  • how loud is this amp?

I mean, can I use it to play rock, but quietly?

  • wat do u think of this for metal? i have a ibanez 350dx with emg 81 n 85 pick ups and a boss mt2. do thing they will work, with this amp?

  • @fpsrtsr I havent tried it with active pickups yet but in the clen channel it will work well typically as a good solid state type amp. I dont really know how it will react with a preamp tube int he bluesy and dirty channel with this type of gear.

  • hey man great playing would this amp doo for blues and metalica?

  • Does it have a Line Out option?!

  • Amplifiers have two parts. Preamp and power amp. The most professional player use tube amps, where you can find tubes in the preamp and power amp too. Solid state amps are cheaper, in these kind of amps there's a transistor system and there are no tubes (tube amps have better and warmer sound). In other kind of amps - like LV300 - there are tubes or only one tube in the preamp, you can get the gain, the overdrive from the preamp tubes. But in the power amp, there are no tubes, only transistor.

  • I wouldn't realy call this a demo... but cool anyway!

  • excellent player. cool video.

  • this noise, comes from the AMP? or from the pedal?

  • I hope it's coming from that fan from the start of the video...

  • Noise is because he is using single coil pickups with distortion. With sistortion on, he should either use the 2nd or 4th pickup setting or humbuckers to stop the hum :)

  • Single coils are not weak for riffs. That crappy metal zone is weak. Try a behringer gdi21. I normally hate behringer, but this one is pretty good for just about everything and it's cheap.

  • why do people use such cheap pedals when the amp has a beatiful distortion?

  • Anyone who wants to buy an MZ-2?

  • how much would you want for the mz-2 ?

  • 50 euros!

  • i live in usa, how much is 50 euros in american money, im not up to date with foreign money.

  • it's mt and it sucks. even metal muff is waay better

  • Thanx for comment bro. To catch up with Slashe's sound for soloing you would definitely use the "dirty channel". It would be better to use an overdrive at least preferably a tube one. The first channel would be better for cleaner distorted bases if you use humbuckers just as Epiphone's. Laney is a bit tricky and someone might need a few hours to "tune" his gear in fine mode with this amp. Gain experimental work is a prerequisite.

  • would you recommend this amp for more pop punky powerchord with lotsa palm muting kinda music?

  • Not that it wouldn't do the job but I think that other amps would have more "color" for this style. It depends on the pop style as it can range from a Vox's mid till Mesa and Marshall. This sound is tricky, better go to a shop and do a thorough search trying it all or buy a multi effect like XT POD or Tonelab.

  • ahh right

thanks alot for the help :)

  • the logical idea i know but where i live on the isle of wight i have to pay for feries £120

  • I'll see what can I do my friend.

  • could you do a demo of erics tone? And whats the cleans like. Also i saw a trademark 60, they seem to look pretty good

  • right now I can't because I had a prob with my Digicam and it is for repair. The webcam has a cheap mic that won't give you thw clue.Anyway Eric's sound is peculiar and difficult to emulate perfectly as his pickups are special along with his gear and effects. It would be better of course to go to a shop with your gear because you ll hear the laney live in front of you and you ll see if it matches with your gear and the sound you had in mind.

  • i play all sorta and am in a band. I play anything from jazz fusion, to funk, to blues, to rock , to metal will it do the smooth eric johnson type cliffs of dover tone? I currently have a dsl401 40w all tube amp but i find it to fizzy and looking to -d-o-w-n-g-r-a-d-e- upgrade to this. My dsl currently gets to around 5 master volume with my band, what would this amp be on? Because i dont want it to start solid state clipping

  • The 1st channel with a Strato will be awesome for blues, that is why Laney is popoular to musicians. If you choose the 300V with twin speakers it will easily peak up to 100W without being fuzzy. You'll imitate Eric's sound easily and the volume knob will be around 3 with 7-8 gain in the tube channel. You can also use the clean solid state channel and there is also an FX loop available for a multi effect.

  • This Laney combines the sound of a solid state with a tube amp. if the guitar is a good one ot will produce very good sound. Seek more info in Laney's site also. I would buy it if I were you. Go to a shop with a gear and try it to see for yourself if it fits to your playing and sound. I think it is a trustworhty solution.

  • "baffled" is there an abbreviation sorry for being a pain

  • sorry for my slang, see I am not a native fluent speaker lol. I mean is kind of "bassy" and distorted like having bass potentiometer to 7-8 and the sound is not clear, like "electronic mud" in the speaker. The speaker won't pulse normally to catch up with your playing especially when you pull it up and use most of its gain and volume the single speaker won't follow up with clarity. If you use it with 2/3 of full volume it will be on its limits.

  • hey mate great vid

i was just wondering if you would recommend taking this on stage

because im looking for an amp similer but i dont really want to cart a half stack around

  • Thanx for comment. 3 months ago I used it in a big amphitheater of a school for a few songs, and it came out loud and distinguishable. 2 speakers are better than one for sure and they don't get "baffled" with low punch end easily as in single speaker layout. My humble opinion have one with the 2 speakers, except if you buy head and cabinet. If it is to be transfered continuously like band rehearsals, outdoor activities etc then have the model with the single speaker for less weight and voloume.

  • could some1 tell me what a pre amp is please???

  • Although I am not an Electronic engineer i'll try to explain it in a simple manner. The signal that comes from guitar's pickup coils is usually weak. In order to amplify it we route it to the amplifier. The 1st stage of amplifying is crucial for the upcoming sound and is called pre-amplifier. A tube amp costs a lot and this is the reason that several companies offered amps with tube pre amps and solid state the rest of the amp,in order to imitate tube amp's sound with low cost. Hope it helped.

  • Thanx for comment. This amp as Laney always promotes is famous for is the drive 1(bluesy) channel. A Texas like strat would produce great chops for blues or funky style. Try this laney if you have the chance, it worths the price. Your vids are great. keep shredding bro.

  • well played !! this amps sound great. i have intention to buy the lv300 with one speaker only. thanks for this video!

  • I own the single speaker LV300. And man let me tell you this amp is fantastic but I have 2 complaints. There is just too much access buzzing noise and hissing when using high gain! Which is not good. Another thing you cannot get the full 120 Watts out of this amp without an external cabinet! It took me a year to find my optimum tone out of this amp also. Just keep those things in mind :) have fun with it. Rock On.

  • Thanx for comment dude. You re right about the buzzing and hissing. But you may fix it slightly with best quality cables and plugs because usualy poor ground has this type of symptoms sometimes also related with the AC supply. Finding the tone is another issue and you are right about the tricky character this Laney has. I faced the same problems initially. I wish you have fun with it also. Rock on too.
