tell others what you offering.

LookForVoip, Call Termination, VOIP,VoIP Forums , Routes, VOIP Providers Forum , VOIP Companies , MVTS, SoftSwitch, VOIP termination, Wholesale Termination,

    lookforvoip. com

  • There is a way cheaper way than all methods recommended here, but you have to be tech-minded, using Google Voice, Gizmo5, SipSorcery, and virtually any SIP compatible Analog Telephone Adapter. I paid $60 for my CISCO/Linksys SPA2102 Analog Telephone Adapter, mind you no voice mail speakerphone thing, but I don't care too much. I truly recommend the SPA2102, CISCO even says on their website, how it's used by service providers to "leave" in the home of people who want VoIP in their house.

  • the best VOIP phone ever. i had for 2 years and never had problems!!!

  • MILES???? from MH??? OMG!!! THIS IS LILLI, C's sis Look for me! PLZ

  • Why is it only unlimited to only the US??? The internet goes all over the world, so shouldn't it be free to make calls all over the world?

  • @ferrariguy25 your originates on Internet, but usually end up on traditional (PSTN) network, and depending on where you call, PSTN carriers charge each call a per minute rate

  • @ferrariguy25,

Does the world even have internet? majority of the world has piece of shit telecommunication services. Take europe for example, try making a cell phone call there from the usa, it fuckin cost like 20 cents a min in todays time. how far behind they have to be. Any country that wants to enjoy free internet based VOIP services must upgrade their shit.

  • @ferrariguy25 thats how ooma makes money so they can provide the free service.

  • @ferrariguy25 Because telephone company around the world control domestic calls fees.

  • For what it's worth, the Ooma tab does light up, but isn't for showing if you have voicemail waiting. It shows red when offline, blue when ready to handle calls (should be 100% of the time, assuming your internet connection is up). There is a separate voicemail button that blinks when new voicemails are waiting.

  • people like this apparently, 14 reviews on cnet and it has 5 stars. I currently have vonage and its been pretty decent for the price. their adapters are garbage. Might just give this ooma a try. only have to keep it for a year to get my money back!

  • Monthly payment comparison between Ooma and Vonage

    Ooma: $0/month

    Vonage: $24.99/month + tax

Ooma equipment which sells at Best Buy for $249.99 will pay itself in about 8 months. Remember, with Ooma you don't need your computer ON unlike Magic Jack you do.

  • You are full of sh.....You forgot to mention that we need to pay for another company(broadband-catv or dsl-phone)inorder to have this.I dont see the saving you are talking about.

  • You're a dumb b**ch

  • You are welcome b**ch

  • @dazloman: It might not be worth it, if you don't have internet connection. However, if you're paying the same MRC with your analog phone, compared with an internet connection. You should think about this. With VoIP (Ooma specifically), you will have 5000 minutes nationwide allowance, per month. I only average 290, and I use it for business. The most I've used is 1100 minutes. 5000 minutes a month is a lot.

  • It pretty much is unlimited. The 3000 min limit is only for outgoing calls and its very hard to reach. The limit is made to discourage people using it for business and telemarketing. They even said on the website that they have never once charged or terminated anyone using it for residential purposes, even ones that went over there limit. Read there FAQ.

  • This is Ashton Kutchers company right?

  • it disappoints me when I purchase that then I found out you'll get 3000mins free every month. I thought it's unlimited call

  • I bought MagicJack for me and my son's computer. You don't even need to buy a phone, just a headset with mic. Or you can buy a phone or cordless phone. It works great, clear, free incoming outgoing calls, 3 way calling, call waiting, on-hold music, voicemail and some more features. You only pay $39.95 which pays for the device and the first year. Next year is $19.95. All you do is connect it to a USB port, Voila!

  • I'll stick with ooma.......I don't think it will reach 3000 mins whenever I used phone.

  • How does your MJ (CRAP) work?

Does it disconnect your net connection after awhile?

  • LoL, actually no. But I have had to open up 5060 and 5070 ports on my wireless router to get clear calling. I really don't have any complaints. It says if you use a router or a usb hub, you might not get the best quality. And it depends on your internet speed, I'm using the lowest of high speed internet (DSL) but plan on upgrading soon. Otherwise everything is working great. I won't be getting a landline phone for at least a year when my subscription is up then I'll pay $19.95 again. Try it.

  • but your still paying for it yearly

  • Post me a link where it say's you can buy a dialtone from Vonage for $250.

That's $250 lifetime. Not $250 for one year and you pay after the term.

  • I tried OOOMA and it takes up a lot of bandwidth.

