I play a lot of gb, and think I could be a successful MLG player if I put the time into it, but there is so many reasons why pub-style CoD does not translate to other games that are competitive in their base form eg StarCraft Tekken Gears etc....
1) have you seen 6v6 or 9v9 dom with full teams? Do you know what it truely comes down to. Overpowered spawn wins. Why? Teams set up on the easiest spots, head glitches LOS to trap the other team. 9 guys doing that, you don't have your AFK or roaming dumbfucks like in this game or pubs.
2) in 4v4s usually 1 man must control an area, or portion of the map by himself a lot harder.
3) tactal insertions would be the best equipment. You will never get anyone out their nearly unbeatable spots
4) Gunskill would be less relevant. With everyone in a spot, moving would be the worst thing to do. Everyone SHOULD be camping something
5) Killstreaks. Yes the AC130 looks amazing and is fun. But is your 9th man sniper at the back of the map, camping his ass off for a 5-9-12 competitive?
6) Deathstreaks? lol
7) Striker, Dual FMGs - and people thing T95 is OP lololol
8) Noob tubes and launchers? Prefired around every corner, even easier to spawn trap.
9) my last reason, people forget how easy of a game CoD is. CoD is probably the easiest, most noob friendly FPS ever made. Think about. Also, SnD is popular in MLG cuz its much much more fun to watch a non-respawn game for the audience. I personally do not really enjoy watching competitive capture the flag/any other respawn mode at all.
SnD is full of kids fist, its almost too annoying cuz theres more talking in that game type, and its not very slow either, there's a lot of rushing and camping does not really work against good players. It is a thinking game because you have to think about where your enemies are based on general patterns and how they behaved in the last round. Its a mind reading game.
Perhaps hardcore SnD is really slow and I have ran into a lot of older players there.

@Supremucy um u dont know anything about MLG either...only about 10%-15% of the pros in the circuit right now are sponsored, that are big names in MLG...the rest of us have to pay out of pocket for airfare, transportation, hotels, etc. this pro gaming stuff isn't free nor cheap...
the reason COD isn't ran competitively with default rules is because by its nature, its imbalanced. That causes it to be easier for noobs to get kills, but also imbalances the game for the skilled players. But this doesn't matter because no one takes MLG COD seriously anyways. Cod is a garbage competitive game.
I think they don't have 9v9 competitive matches because it wouldn't be competitive. Look at a game like Battlefield. You don't see competitive 64 man matches because it increases the variables. Same thing with CS. The more players on the map, the more variables and therefore the less chances you have to control the outcome of any given situation. The reason why CoD isn't as competitive as something like CS (i mean skill wise) comes down to the amount of variables due to map design etc.
Search And Destroy is actually not a ghost town of a game mode, I actually play "s&d" all the time due to the realistic content of it and that it brings out the more skill full players. As of this comment i'm 9th prestige level 51 with less then 6 days plays which i actually find bad haha. When i'm 10th 80 i'm most likely going to do what you do and rape in pubs haha, but search isn't as bad as you make it seem.

You're actually wrong f1stdacuffs, "Third Person" is actually an option in Private Matches. I don't know why they didn't have it as a regular game mode you may play, I agree they just dropped it and didn't even bother putting it in as a game mode, because it would require more effort. I actually enjoyed playing Third Person from time to time, of course when I want to BS around.
That's not true at all fist, it's not entertaining to watch TDM.... S&D is the most entertaining game mode to watch in a competitive setting. CLUTCH SETTING = ENTERTAINMENT. Watching someone in an AC-130 is not fun to watch.

the reason COD isn't ran competitively with default rules is because by its nature, its imbalanced. That causes it to be easier for noobs to get kills, but also imbalances the game for the skilled players. But this doesn't matter because no one takes MLG COD seriously anyways. Cod is a garbage competitive game.

I think they don't have 9v9 competitive matches because it wouldn't be competitive. Look at a game like Battlefield. You don't see competitive 64 man matches because it increases the variables. Same thing with CS. The more players on the map, the more variables and therefore the less chances you have to control the outcome of any given situation. The reason why CoD isn't as competitive as something like CS (i mean skill wise) comes down to the amount of variables due to map design etc.

Search And Destroy is actually not a ghost town of a game mode, I actually play "s&d" all the time due to the realistic content of it and that it brings out the more skill full players. As of this comment i'm 9th prestige level 51 with less then 6 days plays which i actually find bad haha. When i'm 10th 80 i'm most likely going to do what you do and rape in pubs haha, but search isn't as bad as you make it seem.

You're actually wrong f1stdacuffs, "Third Person" is actually an option in Private Matches. I don't know why they didn't have it as a regular game mode you may play, I agree they just dropped it and didn't even bother putting it in as a game mode, because it would require more effort. I actually enjoyed playing Third Person from time to time, of course when I want to BS around.
