I was looking to buy this light a couple years ago when it first came out, and was led to believe it was about $25-. It turned out to be more like $40-$50. For that money, I'll go with a Quark or Fenix anyday over this!
I had one of these, the older version. Used it very hard in a construction-type of environment in 2007 (before the explosion of high quality "tactical lights") for about four months, it performed fairly well even when when, oily, greasy, dirty.
Unfortunately, the switch failed, wouldn't lock "on." I returned it to Pelican with the online return form for lifetime warranty replacement and they never sent anything back or it got lost in the mail.
Yes, under-whelming light. I dont think its up to "real" Sootch standards. Better options are available. But hey Sootch, we still really like your gear reviews, so keep 'em coming!
Light is Made in China. Checkering is for show only. One of the most slippery lights I own. Tailcap switch is too sensative and too soft. Output isn't 95 lumens. Pelican measures output at the emitter, not out the front with the bezel installed. Emitter lumens are always going to be less than out the front numbers by about 1/3.
A very under-whelming light. There are cheaper & brighter 2AA LED models out there with similar or better quality than the 2360. Surprised at your positive review.
Honestly, far too many to list. But even other 2AA lights from China are better for around the same money. First thing that just jumped into my head is the Fenix E21. Same price as the Pelican 2360. But brighter at 135 lumens. (Once again, emitter lumens. But 135 emitter lumens will be brighter than 95 emitter lumens.) The beam is also nice and white. My 2360's tint is on the Angry Blue side. Build quality of the E21 is vastly superior though. Checkering is also real. 1 example.
@NGMonocrom I totally agree.... Except for the fact that it's about 30 dollars from what he said. For most people it will still be a nice light. I of course would say that something like a newer Fenix E21 is still a better choice since it's about the same price, but it's not a "bad" light at all.
The Fenix LD20 is still the superior 2AA option in my opinion but Pelican lights are good lights and quite reliable. I think if you can get this Pelican at maybe 20-25 dollars then it is worth it
I'd honestly rather pay the extra $5 for an E21. I also owned the older version, the E20, and found its quality to be better as well. Even though output was about the same. The slippery nature of the 2360 can be fixed with some friction tape. But there's no fixing the far too sensative tailcap. I've had the light switch on while clipped to my pants pocket. Sometimes simply because I sat down. At that price-point, that shouldn't happen.
@NGMonocrom Hmm... if it's that sensitive that's not good...
My overall point is that as flashaholics know the brightest light isn't necessarily the best light. One of my most used lights from my collection is a Streamlight Sylus Pro. It's only about 20 lumens, but fits in the hand very well is bright enough for 90 percent of tasks (actually a perfect brightness) and is very reliable. I love my more expensive Fenix lights, but some lights you just go back to because of the overall handling.
Pelican's are nice lights, but for a 2aa light you can do better in my opinion with something like the LD20 from Fenix. That light outputs over 200 lumens.
A cheaper option from Fenix is the E21 at about 150 lumens. That light is relatively new and nice because you can get it in a neutral tint led.
Pelican makes great products. When I worked at power plant, we all had Pelican's since they were inexpensive and had such a bright and powerful beam of light that we used in evaluating the boiler's conditions on shutdowns. Good review of the 2360 and thanks for sharing.
Hey Sootch, good vid. I have a Fenix LD20 so I was stunned to hear that the Pelican only puts out 90 lumens, but at the price point of $30 it is a good buy. Keep makin these awesome vids!

LOL straight beam? I have twenty flashlights and not one has a crooked or twisted beam. had to laugh hard, thanks Sootch
My best light is the Fenix LD20, I have several and they outperform anything in tha price range. I guess it is the straight beam they produce.

Think that I would stick with my LD20 for options and fire power.

Are there many flashlights out there with crooked beams? lmao

The flat panels are cool..wish my mini mag had those. Keep up the good work!
mrmattvan 6 months ago
the flat portions of the flash light are there so that when you set it down on a table or something...it reduces the chance of it rolling away.

I like the idea of AA batteries instead of the specialized batteries.

that looks like it would be nice to mount on an AR because of the straight beam of light

thanks for the review...I'll have to give this some consideration...always room for another flashlight...even if it's a backup for the glovebox!