I am stay with vonage, its clear and I have referred over 100 people, which means I am a life long customer.

  • Double LOL.... No, the bandwidth is the same with $Vonage$. Current compression is still industry standard.

  • whatever.. I happy where I am with vonage, 2 years now.. sounds good

  • No, you've been with Vonage for 1 year. I was with Vonage for close to 3 years. I was a satisfied Vonage customer. But something better came out. Simple as that...

  • Are you retarded? Or you just look like one. You commented a month ago, that you're with Vonage going one year. Duh.

What's why the foul language? Are you running out of words?

Vonage is yesterday. Embrace the future.

  • Vonage is number, crystal clear service, I have been with them for 2 years..

  • From Vonage $20/MRC, to T-Mobile @Home $10/MRC, and now Ooma $250/OneTime. What will they think of next...

  • Once the internet providers and cable companies find out that people are canceling their phone services to use these new VOIP devices, and all we need is cable TV and internet from them, they will find a way to up the price to compensate for the loss in business. Its just a matter of time. Someone needs to develop a way to watch cable over the internet. Anyone know how?

  • They already have it, its called IPTV, its just not that known of.

  • BigSimp, do you know some websites that you can suggest for me to check to get cable tv online? Thanks it would be most appreciated.

  • Why do I have to hook it up to the wall? I don't have a convenient location

  • Why do they need a 2nd box to every phone? Can't you just plug it in a unused phone line and have all your phones work with one box?

  • Skype. MajickJack, whatever, they all have the same drawback--YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR COMPUTER ON 24/7. Oooma is a standalone device.

  • you can do that with sykpe the pc does not have to be on 24/7 works off wireless waves

  • I believe you are talking about the Belkin or Netgear phone.

1/2 to 2/3's the cost of the Ooma system. Not that much different.

Still, the person on the other end has to be a Skype user for the call to be free. Because otherwise the calling isn't free. Although I must admit it's pretty cheap.

    Not a bad alternative, gaslight.

Where does the $10/month charge come from (for Skype)? I see $2.95. At $10 I'd say Ooma's better.

  • m'kay.. so is my vonage device.. m'kay.. and I paid 239.00 a year for one time life long vonage customer

  • MRC = Monthly Recurring Charges

    Vonage MRC: $20+

    Ooma MRC: $0

    m'kay...

  • well lets see..

    considering I pay for Vonage = $0.00

then hmm? must have agood deal

  • here you pay the $200 once... not yearly.

  • I ain't complaining though

  • down load sykpe pay $10 amonth for unlimted calls in canada and abroad

been using it for 2 years works well and cheap

  • then you'd be spending $120 with skype. that's $120 more expensive a year than Ooma. Even with the premiere service, you'd still save $30 with Ooma.

  • okay but pc to pc is free on sykpe nil cost any other cost is if you want it ?

  • The issue is more about having the convenience of calling someone directly without the need of a PC.

  • from what i read

u get 3000 minutes for (OUT BOUND) calls

    not in coming calls

my only question is what is the USB port for?

  • ooma there goes all my money lol to much bullshit and red tape

  • dont let the unlimited mislead you. great product all around, there website said theres a 3000 a minute limit only to prevent call services from abusing the product, great product, who the hells gonna use 3000 minutes? prob a select few.

  • can u use this overseas like magicjack? like calling some1 from asia of europe?

  • anything smaller then this? i'm in europe trying to get something thats voip to call friends in the states.

  • Get Magic Jack in your case, does almost the same but with less features than ooma.... plus its cheap...

  • i got it but friends cant hear me on it but i can hear them fine.

  • get skype $3/month to us

or geta ooma hub on ebay cost around $199

  • zatznotfunny(.)com search for oomas-new-hardware

  • dvice(.)com/archives/2008/11/ooma_telo_free

  • url does not work

  • Nope, 'Telo' runs on any high speed internet service like DSL, Cable, Wireless, Fio's etc... Telo is slick black , thiner and comes bundle with an OOMA slick phone. Its more stable with newer technology. Here's a link just ad the dot's ok...

  • you seem to know what you're talking about. quick question i have my sat receiver plugged into the phone line. will can i do the same with the with the ooma system or what will i have to do to avoid monthly charges from my sat provider?

  • Comment removed

  • ooma is very stable making about $45 million in revenue thin 2009 and now they are comming with their new hug called, 'Telo'. for $175 total thats a bargain! Just change your DSL to the Stando alone DSL and your done! I love it.

