A lot people hate the VISTA because of the UAC. I tried ubuntu and it also has its own version of the UAC. The main reason people hate VISTA is because it's damn expensive.

Just skip ultimate, get home premium to avoid annoying applications, and it's easy to use. Maybe you have to learn one or two things, just like when you moved from 98' to XP. (however i might be too lenient with that statement since i think a lot of the complainers are little tweens that are afraid of change and never experienced an OS change)

Excuse my language but Vista is the most horrid abomination piece of worthless shit ever created. The OS is being shoved down our throats like shit, XP isn't even on shelves anymore. Microsoft is fail, period - I truly wouldn't be saying that if they had nothing to do with PC games such as GTA 4. If you're using Vista, either tweak the hell out of it, or pirate XP (since that's only way you can acquire it now days).

people think vista sucks but after all the updates etc, it's completely fine now. There are no problems with vista. XP doesnt even have DX 10 which makes the graphics alittle lower then Vista. Vista uses more memory but alittle more RAM can fix that easily. hundreds of customize themes for vista, and Vista connects perfectly now. Games are 100% more compatible now with vista. Nicer interface and has the search program which makes things faster to search for. What else do we need lol

whats ur computer tech? whats ur graphic card. My cousin has a core i7 2.93GHZ, 4GB DDR2 of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and BFG GeForce GTX 260 OC. You might not be able to play good games but my cousin is doing just fine. You have to tweak vista so that things dont slow down ur games in the back ground. I have vista too and i dont have a single problem. You're the only person ive seen with gaming problems. It's either you or ur computer specs.

If you take away the fact that you have to hack the DRM, change MOST settings, and get rid of all the CRAP visualizations - Vista might be acceptable. I don't like vista AT ALL. Vista got me into Ubuntu Linux because I got tired of the "new" mickysoft platform. Try Ubuntu. It's what Windows SHOULD be.

DRM? What the hell is that? I set my computer to Windows standard, and that's what it was on when I was using Windows XP, and I can't really see any difference. Vista has the same browsing, the platform is very similar, and the sounds are different. That's nothing really to bitch about in my opinion.

DRM (Digital Rights Management) is actually a BIG deal with Vista. Of course - you can work around it, but Vista's DRM is a pain. At first - before cracking the DRM, you may have a tough time playing your older downloaded Mp3s, videos, etc... It is quite easy to work around however.

I put all the same music, video, and picture files on my computer after I installed Vista and I have had no problem playing them whatsoever. My music plays in iTunes just like before. It even remembered the names and play counts. My videos also don't have any problems playing.

Whether that's true or not, operating systems are more of a personal preference since let's face it: neither operating system really have advantages over the other. XP is simple, clean, no special effects, but Vista has the sleek design of Aero. XP runs 3D games fine, but Vista has DX10. XP might not use as much RAM as Vista does (due to Vista's superfetch feature), so you might want to use XP if you're running short of RAM. It's just preference in the end since neither is really better.
