June Jones stated it was never the money....then in the Kona interview on KGMB..he states that it was the money....as i said again....SOME LOYALTY JONES.....GOOD RIDDANCE

Plain and simple...the University screwed up and they admitted it. I am sure that if most of you had the opportunity to make a lot more money and got to go to a school in which the AD and administrators show more respect for you, you would do the same. Jones did what was best for him and what would make him happy...the AD and admin did not think of anything else until the threat of him leaving was present.

it seems lee steinberg was negotiation with SMU in NOVEMBER...so jones was looking to leave...well we will take coach mcmackin and so long jones...some loyalty

If UH was smart, they would have negotiated last season and not wait until he had another offer. Remember, hiring a coach starts with the recommendations, then the AD and then that needs to be approved by the president and board of regents. Keeping the coach starts with the AD and not Lingle or the regents...tho they can ask about it. Lingle has no say in the contract/coach choice despite what others think.

Another thing, it is Steinerg's job to look for job opportunities for his client when a contract is nearly ending and the current employer is showing no interest in keeping him (which they did do). SMU's coach was fired with 4 games left in the season so they were looking since then. Everyone will assume why Jones left(like myself) but no one knows the real reason except him. Good luck and SMU and to the Warriors, good luck next season.

Three Blind Mice... Linda Lingle,David McClain, and Virgina Hinshaw... and one chicken with out a head, Herman Fraizer... No wonder JJ went to Texas... For 9 years, nothing has changed with how the athletic department is run or the facilities but yet ticket sales are up, logo shop making ton's of cash... yet they let the school facilities fall apart. ALOHA JJ Good Luck @ SMU....

yeah rite... that's why she went to the Sugar Bowl. She better figure out ways to better the conditions at the University of Hawaii, not only the athletic department, but how fix the many problems with building maintenance etc.

Put it this way:
If she didn't go, people would say she isn't supporting the team/school. Now in your eyes, even though she went she is not supporting the team/school. Try being Governor for the day and put UH ahead of the rest of the state...you'd be under fire for sure. The UH is not the top priority of the state. Pre-college schooling have a way higher priority than UH...which is how it should be.

Pre-college schooling??? Like elementary, middle,and high schools??? The entire states public school systems is a joke. Why do you think that over 70% of the politicians who run our state, send there kids to private schools. Even teachers in the public school system send their kids to private school. That just shows how much faith they have.