  • bought ooma, works fine

  • magic jack is better

  • How can Magic Jack be better? OOMA cost me a life time total of $175, kept my home number. Full of features and has customer service... Guess what? You don't need your computer on like magic jack! If you have MJ like me as well u must need pc on. Ads up on electric bill. Solution - buy a mini laptop just for MJ but thats about $250 + $40 MJ + tax = more than what OOMA lifetime price! I only use MJ for when im on college with my laptop and want to make calls and long distance calls. Its great...

  • hey i got a question i just got MJ but people can't hear me that good with the phone but i can hear them clearly. do u know what it could be?

  • i had same problem. solution was simple.. you have to adjust the volume settings in the control panel under multimedia just like if the MJ was a speaker on your computer. Once I fixed that it worked great.

  • i'm going to try that next time.

  • it can be your pc, your internet connection, or who knows. Try it on a different phone and pc . My 2.4 ghz wasnt compatible, it would drop my internet connection. Tried my 6.0 Panasonic and works great!!

  • yeah i did try it on like 100000 different pc's. but u know... i think it could be the phone either way over 30 days screw it.

  • Anyone that tries to claim that MagicJack is better than ooma either works for Magicjack or has never tried ooma.

  • I lost my iphone and am using Magicjack at the moment as a quick emergency number as a temp communication. I will be getting OOMA next week.

  • .take ur middle finger and put on ur nose.

    2.say a name of someone u like.

3.that person will ask u out or say they love u tomarrow.

    4. heres the thing copy and paste to 2 other vids

  • good bye vonage XD

  • I think ooma is great but it has been down all day today.

    ooma is a verizon killer.

Magic jack is a peace of shit

  • big problems today

My service has not been working all day. I am unable to call , ooma

customer service is completely down, I am totally alone here. At least

with Comcast they answer their phones when a problem shall arise. My

internet is working and I can't even e-mail ooma, ooma e-mail is down

and It won't let me log in either. Is this the kind of support Ooma

    has?

  • Try to call Ooma right now

  • Stop trying to pretend you even have Ooma, box1557. Anyone who actually owns an Ooma knows they have excellent customer support and service as well as the best call qualilty of any VIOP provider. The problem ealier today wasn't the fault of Ooma. There was an internet outage in Silicon Valley that affected many companies. Blackberry, TW, Ooma, Blue Cross, Verizon, Google Voice, and Yahoo all suffered major outages earlier today.

  • I just bought this after my skeptical brain processed it. But, I have to say it's easy setup and calls are great. The only fear is the company going out of business. Fingers crossed.

  • really cool little concept and good for your average consumer, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone running a business though.

  • why you say this?

  • Read small print your limited to 3000 minutes a month.

  • Our business is with fastmetrics managed voip now.

It was a seamless migration from our standard pbx system. We kept our same phone numbers and the service is fully managed from the get-go.

We saved $ with unlimited free calls to the US and Canada and dirt cheap o/s rates.

Smart phones too, with features like call attendant, which cuts out the need for a receptionist.

  • I like Ooma. I had Viatalk VOIP and every now and then it went down and I needed tech help often and they charged $4/mo for 911 fees. Ooma you will never get any charges ever. The Ooma quality is better I guess because it has the latest technology. I set Ooma up for my parents and when I call them now from my Skype the quality is much better than Viatalk.

  • Because you're only paying for Internet.. if you where to get InternetPhone from your Internet provider, you'd need to pay for Internet PLUS your Internet phone bill.

  • I don't have a LAN line. Can I use this without a LAN line?

  • WOW, this is a great service, better than vonage

  • anyone want to chat

i cant watch this video Qj

  • The Internet will save mankind!

  • but could it also destroy it?

  • The internet won't destroy the world for this reason:

It takes brains & critical thinking to make it work

The reason major media has destroyed the planet is because it takes absolutely NO EFFORT to sit there and vegetate to the rhythm of its propaganda!

  • good point, i agree.

The media these days are just manipulating large groups of people with lies.

  • google earthcaller its free . free calls to us and canada. no software to install, just a script that installs with internet explorer browser. sorry i dont think it works for firefox or safari, but for free its not bad.

  • yea but then you got to sit by ya computer and you cant walk around to use the phone.

  • true.

  • u can get skype wifi phones u know!

  • i cant find this application that you said

i got some erathcaller from india and some jaduka things but i cant make free calls in usa

    bye

  • The phone companies will dislike this product.

  • this is a really cool product.....

  • wow i hardley think itll be here in the uk tho but if someone knows of a product plz pm!

  • go for skype...

  • cool

  • PAFANGA!

  • great video

  • ok how is he waistin ur time

  • POOPIEEHEAD!!!!

  • lol

  • niiiice is it available in england
