This was the very first Rolling Stones song I ever heard. I could take you to the exact spot where I was standing when I heard it. I was never the same again. I am still a massive fan almost 48 years later. I will always get chills whenever I hear this song.
It's funny to think that, back then, Jagger's slight gyrating movement would have been considered the equivalent of today's artists totally stripping down to their undies and grabbing their dicks in their hands. Oh the times they are a changing'. Makes me wonder what our kids will be seeing in the next generations' performers.
I remember my best friend had this song on an old 45 record he had got from his onkel. Ve offen heard that number in the year of 1969 and i still look back of that time with peasure.
wow, ich kenne diese musik nur zu gut. leider bin ich zu spät geboren, um die unwiederholbaren anfänge dieser einzigartigen band kennengelernt zu haben.
@upstart1776 so what, it's not like everybody loved the "black" music in America. You probably would've never known any of them without the Stones and others.
@upstart1776 so what. It's not like everybody loved the "black" music in America, you were all listening to others because of the racist shit over there. You probably would've never known any of them without the Stones and others.
I actually remembered the night this video debuted in the USA. It was on TV when a very bad report card had been sent to my house & my Dad walked in with the report card in his hand to discuss it with me right in the middle of the song. That was the end of our fatherly/good boy relationship. I'm really glad I finally got to watch it all the way through. I went on to work my way through university, make the Dean's list & I hated my Dad ever since.
I SAW this show. It was the first time I'd seen Mick and his lips. We all thought, "These guys aren't going to last long," but the damned music was so freaking good, how could you keep them down?
For decades I thought I must have been on something, thinking they were on the Red Skelton Show, but found out I wasn't crazy, after all.
The Stones were a great band during this period. Too bad alot of there stuffed in mimed, You can tell because, well not only do the performances sound exactly like the recordings, but they didnt have wireless back then and there are no wires for the instruments. It is a shame, and it was probably most caused by the promoters or whoever didnt want them playing their set normally, because the real live stuff is the best example of rock ever done, ever and not repeated since.
One of the best songs the Stones ever wrote, and they have many. The emotion and intensity in this song is incredible, and they are just kids in it..:)

Lip sync'ing their studio track. One of their first original compositions and every bit as great as most of the Beatles' songs IMO.
